Planet Hardwood

We had floors in our rental refinished. The floors were badly damaged by tenants. While carpet was an option it would have cost just as much. We felt refinishing would preserve the value and be the best bang for our buck. Mike Ward answered the phone the first time I called and put me on the schedule for the estimate. He's very knowledgeable and did a great job explaining the process so I would know what to expect. Everything went smoothly and the job is fantastic! I never expected the floors could look so good! Do not look any further, his company will go beyond your expectations and spend the time to do A++ work! Best contractor experience I've ever had! Awesome results :0) !!!!

The stairs and handrail was a very light wood and we wanted them to be stained for a more uniformed look in the house. There were a few hiccups with communication along the way, but the final product was exactly what we asked for. We will definitely be using Planet Hardwood in the future.

We started a remodel of a 1960's house with old paneling and old carpet that was far past its time. After seeing some new flooring in a home for sale in our neighborhood we inquired about who had done the work, and it was Planet Hardwood. After looking at all the prefinished products from big-box and others, we got an estimate for getting oak installed and finished by Planet Hardwood. The prices made the choice easy. We decided to adjoin the existing dining room 1960's oak flooring with new oak in the kitchen and great room. The carpet was removed downstairs and the new wood "acclimated" for a couple of days and installed that afternoon and the next morning. The old flooring and the new were sanded with a dustless system, and it was dustless!! The finish was applied and recoated and we had beautiful matching floors. We chose a Non-gloss satin finish, making the 1960 and 2013 identical, looking fantastic. We were so pleased with the product and the finishing that we removed all of the upstairs carpeting and had the old hardwoods refinished as well, along with new matching stair treads that mad a tremendous difference. The cleaning is so much easier and the clean-look made it all so modern. The people cleaned up everything and were professional in every way. It's good to see craftsmen and integrity at work, prompt, and friendly. We recommend Planet Hardwood, and have to several, including my son's next door neighbors.

I chose this company based on the reviews I read here on Angie's List. They responded promptly with a reasonable estimate, and started work in less than a week. It was a one-man job and he showed up on time. He was friendly and explained what he was going to do, and then worked steadily and hard, completing the first phase of the job (sanding, edge-sanding, and first coat of varnish) in only about four hours. He returned at the appointed time the next morning to put down a second coat, and a couple of days later returned to nail down new quarter-round molding. There were no problems with dust, and the varnish fumes were minimal. The workman cleaned up well. The company owner gave me a follow-up phone call a week or so later. I plan to use this folks again early next year to install a hardwood floor in our family room.

Mike showed up on time everyday. He was responsive to all my texts and calls. He finished in the time-frame we agreed upon. The floors look terrific!

The installers and finisher did a fantastic job! We removed a wall between kitchen and family room to create open space. They installed new flooring in the kitchen and refinished the family room hardwood to match the new. Don't even notice where the old ends and the new begins. Totally recommend Planet Hardwood.

This is the second time I used Planet Hardwood to repair my hardwood flooring. Just like the first time, I am beyond pleased with the work that was done! First of all, the cost of the repairs were far lower than the other estimates I received from other companies for the same job. Secondly, they were right on time for each and every appointment. Additionally, they were extremely professional and worked diligently to finish the job well before scheduled. Last, but certainly most importantly, the work that they did was absolutely exceptional! The repairs that they made were done so well that even I, who obviously knew exactly where the damage use to be, simply cannot tell which pieces were restored and which were original to the home! Planet Hardwood's work is absolutely amazing, the staff is very professional and the price is unbeatable! It is for these reasons I will absolutely continue to use them in the future for all of my flooring needs and will not hesitate to strongly recommend them to my family and friends!!

Mike was recommended to us and came as soon as we called. He looked at the floors and did his measuring and gave us an estimate and after talking to him and with him I had no problem turning over my key. He was very professional yet a people person too. He did a wonderful job (excellent actually) on all the floors that had had carpet down for way over 30 years. He took the old carpet, the pads and all the nails and refinished all the floors.He cleaned up all the mess so there was nothing for me to come back and do. It only took him a few days to get it all done. He did a wonderful job and I would highly recommend him to anyone. It was job I didn't have to worry about. Thank you so much Mike.

The whole team did a great job, taking their time to make everything look even better than it did before the water damage. The floors are beautiful. They cleaned everything up afterwards and removed all the debris. Gave great advice on how to keep them looking good for years to come. I highly recommend them.

This was a competitively bid job and Mike from Planet Hardwood did the best job of educating me with respect to the grade of wood already in my home, what needed to be procured to match it and the processes involved. His team had the proper equipment and he is a certified Bona craftsman that helps ensure materials and processes produce a quality result. He also has the dustless equipment that reduced the amount of cleanup required. There was a minor scheduling issue but we easily worked around it. They were very responsive to questions and the crew started on time and the results exceeded expectations. Mike tested the wood, provided stained examples of various colors we had chosen on the floor in the home so we could see exactly how it would look and did the same with the finish. My wife and I are very happy with the results in terms of beauty, quality, and value.

Mike came out on time and gave us an estimate. I scheduled for the next available date. I had to change my schedule with Mike at the last minute and he rescheduled with out hesitation. His crew came out the following week and repaired and refinished all the flooring in the house. The work was excellent and a followup visit took place. Planet Hardwood gets my vote for the company to do all of my flooring work.

I wanted the wood floors in a new home to be redone prior to move in. I took a couple of quotes, and while both were in the same ballpark, Mike got the nod because he could return my call. As a bonus, he was able to fit the work in on short notice. The home is about 1900 sq ft, with wood floors throughout. It has a fairly rustic character, so a complete restoration was not expected or requested. Some of the floors were in good shape, so they were buffed and recoated with polyurethane; others floors were in worse condition (water damage, scratches,etc) and required sanding and recoating. The work started on a Thursday morning, and was done the following Monday evening. Mike was responsive when I had questions and very informative. Overall, I was happy with the result and wouldn't hesitate to recommend his business.

. We took off the old carpet and I realized on a Saturday that We needed to go ahead and refinsh the floors right away. I got Mark Wards company on Angie's List, called him and he promptly came. He gave us an acceptable quote and we contracted him to start on the next Tuesday. His employee was great helping us move he heavy furniture and worked unceasingly for 2 days sanding off the old wax. The floors were refinished and Mr. Ward fixed a small problem immediately. He was very helpful with all questions. I only wished I had thought to ask him about replacing the 1/4 in round in the beginning. We arre very happy with him

They did a great job. They met initially on time. They came out when they said they would be here. They did the job in the timeline they said. I saw them on Angie’s List and I chose them because of the comments that were there. They did great. I thought the price was reasonable for the work they were doing. They were fine. If I had a need I would use them again in the future.

My experience with them is not quite good. He was not onsite. He has a prodigy or a worker that was not as trained as he is, so he uses his name to get the job and then he just leaves the job and leaves this person doing the work. I was really unhappy with the finished product. His price is bad. They were very responsive to get to that. He was punctual. He was very professional, but then again he hand it up to his worker.

Everything was going great. Just before they were going to put the final finish on the floor, there was a failure in an upstairs toilet. It had been repaired as a result of the house inspection during the sale of the home. The nut feeding the water supply to the toilet was obviously over tightened and eventually completely cracked and failed. We hadn't even moved into the house yet. Luckily for us, Doug came by, walked into the disaster in progress, shut the water off and called us with the news. Ceilings down, walls damaged and floors flooded. He stayed there until I could get over there, trying to clean up as he waited. He stayed with me while I talked to my husband and the insurance people, cleaning all the time. I finally had to make him go home. Without Doug, the damage would have been so much worse. He even called Mike, who was on vacation, and I was able to talk to him too. It went a long way to making a very difficult evening a little more bearable. Mike came by to assess what damage was done, and we have the utmost confidence that he and his crew will make it look like it never happened. Every person I have dealt with at Planet Hardwood have been professional, kind and in this case caring and sympathetic. I cannot thank Doug enough for stopping more damage from happening as well as being there in a time of great stress.

His price was great and did a lot better job than most. He has a dustless machine that other companies don't use that makes clean up easier. He had me look at other projects that he was working on which really sold me.

Working with Mike at Planet Hardwood was a very positive experience. He and his crew did an excellent job on our floors and they were very good at communicating how they were going to do it and answering my many questions about the process. The end result was just fantastic. They had to work in some new hardwood to fill an old air return space and you cannot even tell where the return was. I would recommend Planet Hardwood and will use them again when I need something of this nature done.

Very positive experience. Staff were punctual and professional.

Removed shag carpet from 2nd BR, parquet flooring, clean slab surface. Removed all large items of furniture, disassembled where necessary, moved them to other rooms and the garage for temporary storage. Sanded the floors to be refinished, stained and applied 3 coats of polyurethane and buffed to a semi-gloss finish. New flooring is an exact match to other parquet flooring in rest of house. There was absolutely No Dust residue on any walls in the house. His statement of his service being dust free is true. The price was reasonable for the work done. The schedule he set was met. The work was of excellent quality. Mr. Ward is very knowledgeable of his craft of refinishing floors, he explains his process , answers question and it was a pleasure to do business with him.

Everything went very well. Despite the difference in age, all of the floors blend nicely. They are very knowledgeable and know what they are doing.

It was wonderful. Mike, the proprietor, was very cooperative in meeting my needs. Instead of installing everything at once, he allowed me a two step process. Instead of having to relocate furniture to the ground floor, we just moved things from bed room to bedroom as the work progressed. I was very appreciative of this consideration, otherwise, all the furniture would have been downstairs impeding our daily living! I would also like to comment on his dustless system. IT REALLY WORKS!!

Mike was prompt coming out to give us the estimate. We scheduled a time to start the project and they arrived exactly as planned. The project was also finished on time! After the sanding my husband had a few small places he wanted them to look at and they took care of them immediately. I was concerned about the dust getting everywhere. Planet Hardwood uses a dust free system. The first day of sanding I didn't have dust on the counters. After the second day of sanding there was a minimal amount of dust. I was told that this dust is from the filler they used on some areas of our flooring. This dust is very fine and the vacuum can't get all of it. I am very pleased with this dust free system and highly recommend it. Mike's team took good care of our home, were respectful and very professional. I would not hesitate to recommend Planet Hardwood.

Had to match enginerreed glue down hardwoods that were prefinisshed. I also purchased the glue. There guys brought everything to install and cut and touch up the floors. They did an excellent job and I am not easily pleased. I had one concern about a board that looked funny once it was glued down and they ripped it out and made sure i was happy. A great group of guys too. For glued down prefinished stuff I can say they are very good. The walls and base boards were not glued up or marred or hit they were very careful and I appreciate it. No matter how expensive the house or inexpensive I would hire these guys.

Mike and his crew were very helpful. I have an old house with old floors that had been stained over the years by pets. MIke was very honest and upfront with his assessment of what he could and couldnt do with stain. The overall prodct turned out very good. I will use him again and would recommend him to anyone.
