Description of Work: This place should be out of business with the profit they try to make. It is over double of what any other company would charge. I was requesting a simple 8'L x 8'H x 2'W wall and the installation of a ventless fireplace and tapping in of a wire to an outlet located next to the wall for a blower. Nothing fancy was request, and a cost of over $3200 was asked for this task ($700 in material, and $2500 in labor). I went to two other companies and got quotes for less than half of that. My recommendation, don't waste your time with their over inflated prices, they will either conform to a normal cost or fall to the waste side...

We had a house fire on or about May 12th, 2009. While there was one wall and floor with fire damage, smoke and heat were the real culprits. After our adjustor examined it it was determined the house was going to need a new kitchen, new wall where the fire was and would need to be sealed and painted throughout the entire house. We took the word of our adjustor that Danny Atnip Construction was the best and he did a lot of their claims. Not knowing anybody in the area, we felt we were lucky to get a great recommendation from our adjustor regarding this company. What was supposed to take 3 weeks, ended up taking 5 months. As a home owner i was at the site at least once every day taking pictures, etc. The sub contractor Danny Atnip hired (Jimmy Fostor Painting) is about as worthless as they come. He doesn't know what he's doing. The walls were not prepped properly. Other contractors who have seen his handywork and have encouraged us to sue for damages and breach of contract. There were certain areas the painter slapped some spackle on, but he didnt sand it and even try to make it match the rest of the walls. Had he prepped properly, when he sealed it prior to painting none of that mess would have shown through. However, he didnt. When my husband and I meet with Mr. Atnip, the Contractor we didnt even have to point out these areas, he saw them and stated they were unacceptable. So he would bring the subs back out to do it over, but each time they came back, something else was destroyed in the house. For instance, My brand new cabinets in the kitchen had quarter round installed at their base and had to be removed. Jimmy Fostor used an iron crowbar to pry the quarter round way from my cabinets, thus leaving huge gouged out marks from the crowbar the entire length of my cabinet. The paint was very expensive, quality paint, they still managed to blame the paint for everything. Some wholes were covered with blobs of spackle, others were not even covered. When I began to question why this wasn't being done correctly, I was met with heavy resistence from Jimmy Foster painting. I came down to he said she said....until his boss saw it and other contractors saw it. On the edges of walls, instead of having a smooth edge, I have crumbling paint and spackle. He painted my bathroom two different shades of one color but without rhymn or reason, it was just slapped on there. But the straw that broke this camel's back was when I looked at the wall the actually fire was on where the sheetrock should have been replaced. The chemicals used to put out the fire ran down the wall leaving raised streaks. Guess what? On final walk through those streaks are still there. What should have been a new looking house onthe inside, looks like gorillas when through and had their way with my house. Danny Atnip the Contractor only came to the site when I plied him with pictures of what was happening or my husband demanded he meet us at the house. After the 5 or 6 time, Danny Atnip said let me get my painters out here again. My husband told him he didn't want those men back in our house ever again. He was told we expected to see this shoody workmanship adjusted on our bill. He took off $500 and it will cost us $5000 out of our pocket to get it all corrected. This company takes many shortcuts. One of which was when laying our floor in one of the bathrooms we found a 2 inch by 9 inch whole where the wall meets the floor. We were assured that would be repaired prior to the laminate being installed. My husband when under the house to look and found that it had not been done at all. He was able to look straight up through the floor and see the blue insulation under the floor. We expressed our extreme displeasure and it was redone. Danny Atnips Foreman, Ray was supposed to be foreman of this job. Frankly, he spends so much time grabbing his private parts, I don't know how he gets anything done. Ray was also the one who told me I had p***** off the painters and that is why he started tearing stuff up. Apparently he's going thru a divorce....duh, no wondering why here. If you are smart, you will not hire Danny Atnip Contruction, nor is sub Jimmy Foster Painting. They aren't professional, just redneck, and redneck quality is what you get. Danny Atnip lied to our adjustor about taking certain charges off the bill and lied about us telling him to through shelving away. He never covered it, we bought it our selves as well as installed it. However, because of his lie to the adjustor we couldn't even get reimbursed money we were out through their fault.
Description of Work: kitchen remodel, new laminate floors through entire house, drywall repair, as well as interior painting of the whole house.
