We take roofs seriously as well as outdoor kitchens, and kitchen & bath remodeling. We are one of the few certified by Certainteed as a shingle Master Company. Our roofing company has over 15 years of experience and our staff is highly qualified and dedicated to building quality roofs. We price our products fairly and work hard to make sure that our customers get exactly what they order. All Phases of construction. Brick, stone, concrete. We are also HAAG Certified Inspectors. All of our staff is experienced and certified and has been with us for at least 5 years. We hold ongoing training and safety seminars to ensure up-to-date styles and techniques.
The Owner or Superintendent visits each job-site to handle any questions or concerns with the homeowner. We want to provide the client with a superior roof at a great price.
We offer ten, twenty and lifetime warranties.
The install was completed within a reasonable time frame. The install crew was courteous and professional. The business owner is knowledgeable, professional and personable. He seems like a really nice guy, though really busy as well. He used very good quality materials (above average) and professionally installed same to manufacturers and industry specifications. Bad: the installers damaged my HVAC unit (partially crushed by falling debris) while on site and they left debris inside my building. Good: the owner acknowledged the damaged HVAC unit his crew caused and discounted his Invoice to partially offset the diminished value to the unit. Importantly, he pledged to repair the unit if/when it fails as a result of the damage his crew caused. He was apologetic and quick to respond to the matter. Good: this firm offered a Ten (10) Year labor, installation and material warranty on their work. That's above average. Good: the price was very reasonable for the work performed. The crew did a very good job, despite damaging the HVAC unit. Nothing, it seems, ever quite goes as planned and accidents happen. What matters is how the unplanned or accidental issues are addressed and resolved. Cobalt's owner did the right thing and while I hope I don't have to call him to repair/replace my HVAC unit, I know that if I do he will take care of it and do the right thing. His business, reputation and credibility depend on his word. Overall: good experience.

Cobalt Construction outsourced this to a contractor. The contractor did not show up the first two times we had scheduled a meeting to look at the garage and determine how much paint would be required. Once they showed up, they did a fairly good job. They got paint on my washer and dryer and I didn't catch it until well after they had left. The painter told me stories of how he did Big Deals for Cobalt and didn't make enough money to pay his helpers. It felt like a high pressure tactice for me to pay them more money. I had paid for two painters for a day and he brought three, which I think he did to try and make up for missing the first two appointments. I was very glad to get the garage painted, but I am not a big fan of high pressure sales tactics, which is how it felt to me. The paint job was good other than getting paint on my washer/dryer. In summary, a decent paint job but not worth the hassle of missed appoointments and high pressure sales tactics. I have bought several other Big Deals and not had this problem, so I would go with someone else next time.

They are nice people and very practical. We haven't done anything yet because we did find the contractor because we have got like five different projects and we are trying to figure out whether we are trying to get the quote separate and together to see whether we want to do it all at once or at different time. I think we are going to end up doing it at different time. They are good because they made me realize what wouldn't work and got me more realistic idea of what I should spend my money on so they were good that way. They seem very capable and realistic about what can be done and what can't be done. The price seemed fair, I didn't think they were low. I would consider using them in the future.
Description of Work: Cobalt Roofing and Construction gave me an estimate for additional storage room to our house. We don't have a laundry room right now so we were taking part of a room and putting and we want to create a laundry room and add storage and we have a bathroom to be redone and we have kitchen to be redone. Mostly they gave me ideas of how to pursue it, but they were helpful that way.

We did not use this contractor.
Description of Work: I made initial contact with this company to set up an estimate appointment. A friendly representative came to view our project. However, we didn't receive the estimate within the time line we were told we would get it. I made several attempts to call and finally reached someone who offered to have the representative return my call. After a week of no return call I called again and got the same answer. I told them we were not going to use their services. A few weeks after that they called again offering excuses and apologies but I again told them we were not going to use their services. Yet again we received another call where again they apologized but I reminded them we were not going to use their services. I would like to add that this morning (Sunday) I received yet again another call from this contractor. He passionately was offering nonstop excuses and claiming the representative that was sent to do the estimate (which we never received) was a fraud. He spoke so long that I finally cut in telling him that I wasn't going to change my opinion on line and when I attempted to say more HE cut me off with his tone raised as he proceeded to explain that he wasn't asking me to change my opinion. I didn't care for his tone and certainly didn't care for a call on Sunday or at all for that matter. I hung up on him. He called right back leaving a message saying he didn't appreciate me hanging up on him and he just wanted to find out which rep had come to our house. You know, I really wasn't comfortable with any part of this situation. Months ago when this company was making excuses it was that the rep had an unexpected health situation. I'm sorry that happened and sorry for the situation of the rep. However, it doesn't change the fact that we needed a service and they were not able to get an estimate to us in a timely manner. This call this morning he claims was to find out which rep had come out. That was discussed months ago and I would think that they would have some documentation or notes on my file (which they obviously have or they wouldn't have been calling me repeatedly months ago with excuses) showing which rep had come to do our estimate. Knowing this company will read this I would like offer the following advice to them. If you want to make excuses or explain why things went so badly, I believe there is a place here on my review of your company on Angie's List where you can publically explain your reason's and not harass anyone with calling them at home MONTHS after and on a Sunday. Please do not call me again.

I came out to this property.....I gave customer a bid that very minute... except for the plumbing and electrical. Customer wanted to use a pump for a sink drain...A pump can fail or power can fail. cutting the concrete and connecting to the existing plumbing I think is a better way, but I wanted my plumber to look at it. My plumber is in the building right next to mine. the customer emailed me an over view of the work to be done .. I responded to every email. I received a message back saying he was out of town. I don't know what i could of done different. I never committed to a time line and i was never told when the bid was due. My request of a plumber to access the situation was the only constraint. In an attempt to be competitive. I have to be very precise with my bids. I treat every job with care and consideration.

BEWARE!!! As stated below, we had a new roof put on by Cobalt Roofing & Construction, LLC in 2011. On Christmas Day 2015, we noticed that we had several leaks so severe that the sheetrock on the ceiling was sopping wet, molding and in many places, falling on the floor! We immediately called David Francis, manager for Cobalt. He came to our house and assessed the damage. He decided that the leak in the sunroom (the leak is the entire ceiling in that room!) was his responsibility because of the pitch, that it should have been waterproofed. The other leaks he attributed to maintenance. David’s plan was for our insurance to pay for all of the work. He put one dehumidifier in our basement, one tarp over the sunroom only, and told us to call Terrell, his preferred mold remediation company. He said that Terrell would write up everything for our insurance company so that it would be covered. He said after Terrell would say that we had mold, then David would get all of the work for the roof, mold removal and the restoration. Well we decided to call our insurance company, USAA, first. We did NOT have to prove to them that we had mold. They immediately sent someone to take care of the mold and to tarp the entire part of the roof which was affected. Two assessments of damage and cause were conducted by USAA. The first assessment was completed by the USAA claims adjustor on 9 January 2016. The adjustor stated that the roof had visible issues with flashing, vent covers, boots, etc. Those should have been replaced as per contract when Cobalt replaced the roof after the tornado damage in April of 2011. The second assessment was completed by USAA’s preferred vendor, APEX Restoration DKI, on 9 February 2016. The Huntsville Branch Manager of APEX Restoration DKI stated the roof needed a total removal and replacement to insure that the damage was mitigated due to the issues with the first installment in 2011 by Cobalt. After assessing the roof from inside the attic after the ceiling was removed, it was determined that there are too many damaged areas to “spot” fix the roof. So basically, our house is damaged because of Cobalt’s workmanship and fraud (not replacing the flashing that was in the contract for which he was paid). We have sent two registered letters to David Francis with this information. They have both been returned to us. He refuses to accept them and continues to STRONGLY assert that the damage is because of maintenance even though we have proof otherwise. The roof needs to be replaced as quickly as possible. At this time the leaks in the roof caused by the faulty service of Cobalt have created mold which has produced a significant health risk for my family, especially my wife, who has asthma and has already been medically treated once because of this. The mold has been partially mitigated, but the final mitigation in the attic and interior house repair cannot be completed until the roof is replaced or the problem will recur immediately. The house is cold and could not be adequately heated during the winter because the mold mitigation required the removal of sheetrock and insulation. Much of the house is uninhabitable while the interior ceilings and walls are open. This is not just a few areas that have leaked; it is one entire side of my house that is now blocked off with plastic zippered doors. David Francis now refuses to do anything with the roof because we “left him out of the loop” and has become confrontational and threatening! So because we did not let him scam our insurance company, he is mad and refuses to honor his warranty. He would not discuss replacing the roof unless we also agreed to give him the work of removing the moldy wet sheetrock (that is his fault!) and repairing the inside of our home

The service provided to me by Cobalt Roofing and Construction turned out okay. They did an adequate job, nothing outstanding or spectacular.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's Big Deal to repainted my bathroom ceiling. I paid more than the original price of the Big Deal. There were extra charges because they took more time to do it and we had more work done. Under the Big Deal, they were going to take off all the popcorn and stuff like that and put a new one on it. You can't do that in the time that was allotted for in the Big Deal, and I understand that. But when I had talked to the owner in the beginning, the owner said they would honor the Big Deal. However, when the workers came out, they said they'd give me a final estimate now. I went with that because I can't do this kind of work for myself anymore.

After a few bumps along the way, it was great. The work was not started when they said they would but I understand there was a family emergency with the guy who supervises the metal roofing. Even though there was no hurry on the roof, we would have appreciated a phone call from someone. My husband called the guy responsible for installing/supervising the metal roof and he said it was his fault , that he dropped the ball by not calling us. I am not sure they had a foreman that really watched what the roofers were doing. I sent David several pictures of items that didn't look right. He had them corrected immediately. I started to give them a "B" in one category strictly because of the lack of communication with the roofing supervisor and the corrections that had to be done. There is not really a category that would fit that description. Plus, David Francis always returned my calls or texts and corrected any problems I had. We have several other projects and would definitely use them again.

I contacted this roofer during the week of June 3, 2013. I received a quote by the end of that week. I was told someone would come out to do the work within 2 weeks because they were backed up with work. No one showed up. I called again the last week of June and was re-affirmed that someone would come out to complete the work. It is now August 2013 and I still haven't heard back from this company nor have thay attempted to fix my roof. This is almost two months later since initial contact. I ended up going with another company to get my roof fixed.

I"m taking measure to prevent this from happening, getting an F hurts my reputation. The customer here did not give me permission and was undecided weather to make a claim, if they would of told me the whole story I could of expedited things, they recently changed insurance companies, so they would have to make a claim with the previous. Because it was being paid out of pocket I gave the customer the best price I could, my cost. With the hope that I creating a good relationship. It was to be done when we roofed another house in the area. Today I'm going to create a board for the small jobs, so I can better track the progress and completion. I will do better david another house in the neighborhood.

My wife and I asked for an estimate on replacing a roof. We received the estimate very quickly and for free, within a couple of days with a reasonable price. Later, we asked for an estimate on replacing the siding. The person we met was pleasant and professional. I waited two weeks for the estimates but they never came. As it turns out, the person I met with was let go for performance issues. The estimate I first received was for the wrong job but I worked the rest out with the owner of the company.

I Was told by Jimmy Johnson would be able to do the repairs the next week for the first house. he gave me a labor estimate but not a total price. Never heard from him again. Called Cobalt 3 times about both houses was told that we would get estimates via email. 3 times it never happened. We are still waiting. The second house needed more repairs than the first. Once again never got the email estimate. This company is not professional nor would refer anyone to them. I am very disappointed and we are now trying to find a new contractor. This event has set us back by a least a month.

Owner (David Francis) visited to estimate our job, the only one of the contractors we had who actually climbed up on the roof to look around. Explained in detail what issues/problems he saw and his suggested repair method. Quoted a competitive price for shingling with the style/color we wanted. One thing we liked was the contractor uses synthetic underlayment (felt) and his explanation was that not only is it a longer-lasting product than organic felt, it provided a more secure surface for the crew to walk on with our roof being a steep (6/12) pitch. We liked the fact that the crew's safety was a consideration for what product was chosen. Crew arrived early the morning that was arranged for the work to start and promptly started about 7:15 a.m. The last worker came off the roof about 8:15 that evening, so a very full day spent on the job. They returned bright & early the following day and were finished shortly after noon. Our roof was 56 squares so not small and they stayed at it until finished, which included installing new ridge vents, removing/patching old power ventilators and replacing 2 1/2 sheets of roof decking that had water damage. The crew was courteous and were respectful of the property. They were very careful with the flowers/plants around the house and we have come across almost zero damage which is difficult to do when ripping off an old roof and collecting the old shingles on tarps on the ground. They swept the yard for nails and we have found only a few strays on the property which again speaks for their care in the installation and their clean up. We had moved some plants off our back patio into the yard to make room for the workers and when they were finished they moved them back onto the patio without even being asked to do so, and arranged them neatly which was a nice gesture. They also painted the stand pipes and vent stack from our fireplace the same color as our shingles which has the effect of camouflaging those unsightly white pipes and steel/rubber boots that we'd had for years. Really nice extra touch. During the job I had a couple of questions and David was very quick to respond to text and phone messages and did everything we expected to satisfy us as his customer. After several hard, blowing rains we have seen/heard no evidence of leaks so we are very happy with our new roof installation and have confidence it will serve us for years. We would highly recommend Cobalt Construction for doing any roofing job, and have the confidence they would perform other construction jobs to a similar degree.

David showed up a little late but did call ahead of time to apologize. He offered many different services--his company does so many things it's amazing--but really it came down to the roof. He gave a decent quote--took a while to get his best offer. He kept in touch after that via email...sent some good supporting photos and information. I decided to not go with his company but believe he probably does a very good job and makes things right. I will call him again when I want to do some remodeling or want some new windows.
