They did a really good job. They answered they phones promptly and they had real fast service. They are all courteous and the lady the answers the phones, the technicians use the little booties to get into the house and they are just real dependable. We've used them one other time, so they used the total price.

They're always on time. The only thing I dislike about them is every time they try to sell you one thing, they want to sell you something else. They always want to do something else that's not particularly covered under the club. They want to do something and then sell you something else, every time. They try to sell you a water purifier or a water flow monitor or something, all the time. They seem to know what they're doing.
Description of Work: I'm a member of their club, where they check your heating and air conditioner and that sort of thing. It's a yearly plan thing.

They called to see if I would be available for an earlier time. Told them absolutely. Mark was very prompt. He was very professional and friendly. We discussed the issue I had back in the summer. The temporary fix was still holding, and he and I didn't see any need for me to do anything at this time. Come spring we might need to re-visit the issue, since it involved leaking when the a/c was on. A part that was ordered previously from the manufacturer was a little too big and won't fit in the unit without taking some of it apart. This part was ordered by the previous person & company that had been servicing my unit. I am no longer with them. Mark detailed what would be involved in replacing the part in the unit, an estimate of how long it would take, and about how much it would cost. I pay a club membership of $8.25 a month for 4 visits a year. So far, it has been worth it.

Waste of my time! I made an appointment for a plumber to come give an estimate to replace a cracked fiberglass tub with another standard tub. The time set up was 2-4. At 3:15 a rep called and asked to change the time to 4-6 pm. The plumber was supposed to call when on his way. The person did not, and showed up at 5:15p. He spent 5 minutes looking at the tub, took 2 pictures and said it would be $900 plus me supplying tub and fixture, or $2200 if they supplied the tub. He was not able to answer my questions about fixtures or estimate about doing 100% of the job, versus me doing the demo and prep and them just installing the tub, surround, and fixtures. He wouldn?t/couldn?t answer my questions about installation. He was not able to answer my questions about the valve, and why it would need to be changed when I was going from a Moen fixture to another Moen fixture. He just kept saying "well the one we use has a warranty." He spent 5 minutes in my home. I don't think he was even a plumber. He said I would have my quote via email in just a few minutes after he called "his supervisor" A few minutes later I get an email with a quote for $1800-2800. The quote was poorly written and looks like he filled it out with text message. What a waste of my time! I called the company back that night and asked for a supervisor to call me. I was told one would call me the next day, and no one called. I received a call the day after from some customer service rep asking me if I was ?happy with Hiller service." I told her no, and informed her that a supervisor was supposed to call me back about the issue and didn't. She said she would have someone call me. I would not risk using HIllar for any service.

We had an appointment to have a shower faucet & rough in valve, a roman tub faucet and rough in and a flange adjustment on our toilet. The plumber showed up and told me he had a doctors appointment and wouldn't be able to perform the work. I asked why I made the appointment or why he came out and he said he didn't know. He said I could speak to his supervisor and then he got him on the phone. The supervisor said which of the 3 items were most important and maybe he could find someone to complete it. I couldn't believe he actually suggested that. I told him that I had a contractor at our home waiting to tile the shower so I needed everything done... that's why I made the appointment. He stammered and I said forget it and asked the plumber to leave. It was clear the plumber was embarrassed and didn't know what to say. As for Hiller, what a shameful way to treat a customer. The supervisor didn't even apologize . I have used Hiller in the past with no problems but this experience was so poor that I could never recommend them or use them again in the future. I called Benjamin Franklin plumbing and they came out the next morning. I had all the work performed and they were very professional. $1,700 .

I called All Season's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning on Saturday, Nov 8. Tech comes out about 3 hours later. I thought the pilot light was not lit on the heat pump. They quoted me $50 to light the pilot. However, it turned out that the utility service was turned on the day before -- this is rental property -- and it's Huntsville Utilities' policy to leave the gas off at the meter & it needed to be turned on. Once I realized what was happening, I asked the tech if he'd just turn on the gas for me. (After all, I was paying for a service.) Instead of turning on gas, he begins opening up the unit and taking it apart. He said he has to make sure it's "safe." It's an old hybrid gas / electric heat pump with a self igniting pilot. He takes the sides off, removes some wires and sticks his head in there. He then announced he's not firing it up because it has a cracked heat exchanger. (Mind you, he'd been on my property by this time for maybe 10 minutes.) I was concerned & told him I wanted to see the crack. So I crouched down, stuck my head in as far as I could and I see no crack & I tell him so. (Inside the unit, there was an opening of about 1 inch, where you could peer into where the heat exchanger was.) The technician said, "You've got to put your head in way back there to see it!." I tried looking again and told him I couldn't get my head any farther back. I asked if I could I stick my hand back there and maybe feel the crack. He felt around and said, "Oh yeah, you can feel the crack with your hand." So I felt all around. I put my hand in as far back as I could, feeling everything. All was smooth, no crack. I told him I did not see, nor did I feel, a crack. I suggested he take a picture of it. He used his iPhone, putting the phone in the 1" opening to take the pictures. He tried FOUR times to get a picture of the "crack" without success. Then he put his phone waaaaay back in the opening (where he could've never actually seen a crack that far back) and took another picture. He showed me this picture and declared it to be the crack. What I see is the other side of the heat exchanger butted up next to the unit's housing. He tried telling me the delineation between the housing & heat exchanger was the crack! WTH??? It was UNBELIEVABLE!! I was an engineer for 22 years. I'm not just some stupid know-nothing woman. Ha, he probably thought he had a guilable dim-wit! I'm not afraid to get dirty AND I know what a heat exchanger is. There was NO CRACK on this one. I told the tech to put everything back together because I was not interested in buying a new heat exchanger. That's when he said, "Oh, I wouldn't sell you a new heat exchanger; you need a whole new unit. This unit is too old; it's broken & very dangerous. It needs to be replaced right away!" Needless to say I wanted to get rid of him as fast as I could. I asked him to clean up and turn the gas on so at least the gas stove could function. He SAID he would turn on the gas at the meter but turn off the gas valve to the heat pump valve -- but he didn't even do that. (So he was a liar on top of being a thief!!) He said it was too "dangerous" to turn on the gas to the heat pump because of the cracked heat exchanger. That's when I became open about my suspicions. I told him he was a thief and to get off my property. And because he had done NOTHING, except to try & con me, I wasn't paying either. What a bunch of rip offs!! He tried handing me a bill but I responded that I didn't pay thieves! After Mr. Thief left, I decided to just turn the gas on myself. However the meter valve was unusual (looked like a screw-in valve instead of a regular turn valve) and since I wasn't familiar with it, I called the gas company. I asked them how to open it correctly. They asked if this service had been turned on recently. I told them it had been turned on just yesterday. They said they'd come out (on a Saturday), check everything for safety and if everything checked out, they'd turn on the gas and light the pilot (if need be) FOR FREE. Let me repeat that, FOR FREE!! True to their word, Huntsville Utilities showed up about an hour later, checked everything, turned on the gas and the UNIT FIRED RIGHT UP! The Gas Company said everything looked A-OK. Everything was working fine & the unit was quite safe. This was their professional opinion just ONE HOUR after I had been told by "All Season's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning" that my unit was broken, dangerous and needed to be completely replaced, right away! PLEASE DON'T USE All Season's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning! THEY ARE THE WORST KIND OF THIEVES!!!! Thanks to the gas company, it's all nice & warm in the home. I was lucky "All Season's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning" did not rob me! --------------------------------------- Who said anything about carbon monoxide Mr Little?? Your tech never mentioned it; yet you say that's hat you recommend to everyone. Another All season's farce! FYI: this is rental property & I was not even there when the gas company came out. They said they checked the OUTDOOR unit, turned on the gas, and the unit fired right up. Again, Mr Little, you're either deceptive or wildly misinformed. My bet is on the former. Either answer is unacceptable. I simply asked your company for my PILOT LIGHT to be lit and your guy tried to rip me off, pure & simple. I got no second opinion. I got my gas turned on (as the pilot was self-igniting) for FREE and everything was OK after that. Do you think the gas company is incapable of checking for leaks?? That's laughable. So your tech was wrong -- there was no "crack" in the heat exchanger. Did you ask to see the pictures? My guess is no because you're part of your company's scheme. You should be ashamed!! I get mad every time I think about all the people you are ripping off. I hope potential customers read this review before buying a new unit from your company because you all said they need to because their old unit has failed. HVAC systems are built to last 20 or 30 years. Folks, think before you buy from these guys or at least get a 2nd opinion.
Description of Work: BUYER BEWARE! CAVEAT EMPTOR! All Season's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning are THIEVES... they tried selling me a new unit when all that was needed was the gas to be turned on. Check out their ratings -- they're selling EVERYONE a NEW unit! Average sale is ~$8,500.00. Check out the #1 HVAC company on Angie's List. Probably their average sale is $200.00 because they're REPAIRING units, not just ripping people off. Think about it.

We always recommend a second opinion on a heat exchanger or any major repair ,in fact many companies will do a free second opinion , including our company. The utility company can only check for carbon monoxide with a detector and will not check your heat exchanger. Metal expands and contracts when heated so the problem could get worse without you knowing it . We recommend having carbon monoxide detectors in your home and get your system checked once a year for safety. If you have question feel free to contact us at 256-539-2167 and ask for Todd Little .

Here's my history so far. This is as brief as I can summarize the headache I?ve been having. (also see UPDATE at the bottom) Last year: Joined the Happy Hiller club and got regular maintenance. No major complaints. On a tune up visit, tech recommended a new run/start capacitor. Said they were normally $250-$300 with installation, but *happened* to have some on the truck and if I ordered today I could get it for $200 I believe. A run/start capacitor capacitor costs $15. The fact that Hiller would allow someone to price gouge that much is sickening. That's like a mechanic charging $200 for an oil change. I'm sure many people fall for that and are none the wiser but it?s grossly unethical. Needless to say I did it just fine myself in less than 5 minutes. May 2014: I had a plumbing inspection (Chris) since it was free once per year with my HH membership. A week later our hot water would?t turn off on our master tub faucet. Service call and ?Shannon? comes. After complaining the job would be difficult, he says the cartridges are broken and need to be replaced. He then leaves for about 2+ hours. When I ask him where he?s been, he tells me he went to Home Depot and closest one was 40 min away. The nearest Home Depot in Hermitage is 15 minutes away. The second closest is in Mount Juliet 20 minutes away. He then replaces the faucet knobs and cartridges. I noticed the next day that the faucet knobs didn?t feel right, spring-like, and were difficult to turn off. I waited a week to see if the issue would correct itself. When it didn?t I called back. Shannon comes to the house again. Spends 5-10 minutes turning the faucet knobs and basically tells us ?this is as good as it gets?, and leaves. I?m not happy at this point, but what can I do? Fast Forward to Last Friday Oct 31st: I get a call from my tenant (the house is now a rental) at 8am telling me the hot water won?t turn off. I call Hiller, explain the situation and ask specifically that they NOT send Shannon. He had 2 chances to get it right and didn?t. The techs that came over were Charles Duke and Chris. After inspecting the faucet Charles Duke says that they will either fix it, or install a customer supplied faucet for no charge. I asked multiple times and I?m sure I understood him correctly. He recommended a Delta or Moen. He also mentioned that the last tech installed a set of spring like pieces wasn?t compatible with our faucet, and told us the cartridges were broken again. He said they had us scheduled for 3pm the following day (Saturday). I asked if it was a work-in and what the window of arrival was. He told me it was not a work-in and the tech would be there sometime between 3-4pm approximately. I asked again specifically to note that I did NOT want Shannon to come over. They said that it wouldn?t be a problem and were very apologetic. Saturday Nov 1 5:30pm My tenant texts me saying the plumbers never came. I call Hiller. They tell me that this is a work-in appointment and that they would be there sometime in the evening. Meanwhile the hot water is still running. The dispatcher also tells that we?re going to be charged for the service call. I said that is not at all what we?ve been told. A bunch of phone calls later eventually Jeff Seidentop calls me and tells me I won?t be charged. I was appreciative of that, but honestly was still pretty frustrated at the whole experience and my loss of time. All Jeff did was re-promise me what I?d already been promised. Meanwhile I?m now driving to the rental property and missing dinner with my family. Then Hiller dispatch calls and tells me that Shannon is on site. After multiple times asking that he NOT be sent back. Still not happy. Tenant says they weren?t very friendly considering they were 3 hours late. They do the faucet replacement and I ask my tenant to keep my posted. Sunday Nov 2nd Tenant tells me that the hot water only gets luke-warm. That the knob doesn?t turn past 12 o?clock. He didn?t mention it earlier because he thought it had something to do with the water being turned off earlier. So it turns out the faucet has a scald-guard and not only did Shannon not discuss this with the tenant before leaving, he left it set at the most conservative setting. The tenant couldn?t adjust himself because it required a certain size allen wrench that neither of us had. That night I schedule a work-in for the following day and ask that it be after 5pm since both the tenant and I work in the day. The dispatcher tells me no problem. I make multiple attempts to email and call Jeff Seidentop with no reply. Monday Morning Nov 3rd. That morning I call to confirm that a plumber is coming after 5pm. Confirmed, ok. 3pm I get a call saying that a plumber is on the way. Seriously? I explain AGAIN. After 5pm please. I was told I would get a phone call 30 minutes before a tech would show up. If my tenant wasn?t home by then I would have driven over myself. 5pm I get a phone call that a tech is THERE at the house now. No phone call. My tenant isn?t there yet. I reschedule to after 6pm. 6pm and I get another phone call that they are already on site. No warning phone call again. Tenant is 10 minutes away and thankfully they waited for him and made the adjustment. I will never ever ever EVER use your company again and will tell every person I know, with the passion of a pentecostal preacher to avoid you at all costs. I highly recommend you review the way your communication is handled so the customer doesn?t get a different answer each time he or she calls. Absolutely ridiculous. Had this not been resolved with a $0 invoice I would have complained to the BBB. Sincerely, Ernie Halter erniehalter@gmail.com UPDATE: Shortly after writing this review I got a phone call from Jerry Hiller the owner of Hiller Plumbing and Heating. We spent about 30 minutes and he heard me out. Was very respectful of what I had to say. Told me that the quote for the run/start cap should have been $160 (still high but way more reasonable), and that the way I was treated with regards to the faucet replacement was unacceptable. He offered to pay for the faucet, refund our last years Happy Hiller club membership, and offered us 2 years free as well. I have to hand it to Mr Hiller for taking the time to listen to his customers, the refunds were unexpected and generous, but the listening was the part I most respected. Thank you.

UPDATE: Hiller called us immediately after the review was posted and were very eager to make this right, so we had them come out on Saturday. Steve, the technician was so nice and found the problem right away. It turns out that the issue was because of the thermostats we installed ourselves after HIller left that caused the issue. Meaning our unit was, in fact, working when they left after the third service call (which was the only service call we paid for). I was so embarrassed and tried to pay them for the service call, since it wasn't related to the issue we paid for, but they wouldn't hear of it! I will be calling Hiller shortly to perform some additional work on our kitchen. Hiller, great job turning a very dissatisfied customer into your biggest fan!!! ORIGINAL POST: We have the Hiller maintenance plan and had them out in August to clean the AC unit in the house we just purchased and do the other inspections". I put that in quotes bc each inspection was really a sales pitch to get us to buy other services or installations from them. After cleaning our AC, it stopped working. The pipes froze up and no cool air was coming in. The technician came back out and his solution was that we needed to completely reduct the house and move to a two zone system. The AC had worked perfectly before the maintenance. After three more service calls, they replaced a damper and called it fixed. It was better, but the upstairs was cold and downstairs sweltering, Hiller said it would even out, it got cooler out so we didn't get a chance to test. Fast forward to last night, the first time we turned on heat. The downstairs is not being heated at all, telling me the problem was never fixed. We give up. Rather than getting them out here again, we are going elsewhere!

The Hiller rep arrived at the appointed time and performed all of the pre bid activities; measurements, estimated unit capacity, etc. During his preparation of the bid, he told me I was getting a 30 percent discount. His bid was $8500 which I knew was very high. I told him I was getting two more bids and during our conversation he started getting pushy and asked what he had to do to get my business. I told him I would be making the decision the following day. It pays to get several bids on a project this size. I ended up paying $4600 for an equivalent unit from a competitor who I was very happy with.
Description of Work: I asked Hiller for a bid to replace my heat and ac system.

I have been a member of the club for 4 years and never had a problem. They have been courteous, on time, reasonably priced. But after today they have lost my business. I made an appt for an expensive repair, they did not show up and somehow did not pull my order for the day. Very disappointed after the years of being a member and having them do costly repairs in the past.

We were very impressed by the response time and completion of our repair. They were out to our house within 4 hours of calling their office. Our air conditioner had stopped working the night before, and with temperatures in the 90"s we were grateful for their prompt service. The technician arrived at the appointed time. He had shoe covers on to protect our carpeting. He was very professional and knowledgeable. In less that an hour we had cool air blowing. We had never used this company before, but would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: Evaluate air conditioner, check the system, replace capacitor and check the system again.
