He was very polite. We showed him the jack that was giving us trouble and he just says. I don't do that stuff. I asked what he meant, and led him to the perfect excuse by asking if that was a job for my telephone company. He just nodded. I was embarassed that I called an electrician for a job that I thought they did, but apparently they don't do. (I found out later that they do do that kind of work, he just doesn't and his receptionist didn't happen to know that.) We happened to have the issue with the lightswitch, so as not to waste his time with "my" error, I asked him to fix the switch. He was very friendly and gave us an off the cuff estimate of some work we would eventually want done on our living room and kitchen lighting. Then he charged $100.00. Had I actually made a mistake about the role of an electrician, I would be writing an apologetic and excellent review. It turns out that electricians do this kind of work, his receptionist should have told me. Now I have to pay another electrician who actually does this work to come in and do it. Instead of only costing me $100 on one trip for two quick jobs. I will be spending at least $200 total. I'm extremely disappointed at the professionalism shown by him and his staff together. Individually, they seemed quite capable. however, knowing what services your organization performs is a big deal.
Description of Work: We called for a troubleshoot/repair of a telephone line in our office. We explained this clearly to the receptionist. That's what the appointment was for. We also (didn't tell this to the receptionist) had an old lightswitch in the master bathroom.

Everett gives great estimates. He actually came in under estimate for parts and reduced the bill. The electrical inspector from the city of Madison trusts Mr. Brown. So, the lights come on faster. Professional and to code. Everett has done electrical work for me for the last eight years. Always a good experience. At this point I would trust him in my house alone.
Description of Work: Everett replaced a very bad electrical service box, installed 14 outside receptacles, installed 8 recessed lighting fixtures, changed a light junction box to one capable of holding a ceiling fan, and installed under cabinet lighting under all kitchen cabinets.

Everett has performed a number of jobs for us and has always been prompt, reasonably priced, and has done solid work. The jobs describe above were actually performed, at two different times. The electrical service panel was more recent, while the pool and garage work were done a few years ago (2002). For the service panel, Everett gave us an estimate and stuck to it. From what I could tell, there were not any real surprises in replacing the panel. Our house does have aluminum branch circuit wiring (search web if you aren't aware of the implications), so he was careful to apply anti-oxidant compound to the aluminum wiring, before connecting to breakers. For the pool, Everett added switches to control the pool pumps and light. Previously, we could only control them by using the circuit breaker, as a switch. For the garage, Everett replaced a real rat's nest of wiring (done by previous owner) with nice, neat, clean wiring.
Description of Work: Everett replaced electrical service panel. He also, rewired Pool electrical panel, rewired garage lights, and found and fixed short circuit in lighting circuit, in attic.
