Mr. Handyman of Huntsville

First of all it pained me to use this type service because I knew the service call alone would be a mole$ting in itself. Charged $256 for nothing. He spent an hour and half doing the exact same thing to solve my issue that I tried before calling them. Couldn’t remove the door knob either. So much for “expertise”. That will be $256 dollars”. My fault for not stopping him sooner I guess. I accept paying for the call charge, but the rest is over the top. Already spoke twice with them regarding this ridiculous charge on the phone. They ignored me after saying they would get back with me. I might has well have walked outside and tossed 256 bucks out into the street. Don’t use this business

I was told they do not work on campers or trailers. They apparently have an issue working on homes that have wheels. My home was called a structure, which I understand it is, but is that terminology used with other customers who live in actual houses? I could understand if I needed a job done that involved altering the basic construction of my home but it didn't. They simply refused because my home is a 5th wheel camper. They recommend I call a local dealership. That dealership does not make service calls and would most definitely much more overpriced than a regular handyman.

I needed several small jobs that should have been easy to accomplish in 2 days. Instead, all the workman completed was hanging & mudding 3 sheets of sheet rock, patching two holes, replacing a vent and pressure washing an area of my house that I did not request him to wash. The part I wanted washed was not touched. I paid almost $1500 for this small amount of work. This included a charge of $238 for three sections of sheetrock, a vent and miscellaneous screwws and mudding, etc. I was told I had to pay for the parts used-they didn't tell me they would mark them up so much! This could have been done much faster-especially at $94 per hour. Not worth the money spent, in my opinion.

He was prompt, courteous and did the job well. He cleaned up after himself!

They did a great job. It took a couple hours to complete the job and they cleaned up after.

I was not too impressed with them. The shower tiling ended up costing like $1,500 or something like that. They didn’t charge me anything for the glass shower door because they couldn’t do it. They came out and showed up on time. They were good, I mean they were nice guys, they just couldn’t do the work. They charged by the hour and it took them forever to do the work. The guy didn’t know how to mix grout. It was a simple project that the guy was not qualified for. Anybody that has done tile work consistently could have done that job in a day, it took them 2 ½ days to do it. He was a very nice guy, you almost felt bad for him because you could tell he was trying hard. I don’t want to pay someone just to try hard. He cleaned up after the job very good.

I think their prices were high. They were professional.

It was horrible and a night mare. What was promised was not what was being done and the price was not what we had agreed upon. He came in to do some work and caused more problems. Then he charged me ridiculously. The young man he had do the work was unable to fix a dragging door. One of the door going into my washroom was rubbing a little bit on the frame at the top and he couldn't even fix that. We went over everything and it was specified and was written down the jobs that were to be done. He did absolutely none of the work to satisfactory. The young man kept saying, "well I can't do that.", "I can't do that." My storm door was dragging, rubbing against the metal encasing and would rub the paint off so it would rust. In the spring I would paint it and look nice but by the middle of summer, the paint was rubbed off. That was an awful experience. I wouldn't even tell my dog to have them bring him some food, it was just a night mare. I truly expected that it was a company who had people that could do the work. The solution would be to never use them and tell everyone you know to never use them. He came out when he was suppose to. I begged the supervisor come out to see what his employee couldn't do but he refused to come out.

Repair work was performed in less time than estimate and total cost was lower than estimate

They were very expensive; they did a job in two days when it could've been done in one, they were charging by the hour instead of by the job, and I would not recommend them again. The sink was installed but I had to go back and re-do it, I had to re-set the commode, and I had to re-mud part of the wall. So I was not particularly happy. For overall grade, I would not give him an unsatisfactory, because they did some of the work right. Actually they were very responsive. I would call them in the future only if I couldn't find somebody else to do the work. They were responsive; I will say that. I had somebody else that had started the work and they got to a certain point and said, okay that's it, and left the rest of it to be done by me and I was physically not able, although I ended up doing it. I was physically not able to do the work.

They were good. I would give them 4 stars. I had 4 of them come out and they all did well. It was through my home insurance, so I didn't have to pay Handyman directly. I had to pay a fee through my home insurance. They did good. One or two of them I had to call them back because the problem started again. They came back right away. The worker was good. He cleaned up good.

He was great. He was very good. He was responsible and everything. He didn't overcharge me or anything.

He worked out great for me. It was a great price. There was nothing to complain about. He was a little irresponsible. We did have an issue with his responsiveness. I would use him anytime. They send different ones out for what you need.

They did a great job. I wasn’t there when they showed up. They were very reasonable and seemed to be very professional. They cleaned up well, that was awesome.

The work was good, but it was very, very expensive.They didn't replace the whole threshold. I had bought a new threshold and they took it apart and replaced the top part of the threshold. I didn't think that was very professional. They took a brand new threshold and took it apart and put the top part in and didn't put in the whole threshold. When I saw how much it was and I saw what they did I thought that was outrageous. It was the only way he knew how to do it.

What one has to keep in mind when hiring him is that when he gives an estimate he only quotes for the labor. The total cost will be much more than his quotation which is not explicit.

They were on time, very professional, very trustworthy and knowledgeable. Completed the work promptly and explained what was done very thoroughly. They are part of the neighborly group ( getneighborly.com ). Who I know is a great group of vetted service groups - who O go to a get most all of my home services done

The main thing is I will not hire again. Work not up to par and I talked it over with the owner/manager and it made him upset. There was only one worker and the manager at the time. I could not locate the date but it was a few years back. Maybe more than 3-4 years.

The man they sent did a fantastic job. Very professional and fast. The price was much better than I expected. It has been about three years or more ago. We were very pleased !

The home is old and contained a variety of plumbing types, brass, galvanized pipe, and pvc. The price was reasonable for the level of work. They were punctual and professional but the communication could have been better when they realized things were slipping. The first day ran very long and the clean up was not thorough. However, when they returned to complete the sheetrock work they did a great job and cleaned up very well. I will use them again.

Arrived on time but he wasn't sure what needed to be done even though I sent pictures and comments from home inspector. You're charged from the time they arrive until they clean up and leave. I saved $$ in him going to pick up supplies by using flashing and trim I had at home. Felt charges for the parts he used from his truck were high (nails and one piece of trim). Handyman also moved very slow. I helped him clean up and move things around to his truck while he took 15 minutes to write up the charges. Entire job should have been done in 2-2.5 hours. He was there 4 hours.

Ron Olson came out very professional nice guy. Very satisfied with the Quality of work.
