I purchased an ?edible arrangement? (made of fruit) for my mother's 60th birthday on 21 Mar 10. The arrangement was delivered as scheduled on 22 Mar 10. The fruit was not ripe (too hard to bit into - neither my mother nor my 36 year old brother could eat them), the strawberries were old (one had a worm hole in it), and the edible numbers (an extra charge) were not on the arrangement. I called the office on 22 Mar to complain. I was told that the manager was not available but that I would be called back the next day. No one contacted me on the 23rd so I called back and left another message. No one called me back on the 24th so I left a third message. No one called me the 25th. I called back on the 26th. Still, no one was able to help me and I was told I would be called. I called twice the following week and twice the second week. I finally spoke with the manager (Mary) on 8 Apr 10 during that second call on the second week. I am 100% sure that if I did not keep calling, no one would have contacted me. During that phone conversation Mary told me that she did not have any complaints on the 22nd. Her implication was, since no one else complained my product must have been OK. My counter to this reasoning is, if I complained repeatedly for weeks and no one addressed my complaint, why would I believe that no one else has complained? It's more likely that their complaints were ignored in the same manner my complaint was ignored. Mary also told me that I should have brought the product back to the store so that they could "make an assessment." Since they could not make an assessment, she was not going to give me a refund. I explained to her that I would have brought the product to the store if, when I called to complain, was asked to bring the product back. However, no one from the store ever requested that I bring the product back on the three days in a row I called to complain. In fact, my mother wanted to immediately throw the product away because she was so disgusted but I told her to keep it. After 3 days, I told her she could throw it away. To make this long story short, the manager was less than helpful when I finally spoke with her, at first refused to refund me anything at all, finally agreed to refund a portion of the price, but along the way flat out said that she thought I was making up the complaint and that the worm hole we found in one of the strawberries was a "skewer" hole. First, my family is smart enough to know the difference between a worm hole and a skewer hole. Second, I am a military officer and West Point graduate. I don't "make things up" during a complaint. Third, I am way too busy to continously call a business over an 18 day period just for the fun of it. Lastly, I only take the time to post really, really good experiences (I've posted one) or really, really bad experiences (this is my first). Bottomline, this business provide "inedible" products. Don't waste your time or money here!
