Mister Sparky Huntsville

An electrician came out one day, did a safety check of the house, and provided an estimate on work that needed to be done and additional work I requested. Those tasks were all completed three days later. They arrived punctually and cleaned up after themselves. No problems with anything so far. My only misgiving would be that they're prices are rather high, but perhaps it's a case of getting what you pay for. I'll probably use them again, though if I have more time, I'll also get additional estimates.

Called to have an outdoor light installed and the young lady said I have to pay a minimum $59 for an electrical inspection. I don't want or need an electrical inspection. I just need an outdoor light installed. I'm surprised that Angie's List has them on board when they require customers pay for a service they don't want. That said, the young lady was very polite, as was I.

The service was wonderful. He was terrific. He came quickly for the service. He was very thorough with the service. I would highly recommend them and we have already done that. They were very professional and easy to work with.

I thought he would have done a more complete inspection, like test the electrical plugs and get in the attic and look at the wiring but this was not done.

I was told that it take about 1.5 hours. The technician had to reminded what needed to test. He finished within 20 min. I think it was a waste of money.

Contractor wanted to provide multiple GFCI outlets in bathroom and kitchen when all the outlets are now covered by two GFCI outlets with covered down stream lines. Gave me the impression that his knowledge of electrical systems wasn't adequate or he was trying to sell me more GFCIs than I needed. I was out of town and the wife was there. Truthfully I did not follow up with the contractor.

It is a big deal purchase for $39 for whole house electrical inspection. Very well, thank you. I think it was Tuesday, the 11th of this week. It is just the $39 big deal no additional. He was very efficient and we didn’t have any problem or whatsoever. Quality is excellent. Yes, if we needed to.

Two electricians arrived on time. They were pleasant and presented themselves well. They spend time with me discussing the best options for the light placement and took measurements, etc., until we were all satisfied that it would work. They worked together to install the lighting and mostly cleaned up after themselves although cutting through drywall is no easy mess to clean up. I did dome more cleaning later, but appreciated the cleaning they did do since I've had other workers who left big messes and never cleaned up at all. They explained the lights to me, including safety, which I appreciated also. The light are working well. I would use them again.

However, due to the way my home and attic are designed, they were unable to install the lighting where I need it. They were very helpful and gave me suggestions for alternatives such as tract lighting, but I was not interested.

It was fine and it is something that I would purchase again. I have a house that is only six or seven years old and I think that it would be better for someone with an older home because the guy who came out really did not do that much and then if you have anything that you want done, they just give you an estimate because I kind of wanted some outside lighting and some more inside plugs. When I talked to them, I asked about smoke alarms because I have a couple of smoke alarms that were beeping which meant that I needed batteries and I do not have pretty high ceilings and the person that I talked to that I did not think was well informed for a young lady told me that they would have batteries when they come. So, I thought that they were going to change my batteries even if I would have to pay for that or whatever, but it was okay. The work was fine and he was a very nice young man. I did not spend more than the big deal price and I scheduled it when I wanted it because I work and I work out of town. They came when I wanted them to. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

Overall, it went well. They came out and did a thorough job as it was stated in the advertisement. They were very professional too. Then I asked them to give me quotes for some additional things, which they provided me.

My husband said they seemed pretty thorough and he seemed happy with the service.

It went well. As stated above, Greg was professional and was always friendly. I love my new lighting.

I called to set a time for electrician to come to my home and give estimate. The representative explained there would be a $59.00 service charge for the technician to provide an estimate. That's just ridiculous. End of transaction.

Great job and great experience. The technician arrived early in the appointment window and completed the work quickly. The technician also answered some other electrical questions we had concerning the over-the-range microwave we had previously installed.

These guys were awesome! I live in a very old house, and apparently the building code was very lax back then. I had a 100 amp circuit panel in a very small closet with my water heater. The panel was so bad, it was a fire hazard, the main circuit breaker wasn't really even protecting the house, the house wasn't even grounded (which I was not aware of), so that had to be done as well. Per the inspector we were going to have to change the panel's access location. I was upgrading to a 200 amp, to help with future expansion, so the new panel was going to be larger than the old one. These guys came up with a game plan (we were just going to flip it 180 degrees and put the access panel in the living room), but when the box was removed it was discovered the wall behind it was thick, solid wood. It would have been horrendous (and dangerous, since we didn't know what we would run into by cutting into it), to try and get through that, so they hit the drawing board, came up with another plan, got the inspector back over to verify it was within code, and got it put in place. All for the price they quoted me. They were very professional, didn't waste time, and they got it all done by the end of the day. I would definitely use them again.

They checked things out to make sure everything was working correctly before they left. Will use them again if needed.

Excellent from start to finish

I called on a sunday and they called back on monday and setup a time. thye showed when they said htey would and the person that showed up had a little trouble but he was a ble to call another individual and got everything sorted out and working well.

Overall the work was fine. The electrician was very professional, arrived on time and completed the work. He did have to return for a follow up on the breaker, but resolved the issue with no additional charges. Mister Sparky is responsive and can usually get someone out quickly if you are in a pinch. The only issue I have is their pricing model. They have flat rates for everything regardless of how long the individual fix may take. When compared to other electricians, they can be high since most electricians charge by the hour. I had Mister Sparky come out for some additional repairs identified in an inspection and since there was a list of items, each item had a flat rate. Even though the fixes in total would probably not take more that 2 hours, the flat rate charges came out to much more that an hourly electrician. I was able to enlist another electrician for less than half the price. I think the flat rates may work in some cases, but for small basic jobs, an hourly electrician is probably better suited.

Shawn was great. He arrived early & explained the inspection thoroughly. Same quality of service on his next visit as well.

I hold myself partly responsible for my dissatisfaction over this service in that I didn't ask for an estimate even though the electrician had offered to give one. However, there was a service call charge no matter what was done (or not) and it never entered my mind that the price would be what it was. The electician (Shawn) was personable and competent. He replaced two light switches in the house and installed three sockets outdoors in existing boxes. He worked for about 1.5 hours. The charge was $565. The problem here is that the company charges according to a published list of tasks rather than by the hour. If you use this company be sure to clarify costs. I wrote an email to the company but got no response.
