We are fixing up this old house to sell and can't justify putting a lot of money into renovating the kitchen and bathrooms. Resurfacing seemed our best option, and I researched Get A Grip's product and service. I called Tommie , and after returning my call and making an appointment, he came to the house to give an estimate. He didn't have his laptop or samples with him, and he is a real talker, but he did seem to know his and quot;stuffand quot;. I had done my research so I was familiar with what could be done. He did help us by not pushing for resurfacing of the shower and tub, but by telling us that they could most likely be cleaned, which was less money. He said that he would e-mail a bid/quote. A week later he phoned in a general bid, but we wanted a detailed quote, so he once again said he would e-mail one. Three weeks later we called him, he couldn't remember who we were, and said he'd come by the house to take a look again. Which he did, and did have samples this time. We received the e-mail quote about a week later, and scheduled the work. Tommie is pretty rough around the edges, and a real talker. He showed up with one other worker a little before the 0830 appointed time. They opened all the windows and got to work-this is really toxic stuff so be prepared for unpleasant odors in spite of the ventilation. Our formerly plum colored laminate counter is now a modern black resembling a and quot;stoneand quot; look, although not exactly as I expected based on the sample I viewed previously, and could not be matched because Tommie forgot his samples AGAIN! I am pleased with the outcome, however, and it was a fraction of the cost of replacement. So far it's durable and easy to clean and lives up to the promises of the website. The stains on the tub and tile shower were impossible for us to clean, we tried every cleaning product we could find and nothing worked for us. Whatever it was, what they did was a near miracle-both the tub and shower are perfectly white and not a trace of stain remains! Tommie is more than a little crude, but he delivers on the work. As far as I can tell there isn't any competition for him, so he's the only choice for this kind of restoration/resurfacing. I have never dealt with anyone quite like him, but we were very pleased with the work.

As stated above, gentleman and his co-worker were very knowledgable and did a very good job, both preparing the kitchen and applying the paints and colors. I would not attempt this with do-it-yourself kits unless you practice a lot before you try on actual counters. These guys really are professionals.
Description of Work: We bought our home in 2007; it was built in 1993. The kitchen countertops were aqua color. They were almost a deal breaker. We saw Get-A-Grip at Huntsville Home Show and asked for a estimate; estimate was based on footage of length of countertops. Perhaps deeper counters might cost more; our countertops are standard depth. Gentleman was very helpful, especially about choosing colors. We also got estimates for both bathroom countertops, but I decided not to do those until we saw how then kitchen turned out. I am very satisfied with everything. Gentleman and co-worker moved refrigerator and stove, taped EVERYTHING and put down cloths on floor. Base coat (the color of which I chose with his help) was sprayed on, then I chose 3 other "granite look" colors with his help. (he really knows what his is doing with color choices) He would do a test spary and ask me if that was enough or was more needed. Then there is a final clear coat that seals it all in. Final outcome was so nice. I will tell you that the surface is not totally smooth like granite or formica or other countertops, you can feel very slight bumps where the "granite colors" are, but it does not in any way affect the usefulness or look. I would highly recommend Get-A-Grip for countertops. I plan to have our bathroom countertops done by them this fall. Unless you touch them, the countertops look just like granite.

See above. Overall, they were professional, effecient, and helpful choosing the best colors for my kitchen. If you choose to use GetAGrip, be present to look at the colors; they can test spray on the paper wrappings around counters so you can see how heavy or light you want the highlight colors. And double check all colors before you choose them, compare them to the other similar colors so you get the best color. A shade lighter or darker can make a very big difference.
Description of Work: Our countertops were turqouise, just a hideous color to us, like that when we purchased house; they were almost a deal breaker. Get-A-Grip covered everything in kitchen, moved out stove and refrigerator; then pretreated countertops (sanded and something like mineral spirits so countertops would accept new coatings. Sprayed based color, then 3 additional highlight colors, all of my choosing, and as the highlight colors were applied (by spray gun) I said "more" or "that' enough" for each color as it was applied. Then a clear coat was sprayed on. Excellent look. The only thing I was not so thrilled with was there is a small texture to the countertops; they are not smooth like most countertop materials in use now, like granite (which is what the countertops look like now), Corion, marble or formica. For 22 linear feet of countertops, it took them 3 hours from start to finish; then we waited 24 hours before touching or using. Also, need good outside air exchange because of the chemicals, which cleared out in about 2 hours with windows and fan in another room (did NOT want any dust or other stuff getting on countertops before they were completely dry). Now, the countertops look GREAT.
