B & C Irrigation Systems

It went well as I stated above and I would use them again. I still haven't decided on whether to purchase the yearly maintenance plan as it seems a little expensive, but we are new here so I really have no basis on that thought. It's $150 per year, with 2 services - a winterizing and a spring prep and check. It also includes a discount should I need a service call at some other time ($75 service charge). I did like their service today.

I placed a call to the main office last week to inquire about having our irrigation system looked at, as it had stopped working. The person I spoke to was polite, and after checking their records, actually let me know that they had been servicing the system until 2012 when the former owner cancelled her maintenance contract. (Possibly due to selling the house to us, I would guess.) She did go over the fees for the service call and the labor costs per half-hour, but did not have prices to give me when I asked about adding a rain sensor, and asked about the annual maintenance contract. She said the serviceman would go over those with me. A service call was scheduled for between noon and 4 today, and the repairman called at 2:51 PM to say he would arrive shortly. He arrived about 3:05 PM in a company truck and uniform. He walked up to me carrying a shovel; did not introduce himself (I never learned his name) and seemed a bit vague initially. I explained the problem of the system controller appeared to be operating but the actual sprinklers were not coming on. He went to the area of the water shutoff and then started poking the ground with his shovel which confused me. Finally he asked about the controllers, and I showed him where a box was in the back, which was apparently what he was looking for. He did some work on the wires and the sprinkler heads started working. He then went back to the main timer/controller, but could not get the system to work. He determined that a new timer/controller was needed. I was very unhappy about the price quoted for the new RainBird ESP-ME timer ($190) especially when RainBird lists it for $140 on their webstore. To make it worse, RainBird also had it on sale for $91, so I paid $99 more than if I had purchased it directly from RainBird. However, to get the system operational and avoid any further delays, we gave the go-ahead on the install on the new box. I was given about the same price quote to install a rain sensor, so I declined that additional item, as it seemed way overpriced as well and was not needed to run the system. He installed the new controller, then checked the various zones to make sure everything was working. He adjusted a few sprinkler heads. I had also previously pointed out an area were we had water coming up through the ground, and as we reviewed the system, I mentioned it again and asked if he thought it could be the irrigation system. He did a bit of checking and determined that the main irrigation line had a leak. He dug up a small area to reveal the leak; cut out the bad pipe and inserted in new pipe to repair the problem. The repairman was courteous at all times, and appears to have done a good job of installing the new box and repairing the leak. However, overall I just feel somewhat disappointed by what I feel was the overcharging on the controller, especially when they are charging such high labor charges. I would possibly use B&C again, but I might also price other companies before choosing them again. I chose them this time based solely on their Angies List reviews.

Did not go well. B&C agreed to come to my house, assess what repairs would be needed on my irrigation system, and quote how much it would cost to carry out those repairs. B&C did not mention that there would be any charges, or the possibility of any charges involved, just for doing a quote. A representative came to the house and saw that there were two valves which were stuck open in the system. He could not assess what other repairs would be required in the system until the two valves were repaired. This is reasonable and I have no complaint about this. The unreasonable items started with his communication to me on the topic which was the following email message, letter for letter. "Repair any damaged valves and do full diagnostic on system. $345.00". I did not quite understand this, so on the same day, I replied to his email with the following. " Please help me understand. You are bidding $345 merely to repair two valves and to diagnose any other problems in the system? Am I correct in interpreting your response to mean that repairing the remaining problems beyond the two valves is not included in the $345 bid?" I received no response from B&C at all. So about a week later I called for an explanation. Sure enough, they wanted $345 to repair the two valves and then to assess what else would be required to be repaired in the rest of the system. Any additional items which needed repairs would be charged on top of the $345. This seems extremely unreasonable to me for the following reasons. 1) I can understand the need to repair the two valves prior to assessing the rest of the system. However, replacement diaphragms only cost about $5 - $10 each, and it takes about 15 minutes to replace one. That would be max $20 total in cost and 30 minutes to repair the valves. I currently live in another state, otherwise I would have done it myself. I've a fair bit of experience with the installation and maintenance of lawn irrigation systems. However, I did not relay this to B&C. 2) As mentioned earlier, B&C did not say anything to me about the possibility of charges just to to perform any part of the assessment of what needs to be repaired in the system. Item 1 certainly doesn't justify $345 in charges. Item 2 doesn't either. My best guess is that B&C assumed I knew nothing about lawn irrigation systems, so thought that I would not realize how unreasonable $345 is to repair a couple of valves. I later selected a different service provider who did repair the valves. He did verify that the only thing needed was to replace the diaphragms in the two valves. Please scan my other reviews. You'll see that I do occasionally give negative reviews, but it's fairly rare. Most of my reviews are positive.

From the time we asked them to come and provide an estimate to the time they left after performing the work, this company was impressive -- knowledgeable, responsive and highly professional. They did exactly what they said they would do at a high level of quality, and it just doesn't get better then that.

We called on a Tuesday afternoon inquiring about our needed repairs. We were given the choice of either setting up a time for someone to come out and give us an estimate or just having someone come out and do the repairs (she explained that it is $75 for a service call plus whatever needs to be repaired....she did give me an accurate estimate of what it would cost for our needs). We elected to go ahead and set up for the service to be done. She told us that someone could be out to do the repairs between 8:00 a.m. and noon the next morning. We agreed to that. The service technician called the next morning about 7:15 a.m. saying that he was on his way. He arrived in about 30 minutes and got straight to work. He was skilled and worked efficiently. He had the one sprinkler head moved and the other head replaced in just under an hour. He provided all of the parts that were needed. He turned the system on, checked it for leaks then adjusted the two heads spray patterns. We are very happy with the work that was done, and we highly recommend B&C Irrigation Systems!

Technicians were knowledgeable, polite and timely. The new gasket was replaced in less than a half hour from opening the valve to resealing it.

B&C was responsive, professional, and fife client. They assessed the problem and quickly made the repair.

Have been with B&C for about 3-4 years. I found them in the Yellow Pages and they were one of 4 sprinkler companies I interviewed. Price-wise, B&C was about middle-of-the-road, but for what they did, I'd say their price was excellent. Their attention to detail, great follow-up, easy to get hold of, and their commitment to getting the job done to the satisfaction of their customers is second to none. I would recommend them to anyone at anytime.

Service was handled professionally. Installers were prompt and courteous. The job performed was done in a professionally manner. The entire B & C Irrigation staff was a pleasure to deal with. We were impressed with every aspect of dealing with B&C - the office, the sales rep who came to our home, and the crew that did the work. Everyone was professional and friendly. The crew arrived on time and finished the entire job in one day. The foreman took time to answer all our questions and review operation of the system with both of us. The owners also stopped to ensure everything was going well.

I set up an appointment to a**** the problem and get an estimate. The representative showed up a bit early. I when over the situation with him and he gave me an estimate on the spot. I argeed and he got out his tools and went to work. We were all done in less than two hours. Great service.212

We dug up our entire backyard in the spring and summer of 2011. We were putting in a pool and guest house. B and C Irrigation completely reconfigured the entire backyard system to accommodate the new plants and sod. Everyone was very courteous, knowledgable and professional. The job was perfect. Would highly recommend.

They did an excellent job. They cleaned up after themselves and everything works very well. I strongly recommend them.

Contacted B and C Irrigation. They gave me the installation department and we selected a date. I was informed the installer would be at the house between 8 and 12. I asked if the installer would contact me when they were 30 minutes away. I received a call at 8:30 and was told he would be there at 9. I got home around 8:50 and by 8:55 he pulled up to the house. We discussed connecting the irrigation system, but I also wanted a spigot put on that line so I could wash the car, drive or any other outside water activity without paying the sewage portion of the water used. He called the office and they delivered a water box for him to hook up. They arrive about 15 minutes into the job so he did not have to stop and wait for them. After 45 minutes he completed the job and I paid the agreed upon price. By doing this the technician saved me $75 fee to have them come out to my house a second time. This company has been great to work with. The first time when they came out to show me how to use the irrigation system and this time. Both times they were there when they said they would be. It would be great if all companies would adopt the idea to phone the customer when they are 30 minutes away. It saves having to take vacation time by waiting from 8 to 12 for them to show.

We called B & C on a Thursday and they came on Friday morning to check the system and give an estimate. The repair guy came that afternoon and completed the work that day! The job involved some digging and replacing several parts along with realigning most heads. Everybody we came in contact with was great and very friendly. We would definitely use them again...great company!!!

Jeff, from B and C Irrigation, initially visited our house on 6 Aug 2012 to listen to our irrigaton needs and then provided an on-the-spot appraisal. Then Stephen, from B and C Irrigation, came out to the house 7 August 2012 and on-time. First, he dug up an area around a leaking head and determined that a zone valve was leaking. He retrieved a tool that uses sound waves to detect and locate where the valves were buried. He found the valves near a tree that the previous company had buried near a large root system. After replacing the leaking valve, Stephen replaced several of the heads that were not providing enough water per pass. He then adjusted every sprinkler head in the yard. Following this, Stephen dug up pavers we have on the side of the house and installed an irrigation system on the side of our house to water the grass I painstakingly sodded in around the pavers for aesthetic purposes. Once complete and system checked, he replaced all of the pavers to include every speck of grass. He did a fantastic and detailed job! Stephen then filled in the soggy mess that was created from three weeks of a leaking zone valve. He didn't just dump eveything back into the hole; he made sure that the grass was on top and then made sure that everything was level. He worked straight through and took no breaks. We highly recommend B and C Irrigation.

Arrived on time, professionally attired. got right to work. Did a fine job update: called 8/2 to have a repair done. I had run over a sprinkler. Arrived the next day and fixed it up again

The technican was early and very friendly. He explained that my sprinkler system interface we damaged beyond repair in the lightning strike and that the interface would have to be replaced. He actually had a new interface with him and was able to install it the same day. The technican then checked to make sure all of my zones were operating correctly. He even noticed that my pressure gage into the house was broken due to the way the hot water tanked sounded when each of the zones would turn on. Overall I was very satisfied with B&C Irrigation, they were on time, friendly, and even had the hardware there so that they did not have to make another trip out to my house to repair the sprinkler system interface.

The price B&C Irrigation Systems charged me was fair for what I had added to my yard. I would recommend their service to a friend.

Technician was a few minutes late, but he called me to let me know he was running behind - I truly appreciate that ! He came in, I showed him the problems and he got to work right away. Took him about 45 minutes. When he was done he asked if there were any other problems he could help me with - that's when I showed him the sprinkler that was watering to far onto the patio. He showed me how to correct it which was great . He was very pleasant and professional - We will use them again when we have another problem.

we had a major brake in our main service line under our driveway and another up under our back sidewalk. Additionally we had parts of our lawn that were not covered. B&C came out, gave us an estimate that I felt was high, we negotiated a better price with clear expectations on what was to be done and how it was to be done and agreed to proceed in 3 weeks time as that was the earliest that we could get on their calendar. They arrived promptly on our scheduled service day, ran into numerous difficulties (rocks and old construction debris) but were able to complete the service as planned and within budget

This is the time of year that B&C performs all of their springtime warranty work, so we had to wait a week before we could get an appointment. In spite of very bad weather, Jake called right on time and notified us he was on the way as we requested. We were very impressed with him. He was very professional and friendly and fast. He finished the complete diagnostic in just a few minutes and gave us a very reasonable estimate for the complete job, which we gladly accepted. He was very careful with the lawn and you would hardly even notice that he had dug up some of the sprinkler heads for adjustments. In this day and age, it has been a rare experience for us to have a contractor do exactly what he said he would, in a clean and efficient manner for a great price. It is a pleasure to give an outstanding recommendation to B&C Irrigation and especially to their technician Jake. If we ever need irrigation service again, this will be the firm we call.
