MUMMEY BUILDERS

Description of Work: Originally, I contacted Mr. Earl Mummey, of Mummy Builders, to provide an estimate for: (1) replacing the existing house roof with a metal roof, (2) demolishing the existing carport (built in the 1950's with an aluminum flat roof that leaked like a sieve), (3) build a new gabled double carport with an attic. (4) Installing a matching metal roof on the new carport and tying it into the house roof, and (5) Wiring in lights and power receptacles. At the same time I asked for a competitive quote from a contractor working through a local home supply store that was part of a national chain. Mr. Mummey quoted a price that was $3,000 less that his competition. The competition warned me that no contractor could complete this work at such a low price! Also the competitor's quote, $3,000 higher, included a 29 gauge roof where Mr. Mummey quoted the heavier 26 gauge metal roof. Admittedly, I was somewhat concerned with the competition's comment. I had no historical information about Mr. Mummey. As it turned out Mr. Mummey was very professional, knowledgeabe, and did a terrific job. Mr. Mummey started the project three days later after the rain stopped. Mr. Mummey was incredibly organized and attacked this project coordinating sub-contractors perfectly. Some days the number of subcontracting persons, perfectly coordinated and working in sequence, gave the appearance of a "stirred up" fire ant mound. The job was completed in ten days. I am very pleased with the completed job quality and the low price. I definitely plan to hire Mummey Builders for any future home remodeling projects I have.
