He provided an estimate of $2100 to remove existing sheathing board; install ODB sheathing & Handiplank siding corner BOS; and reset flashing; paint & caulk; and haul off debris. He verbally agreed to start the repair on 8 October and it would take three days to complete. On 6 October at signing of agreement I gave him a check for $1040 (%50 of estimate amount), which he cashed within 24 hours. On 8 October, he didn't show up, and neither did he contact me to discuss any change in schedule. On 9 October, I arrive home in the evening (5:00pm)mto find his dumpster truck parked on my driveway. It was evident no work had been started, and I had not heard from him. So I called his number listed on the agreement, only to get an answering machine. I asked him to call me and discuss when he would get started on the job., HE DID NOT RETURN MY CALL. On 10 October, I am at home all day, and he neither shows up nor calls to discuss when he will start my job. So I call his number again, only to get an answering machine, left my message to discuss when he would start the job. HE DID NOT RETURN MY CALL. On 12 October, I called his number again, only to get an answering machine, left my message again. HE DID NOT RETURN MY CALL. On 13 October, I called again, to let him know I wanted him to get his equipment off my property, that he was not to do the repairs, and I wanted my money to be refunded. HE DID NOT RETURN MY CALL. On 15 October, I called again, to let him know I wanted his stuff off my property, and he was not to touch anything on my house. HE DID NOT RETURN MY CALL. On 16 October, when I got home I had a message on my answering machine that he was coming to do the work, but he had some situation at his home but he was going to get to me. On 17 October, when I got home (6:00pm) i filed a THEFT BY DECEPTION Report with my sheriff's office. On 18 October around 7:30am I received a call from him explaining that he had not been out because it had been raining, and he had a situation in his family, and had not gotten any of my messages, and .... I told him I didn't want to hear anything from him, but that he was going get his equipment from my property and that he would refund my money. He agreed that he would come in about an hour to settle with me. On 18 October around 8:20am he did show up wrote me a check to refund the amount ($1040.30) that I had given him, and he removed his dump truck from my house driveway. I cashed the check and dismissed the incident report that I had filed with the Sheriff's Office. ======================================================================= In retrospect, he was so telling me that he didn't smoke and he didn't drink and he went to church and he prayed, and he knew there were so many contractors out there taking people's money and ......... What a joke he was describing himself. I would not recommend him to anyone.
