I think their pricing was high but then again I've never had these services done before so I'm not sure what the ball park costs would be. I like the fact that they came out when they said they would and I dislike the fact that they left a mess behind them. They cleaned up what they had to clean up but they left a lot of trash used to do the cleaning up.
Description of Work: I used Servpro of North Huntsville to clean up after a sanitary sewer backup in the basement 3 months ago.

Allstate sent Servpro out to check moisture and dry out wet areas. They have 2 types of moisture detectors, one with probes that seemed to work OK and another that is supposed to detect moisture behind the drywall. Neither detector has a calibration or certification. They would come by without calling or not show up at appointment. It took several trips before they found all the wet insulation in attic and removed it. On one wall I saw water going into the detectors would not show moisture so they refused to open the wall and check it. I had two of the techs check a piece of insulation about 15" x15" which I poured a pint of water into. The detector (which they had just used to check moisture in that wall) would not detect any moisture. Alstate requested that they come back and cut a hole in the drywall and check it. That was a week ago and they say they are comming every time I call but never come out. Bill will go to Allstate I guess so I do not know the charges. Some of the areas they did a fair job on but for the most part the work was bad.

The water damage happened on November 25 in the evening and affected a bathroom, hallway and closet. I called Servpro at the recommendation of the plumber who I called to fix the water backup. I was told they could be there at about 11PM and I could get an estimate when they arrived. Servpro arrived about 12:30AM and the personnel who showed up said none of them were authorized to give an estimate. I had them go ahead and work because I knew the insurance would cover anything over my deductible. The workers spent two hours at my house after telling me it would take about 30 minutes. They pulled up the affected carpet and removed the padding, but left the vinyl in the bathroom saying a manager would be out the next day and would decide if it should be pulled. The manager would also schedule the re-installation at that time. The next day, two men did show up to remove the wet insulation in the crawl space and said they would return after the Thanksgiving holiday to replace it. I waited until about 2PM to call the manager since she had not arrived. I was told she would not be coming out that day and that since this was a four-day holiday weekend, I would not be having anyone to the house to check on the progress until Monday. I had been told on the original phone call that someone would check Friday and Saturday. The manager also told me I would have to pay for the rental of the dehumidifiers and blowers for five days since no one would be cable to come get them. I refused and only after some arguing did they agree to charge for three days, which is a reasonable time according to my insurance company. When the manager came to my house the next Monday, she removed the vinyl from the bathroom saying the workers should have known to do it. She removed the equipment and told me they would not be returning since they could not match my padding. The major reason I called Servpro is they advertise doing everything. Since she removed the equipment but the bathroom subfloor was still damp, I had to buy a fan to dry it out. I did get the carpet replaced by another company, but Servpro cut the carpet seems so poorly, they are clearly visible now. They also never came to replace the insulation in the crawl space. I called several times and was never able to speak to the manager who came to my house. Since they did not complete the work, my insurance company did not send a check. In late February, I received a call from Servpro urging me to pay or they would get a collection agency. I explained that the work was not finished and they would not be paid until it was. Only then did they finish the work. Finally, when I received the bill from Servpro, it was wrong. They charged for services they did not provide and charged the after-hour rate for everything, even though most services were done during normal hours. They did apologize for the oversight and changed the bill, but I have a hard time believing it was accidental.
Description of Work: Servpro removed the carpet padding from one hallway and one closet. They removed vinyl flooring from one bathroom. They replaced insulation in the crawl space. They sprayed for mold and dried out most of the flooded areas with dehumidifier and blowers.
