I called because I couldn't reach our usual repair/installer and Aire Serv's add said 27/7 availability. The man that answered said "You don't expect me to come now, do you?". The next day he did show up with a very nice young man. They did some work on our main system and told me that my upstairs system needed repair or replacement and that it was out of warranty. Their price was more than I'd paid for the system just a couple of years before. The main system quit again and they charged another $60 just to come out and restart it. They said it had a dangerous leak. Our propane supplier could not find such a leak. When our usual repair man's phone started working he came our and also could not find a leak. Then he told us that our upstairs system was under warranty and replaced the part needed at no charge. I would absolutely never call Aire Serv again.

This was a $99 big deal purchase. It was kind of okay. They didn't really fix anything but that's because we could not afford it. I wasn't home, I just heard my husband. My husband said it was doing better. I need a new system, but what they offered we can't afford.

No show. I paid for the service through Angie's list and the company didn't respond to my appointment request. I tried to call them and left voice mail messages, no response. I sent an email message through Angie's list and got no response. After about a month I requested a refund from Angie's list and their customer service rep was very helpful and promptly refunded my payment.

They took my call before they were actually open to have the service so that was good. I had to wait until some time in the afternoon of the same day and call them back because they had not given me any indication of when they would show up. When I called them back, they said that they wouldn't be here at the house until 6 or 7 PM. That was very disturbing. Less than an hour later, I got a call back and somebody had cancelled. They had an opening and they put me in that slot. They serviced me within the hour after that phone call. My interaction with them was pretty good. They had no indication of when I might be serviced. The work was very good. The guy was prompt. He found the problem and fixed it. Quality was good. They were good.

i paid for a complete diagnostic because there was very reduced cooling. it was kind of cool but could not cool the 500 sq ft apartment it served. two guys came, tony and tony (yep, both named tony). one was very experienced the other was his apprentice. when they arrived i explained the symptoms and said i though maybe it was low on freon. they measured only the low side of the unit (not sure why the high side wasn't measured) and after the reading they decided it was indeed low on freon. the unit is a 9 year old Rheem 2 ton heat pump. tony immediately wanted to check upstairs at the evaporator. he used a detector to try to find the leak. we spent 1/2 hour listening to "beep beep beep" but the exact location of the leak could not be found. rather than offer a repair, i was offered a new unit for thousands of dollars. this was disappointing because in my experience HVAC units can be repaired. i was told that since the unit was leaking and they couldn't pinpoint it, they would not offer to top off the freon. it runs R12. they really pushed a new unit on me. i said if i got a new unit it would be a mini-split. i have two mini splits in another home and like them a lot. tony said that a mini split is not a good idea because if it failed, "you'd have to put in a whole new unit rather than have it repaired because they're just not repairable." my response was that he was suggesting a new unit today, which was much more expensive than a mini-split, so what's the difference? "well, it's because you have a rheem." yea, but rheems are repairable. i never got the complete diagnosis of my system for which i paid $35. i went home and researched rheem's. i found out that evaporators in newer HVACs get microscopic holes in them and can leak slowly over years through these micro-holes. it's called "formicary corrosion" and it's an industry-wide problem. that's why the industry is turning to aluminum evaporators. finally, i got ahold of my regular HVAC guy who had been out of pocket for a couple of days. i discussed the fact the unit was low on freon and the leak could not be located and maybe it was formicary corrosion. he asked if this unit had ever been low on freon since it was installed 9 years ago, which was no, this was the first leak ever. so we decided to top if off to see if the freon will hold. if the freon does not hold, i will be looking for a replacement evaporator rather than a whole new unit. if that's too expensive or i can't locate a compatible evaporator, i'll put in a mini split. i was disappointed in Air Serv trying to turn this troubleshooting call into a sales pitch. i own several properties and in the last two years, i've had three different companies try to do this to me. usually, they said there's a hole in the heat exchanger, which has NEVER been true. (FYI: all HVAC heat exchangers come with a lifetime warranty or a 10 year warranty at minimum.) this time Air Serv just said to replace the unit because the freon was low and the evaporator was not repairable. i believe i paid $35 to Air Serv for a marketing call. this is wrong and i find that in Huntsville it's a city-wide problem. too many technicians are trained to not repair units but to SELL BRAND NEW UNITS. if you have an HVAC that someone tells you cannot be repaired, check out that company's reviews and if you see that most of the reviews are comprised of new units than repairs, RUN!!! keep looking for a real repairman. you can call an honest HVAC guy i found in elkmont, Brian at (256) 426-9304. he actually repairs units, and does not just replace them. in the end, i paid $115 to top off the freon one month ago. the unit is still cooling strong. i saved thousands not using Air Serv.

Not good. The work took only 10 minutes and the technician was here and gone in 30 minutes. For this I was initially charged $375.00 and inflated amount and an amount that in my opinion represents a direct case of price gouging. It was 90 degrees outside and I had a young daughter inside my house. I was at their mercy and they knew it. After I checked with other heating and air companies, I found out that even with the price of the new contactor, approx. 10 dollars, the most anyone would normally charge is around $200.00 almost half of what I paid. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone unless you like throwing away money!

Very high pressure. The phone person immediately tried to sell the membership without explaining the value. The service technician was also high pressure and incompetent. He left the house without turning back on the AC breaker. We sweated til later that night when I saw the opened breaker and turned the unit back on.

It was difficult to schedule them at first and we had a rocky start, but Samantha (in the office) made it right in the end. They did an excellent job! No pressure to sell upgrades, the man who came out to the house for the tune-up and cleaning estimate was pleasant and thorough. He was very professional. He had to clear out a wasp nest to access the unit. He kept me informed in every step of the process before it was done and provided the quote before starting the work. He completed the job quickly and we were back up and running. I was surprised at the price for the service, but I have no baseline to compare against.

I was charged $212 to replace a $20 part that took 5 minutes to replace. Unplugged bad capacitor and plugged new capacitor in. That's it. Wish I would have known the price tag before the work was done. I would have dealt with it for a night and replaced it myself in the morning.

I had to call Aire Serv for two different AC units on two different occasions. In both cases, the problems were not easy to diagnose and could have led to hours of troubleshooting or unnecessary maintenance costs. They replaced a part on the Heat Pump unit and fixed a drain on the AC unit. They two young men were professional and efficient at the end of what I know had to have been a very long day!
Description of Work: My HVAC system was not working when I woke up this morning. I thought it was the thermostat and had to wait 2 hours to call Honeywell's customer service. They told me the problem I was seeing was related to my HVAC. I promptly called Aire Serv at about 9:27 this morning. The woman told me an approximate time and although it was delayed (I know from past personal experience that it takes time to troubleshoot a problem) and the guys finally showed up, quickly diagnosed my problems and fixed it. As with every service call I've had with the great folks at Aire Serv in Huntsville, their service is highly professional!

appointment was maded 2 days in advance...didnt show up until 5 hours...serviceman said i was never scheduled/ unprofessional..i missed time off work to wait...too much to explain..have fail claim the experience was awful

First appointment: I contacted Aire Serv to set up an appointment after I purchased a coupon for a 20-point tune-up. Aire Serv was supposed to be at my house between 9:00 - 9:30am. By around 10:00 am they had not arrived and had not called to let me know they would be late. I ended up calling them around 10:10 or so. I explained to the receptionist, who was very nice, that the technicians had not arrived yet and had not called to let me know they would be late. I told Aire Serv when I set the appointment that I would have to take time off of work to meet their technicians and they assured me that they would be on-time. They were not. The receptionist told me the technicians had gotten held up on the job before mine and that they were running behind. I told her that I understand that this occurs and that I wasn't necessarily upset that they got held up. I was upset that no one from Aire Serv had called to let me know they would be late. She apologized and told me the technicians would be at my home shortly. They arrived at around 10:30ish. When the technicians arrived they were polite and professional, but they did not apologize for being late. I showed them the AC unit and they quickly discovered the unit was malfunctioning. They started checking the unit and found that one my compression coils had died. I asked them how much a new compressor would cost and he said "too much". They recommended replacing my AC unit since just replacing the compressor on my old one would be about 1/2 the cost of a new system. They set an appointment with their field manager to come out and work up a quote. To their credit, since they couldn't do the tune-up I had purchased, they converted the tune-up service to a diagnostic service and didn't charge me any more for it. They indicated that the diagnostic fee was usually around $70ish and the coupon I purchased cost $39, so that did help a little. Second appointment: The Aire Serv field manager came out to take measurement of my house (manual "J" he called it) and work up a quote for replacing my dead AC unit. He was pleasant and professional and got the necessary information. Since I had to get back to work he said he would e-mail me a spreadsheet with the quote later that night. Several days past (including a weekend) and I didn't receive the quote. I called them back on Monday and asked about the quote. It turns out the gentlemen had misspelled my e-mail address and they got the quote to me a short time later. What was disappointing was the quote itself. The quote was done on an excel spreadsheet and was basically a bunch of numbers and information plugged into the spreadsheet cells. I guess I was expecting something a little more professional looking. The quote was a little confusing to understand at first, but the basic information was there. I had asked him to quote me several options, but the spreadsheet contained only one option. The quoted price was also very high. He initially told me I would be looking at something around $7k for a new 5-ton unit. His quote came back at almost $11k. I expected some deviation, but not that much. It was at this point that I got a few other quotes from other HVAC companies and found their prices to be much more competitive then Aire Serv.
Description of Work: I initially bought a 20-point AC tune up coupon from Angie's list but it turned into a diagnostic once they inspected my AC unit and then became a quote for a new unit.
