I have had Johnson Pools & Spas maintain my small, above-ground pool for 17 years. It was surprising to find so many bad reviews. That has not been my experience, as I am a happy, long-time customer. They have provided weekly maintenance pool service, which has incuded replacing motors and heaters. I’ve rarely had cause to fault their work. Repairs have been successful, and I always enjoy entering the sparkling, clean water in my pool. On some occasions, I have requested vacuuming when there has been a small amount of sediment at the bottom of the pool. They’ve always come as requested. My monthly bills are typically just under $200; pool closing & opening are under $500.

Not good. See details above.
Description of Work: Johnson Pools had previously replaced the motor in my hot tub. The jets weren't as strong after the motor was replaced. I requested they check it out. Maintenance man came out. Without even opening the door of the hot tub, he said that nothing could be done, then proceeded to install a twerilly thing on a jet where there never had been one. They charged me $150. If they knew before hand that nothing could be done to increase the jets, why did they come out in the first place? This was a complete rip off.

An original appointment date was made and the sales representative called in sick. A follow-up appointment was made and the sales representative called in sick/overbooked. The third appointment, he was available as promised. During the session, the sales rep was under-prepared. He was unable to defend the cost estimate, provide greater examples of what was available and seemed un-interested in selling me a new pool. The sales-rep was unable to show all but 1 option for a pool that 50k would buy. The sales rep at one point said 50k for a pool was a small amount of money compared to their customers that pay 100k or more for a pool. While the sales rep had MANY pools, he seemed uninterested in showing me pics of any other. In general, i was very disappointed with the sales approach and being made to feel like my 50k was an insignificant amount of money. Additionally, the web site mentions how they will provide a 3D model that incorporates your home into a pool design. During the meeting, I asked was that available and was told that i need to pay 1K for this feature, during the initial discussion, i was advised that this was available and lead to believe that this would be presented during our meeting. Needless to say, it wasn’t!!! Unless you want to spend over 100k for a vinyl lined pool, i wouldn’t recommend Johnson Pool or maybe work with multiple sales associates to have the service balanced out.

Called Valley Pools first to come out and close my pool, but they never showed up. Thank goodness! Johnson Pools and Spa did a wonderful job for less money. Best thing was they actually came out when they said they were going too and did a fantastic job on top of it. I highly recommend Johnson Pools and Spa for any and all your pool needs.

Let me preface this by stating my wife and I are building a new home north of Huntsville on 1.4 acres of land. We WILL be having a pool installed. Getting our business is like stealing candy from a kid....there's absolutely no question that we will be pool owners. It's now down to the matter of who will get our business. Initial contact was made with Johnson Pools via their website on July 18, 2013 and I received an automated e-mail response stating, "We will review your information and get back to you shortly." No further response from Johnson Pools was made. July 27, 2013 - My wife and I were in town to check on the progress on our home and decided to visit the Huntsville location of Johnson Pools. Greg was not in the store and I filled out one of their contact sheets with all of my contact information. No response. Wednesday August 7, 2013 - Called the Huntsville store and spoke with a very nice and understanding lady who said that Greg was out of the office but that she would take my information and personally deliver it to Greg as soon as she saw him. No response as of Thursday August 8, 2013. I think 3 weeks is plenty of time, even for a potentially extremely busy company, to make some sort of contact with a potential customer who has made an multiple attempts to connect with them. July 2014 - We still have not heard from Greg. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible.
Description of Work: Johnson Pools & Spas did absolutely nothing for us. They couldn't even pick up the phone or send an e-mail to multiple requests.

They are okay. They replaced it and everything but we haven’t been that thrilled. I don’t think they replaced it with the same thickness that we had.
Description of Work: Johnson Pools and Spas repaired some steps and I have to replace the liner.

The two individuals that came out were nice enough, but not seem overly experienced in what they were doing. They did change out the sand filter with no mishap. They then cleaned - by removing it and spraying water with a hose through it - the salt cell. They replaced the salt cell, overtighted it, and reached down to manually align it with the pipes, instead of loosening the clamps to readjust it correctly. The salt cell began leaking water badly, not drops, pouring. He then undid it, checked the 'O' rings, said they were fine, retightened the plastic housing, then informed me it was now cracked. The salt cell was not leaking when they arrived. He then told me I'd have to order a new one, or they could order it and install it when it came in - for another hefty. I asked couldn't he do something to seal it temporarily because it was pouring water - he simply said no he couldn't, handed me the bill, which he said was 'collect' and I had to pay on the spot. The bill was for 1.5 hours labor, 200# salt was the only material, and out of the $300 paid, $50 of that was a mileage fee (???). Remember, there was nothing wrong with the salt cell until he took it apart, but my biggest issue besides their high priced service, was they didn't bother to find a way to temporaily fix the problem until a new system was ordered. Very.poor.customer.service. I was so upset. It was 90+ degrees outside, and the system had to be run. Water was running from the salt cell unit like a funnel. A friend of mine recommended someone to me, and I called and they made it out to the house that same day. BTW, we do not have a crack/broken seal in the salt cell, we merely needed new 'O' rings - his service call ran $45, which included 1 hour labor. I would never, never use Johnson's again - what a rip off. A very expensive rip off.
Description of Work: Called Johnson's because we needed the sand changed out in our pool filter. They were also going to clean the salt cell. The two individuals that came out were nice enough, but not truly experienced in what they were doing. They did change out the sand in the filter, but when they cleaned the salt cell and put it back together - it began pouring out water, not drops, pouring. He checked the 'O' rings, said they were fine, retightened the plastic housing, and manually twisted it in back in place when I noticed he over tightened it. The very leaking salt cell was now my problem. It was not leaking before they removed it. He then informed the casing was 'cracked', I could order one myself, or they could order it. I asked if they could do
