To date, the only repair the contractor has totally completed has been to the roof, although we are not sure of the quality of the work and have initiated a re-inspection to verify that this has been properly completed. We provided an estimate to repair the gutters and downspouts along with sub-contractor information to United Contractors, but they never initiated the process with a sub-contractor to have the gutters/downspouts repaired. New hardwood floors and carpeting have not been installed. United Contractors never ordered the new flooring and carpet even though we made selections for the flooring and carpet replacement. The sheetrock (drywall) in several rooms was not properly repaired: sheetrock nails are protruding. Walls and doors in the house have been painted, but not completely or properly. Sheetrock repairs bleed through the paint in several rooms, and there are large smears of stray paint around all door and window frames. The most unsatisfactory repair was the improper installation of the French doors in the Great Room. The installer broke some siding and trim to get the doorframe installed. Further inspection found that one door hit the other when being closed, and the doorframe is cracked. The exterior of the doorframe was not caulked and not properly trimmed. The list goes on. I have shown the majority of these defective repairs to United Contractors with no resolution. United Contractors never prepared a plan, outline, or timeline to repair our home although we requested a detailed plan for completing the repairs. We have had to continually initiate contact with United Contractors to ascertain when repairs were going to be made and when repair workers would arrive at our home. United Contractors has not been responsive to our continued requests for correcting the improper work done or completing the necessary repairs that remain untouched. On numerous occasions, we inquired of United Contractors and their sub-contractors as to when work was to be completed or if materials required for the repair of our home had been ordered--all to NO avail. We also showed them unsatisfactory work on more than one occasion; United Contractors made no corrections. They have not been sympathetic to our situation and were only prompt when receiving payment. I would not recommend United Contractors as a professional, trustworthy, or reliable company. On July 12, 2012, a representative of United Contractors met me at my home at which time I gave him verbal notice that I was terminating our contract. On July 19, 2012, I forwarded via certified mail a letter officially terminating the contract to the firm.
