I have lived at The Crossings in Millbrook for the past 18 months. The apartments themselves are very nice. They come with nine foot ceilings, walk-in closets, and spacious rooms. They also have screened in decks which was a really nice feature. Although the apartments were aesthetically pleasing, the apartment staff and their rigid policies tainted my opinion of this complex. I was informed earlier this year that I was losing my job here in Montgomery; in order to stay employed, I was being transferred to El Paso, Texas. Upon finding out that I was being transferred, I immediately informed the staff that I would be terminating my lease early. I was told my $250 deposit would not be refunded, I would be required to pay $845 for another month of rent, and I would be charged $272 because I did not give a 60 day notice, even though my employer was requiring me to report to duty in Texas in 60 days. Because my co-worker was in the same situation and his apartment complex waived these penalties, I asked for the same consideration given to military. They informed me that since I was not military, they would not give me that consideration. They suggested ask my employer to pay for these additional expenses. My employer is providing a fixed relocation amount and it is not enough to cover these additional charges on behalf of the apartment complex. I did not foresee losing my job, or I would not have extended my lease after the initial twelve months. Losing my job coupled with moving across the country was already stressful and this only added financial stress. The staff was not the least bit understanding or sympathetic to my situation. While living at The Crossings, I had to deal with extremely loud neighbors, loud music as well as yelling and screaming. In addition to noisy neighbors, there were other concerns: · On move in day, my carpet had not been cleaned and I had to work around the carpet cleaners while trying to move my furniture in · When conducting my initial walk-through, I reported mildew stains in the master bath and was told it would be fixed immediately but it was never addressed · I reported a toilet that was leaking and it took several requests before they scheduled maintenance to repair the problem · The apartment had a problem with roaches and ants and even though I reported this and had their exterminator come out, I had to purchase my own products in order to get rid of the insect problem · It took a year for smoke detectors that were hanging out of the ceiling to be fixed · The smoke detectors are so sensitive when taking a shower, I had to keep a ceiling fan turned on or the smoke detector would begin to alarm · Trash piled up outside the dumpster on a weekly basis · The work out facility often has equipment that is broken and is not kept clean · The bathroom facility located in the pool/workout room is usually out of paper towels I left my apartment in better condition than when I moved in. There was no overhead light in either bedroom and I installed a light in the master bedroom. There are no drawers in the bathrooms and I installed storage racks on the inside of the bathroom closet. I also installed a spice rack and a rack to keep other supplies organized in the pantry. I also ensured that the apartment was clean when I left to include dusting ceiling fans and cleaning the oven. If your only concern is the looks of the apartment, you should be pleased with this apartment complex but if you prefer not hear your neighbor?s music or disputes you might want to think twice. Most of all, if there is any chance you might lose your job and be forced to move, you should definitely think twice before moving into The Crossings.
