When first speaking with Valley Maids, the owner said that she deep cleaned the first time, then would clean top to bottom, then deep clean again about once a month. She emphasized the fact that when she went through the house, everything was put up,perhaps not where we would want it, but that neatness was extremely important to her. Her first visit here was very impressive. However, I should have realized that I was in for trouble, when, despite the fact that she knew the size of my house (but not the neighborhood) and raised the initial rate. She then charged me more per week than she had originally stated as well. Despite my misgivings, I went ahead a hired her to clean the house on a weekly basis. I started noticing that my wood floors were beginning to look worse rather than better. When I told her to start paying more attention to them, they were duller! After I cleaned them, (which took me several attempts), I finally had to ask them not to clean the floors anymore. She then started to say things like "your son does not flush the toilet, so I'm not going to clean his bathroom (my son at the time was about 12...). Due to surgery limitations, I was unable to walk upstairs. When I was finally able to do so, I found out that it was not my son, but our dog, who had been urinating in my son's room. So much so, that the carpets had to be ripped up and completely replaced. You can imagine my chagrin when I realized that she had not even noticed it! In addition, as the weeks progressed, the efficiency of the cleaning was declining. Finally, the last straw was when I noticed that things were broken and items were missing. When I asked her about the broken items, she blamed it on a former employee and did not mention that her insurance would cover it. After about the 3rd ruined item, I inquired about her bond and she said "I don't worry about it, I just send it [the item] to the insurance company and they tell me how much it was worth." Needless to say, I finally fired her. I would never recommend Valley Maids.
