Although the repair took a couple of visits to fix on our older fridge (as old as early 2000s), in the end it was fixed and we were not charged for the labor on the second visit. I'm so glad we didn't have to buy a new fridge. I understand that diagnosing things on systems like this can take a little trial of things to test and check components, so the fact that it took a couple of visits didn't bother me. The technician was pleasant enough to deal with and efficient. I thought she explained things well, which was very nice. I have no complaints!

The technician came to the house for about 5-10 minutes with no tools, tilted the washer for a second and said it was broke and was a total loss. She wrote out a very descriptive diagnostic sheet stating “tub issues” collected the service fee and was on her way. She didn’t even slide the dryer back into place the way she found it. I donated $85 bucks and was no closer to having my washer repaired.

Response from A & A Appliance and HVAC, LLC.
You were charged for the service call/diagnosis (of which the fee you were aware of at the time you scheduled). Your wife was told that the washer had major issues and was not worth the repair. The problems were discussed at length with her along with options. It would have been unethical for us to advise you to spend of 50 percent the cost of a new machine on a repair to yours. You particular problem is common and easily diagnosed. Technicians tools are in their backpacks on their back. Tech said in your situation the dryer wasn’t moved to gain access to the washer, the washer and dryer sit side by side and the washer was slide forward and tilted back. We are sorry you are unhappy with the diagnosis but that is not in our control what repairs are needed to a particular appliance and unfortunately sometimes appliances are not worth repair.

A&A could not come out as quickly as I would have wished, but I was able to make an appointment within a reasonable time. The tech was very punctual and professional. She evaluated the refrigerator, told us it was past reasonable repair (15 years old, compressor out) and gave a few tips on purchasing a new one.

A&A was knowledgeable and very responsive. We chose them due to their good price and because it’s a family owned business run by an experienced owner. We had our old unit replaced with a Bryant Air Conditioning unit and they did it quickly and cleaned up all of their work. We live in a 1600 sq for house and the unit has been working great. Our utility bills have been lower than ever and and were more comfortable too! I would highly recommend using them based on our experience!

Excellent job all the way around. Our freezer was not working so we called a company to repair it. They gave us a date a few weeks out, so we decided to put the few items in my son's deep freezer. The next morning the refrigerator was also down. We were not willing to wait for the scheduled appointment. We checked out Angie's List and found the reviews for A & A Appliance were just what we wanted to hear ... they had same day service. Prompt, professional with a clear picture of the suspected problem, the cost to repair it, and got the job done in short order. Everything was put at the proper settings, and we were given a time frame for things to be back to normal that day ... so no surprises at all. Magnificent!

I am very displeased with A & A. My problem was that the ice maker in my refrigerator had stopped making ice. I called the company and requested their service. The technician came, worked on the unit for a couple of hours and told me that the problem was with a certain part. She went and purchased the part, I paid for the part and her service, and she left. Two days later there was still no ice. I called the company, and the same technician came again. She then said that the problem was with another part, and getting it would take two days. She ordered the part and replaced it, and I paid her again. Two days later there was still no ice. I called the company, she returned and said the problem must be with the main control unit, and getting that part would take several days with more expense. At that point I determined she was just guessing at the problem, and I told her I'd like to call another company. She replaced the parts with the originals and refunded my money. I called another company, and that technician said the problem was that no power was getting to the ice maker, and because resolving that problem would be quite expensive, I decided to buy an entirely new refrigerator. I did so and gave the old refrigerator to an elderly person whose refrigerator was in very bad condition. Two days later, that person showed me that the old ice maker was full of ice! So apparently something was clogged with ice, and unplugging the unit and letting it thaw resolved the problem. The bottom line is that I bought an entirely new unit, although the problem with the old unit could have been simply resolved. I incurred a large cost to replace a good unit. I have a very poor opinion of A & A for not diagnosing the simple problem.

Response from A & A Appliance and HVAC, LLC.
I would love to be able to say this review is completely unexpected, however, the minute there was a glitch in the way Mr. [Member Name Removed] believed his service should have went I was told he would be writing a very negative review. I was also reminded several times of this during the time I dealt with him. I would like to clear up a few half truths and misleading statements from Mr. [Member Name Removed] about his service. Mr. [Member Name Removed] had a refrigerator that was not making ice. After the initial service call (Monday) and making several checks, I determined he was in need of a new ice maker (it was filled with water but stuck in the "home" position). This did not take a couple hours as Mr. [Member Name Removed] stated it took maybe 30 minutes. Mr. [Member Name Removed] was quoted a price and charged a deposit to order the part. It is company policy to charge a deposit on ALL ordered parts and not uncommon with most service companies. The part arrived a couple days later (Wednesday) and Mr. [Member Name Removed] was scheduled for my first available appointment the next day (Thursday). I replaced Mr. [Member Name Removed]' ice maker and charged him his balance. I told him to allow (per manufacturer's directions) 24 hours to make the first batch of ice and [Member Information Removed] hours to fill the bin. Mr. [Member Name Removed] called on Friday afternoon and stated he had no ice. I told him I had a very busy schedule, but that I would try to work him in today but if I could not I would get to him first thing the next business morning. This was the first time Mr. [Member Name Removed] reminded me how he was an Angie's List customer and was very dissatisfied and would be leaving a negative review. I apologized for the inconvenience and told him I would do my very best to come that afternoon. I ended the phone call and immediately contacted my next customer in line who graciously agreed to be placed at the end of my schedule. I returned to Mr. [Member Name Removed]' house within an hour of him calling. I double checked everything I had previously checked and blew through his ice maker supply line to be sure there was no blockage. I decided to replace the water valve because when I supplied power to it without the water line connected to the ice maker it filled very slowly. I thought maybe there was an off chance it was partially blocked inside the valve itself. I manually filled the ice maker using the new water valve. The ice maker filled no problem, confirming again there was no blockage in the line. I DID NOT charge Mr. [Member Name Removed] for the water valve. I told him I was sorry he had a problem (again was reminded he would be leaving a negative review) and to once again allow the time for the ice maker to make it's first drop. I called Mr. [Member Name Removed] first thing Saturday morning to confirm he had ice. Unfortunately, he did not. I told him its was possible I got a faulty ice maker and I would return Monday to replace it. I told him in the meantime remove the water filter "just in case". Mr. [Member Name Removed] was insistent I return that day, however the part distributor is not open on Saturdays so I did not have access to another ice maker. I spent a good portion of that day (Saturday) researching his particular refrigerator because I felt like for some reason it was losing power to the ice maker. I decided that Monday when I returned I would not only replace the ice maker again but also the board that supplied power to the ice maker. I would also trace any accessible wires to check for any damage or loose connection. Monday I was unable to purchase a board because it was a factory order. I went to Mr. [Member Name Removed]' house and spoke with him in depth about what I thought was happening and what I thought would fix it. I also of course told him that if he chose to have the board replaced he would be refunded for the ice maker and labor. I would only charge him for the board and waive my labor as a courtesy because I had such difficulty with his refrigerator. He asked my opinion about the board, to which I told him I felt like it was the board not supplying power. He asked if I was absolutely sure, to which I was very honest and told him I was absolutely sure he had just a bad ice maker in the beginning too, therefore, I would not guarantee him the board would fix it. I would first like to check for any loose connections or broken wires, however, if there where no loose connections or broken (accessible) wires, I would proceed with a board but that I could not guarantee there wasn't a break in a wire that could not be accessed I told him that if the board was put on and it did not fix it of course he would not be charged for anything as his refrigerator would be considered non-repairable. He stated he did not want to wait for the factory to send the board and did not want to proceed. I did not get to check the refrigerator for a loose connection or broken wire. He informed me he would be calling someone else and leaving a negative review. I told him that to please inform the next company what I had done so they could resolve his issue faster by looking for a wiring issue or ordering a board. That makes the company coming behind me locate that problem quicker and confirmed what I had concluded. I have no doubts that any given technician would have proceeded the exact same way as I did with Mr. [Member Name Removed]' problem. He simply had a very uncommon failure. If Mr. [Member Name Removed] donated the refrigerator to a needy person and it made ice for them, that would confirm a loose connection or wire making/losing contact when moved. Mr. [Member Name Removed] was an extremely difficult customer to deal with, however he was dealt with professionally and respectfully. I am sorry he was displeased with our service. In the end he was refunded his money and out a little time.

Early January brought one the coldest beginning's to a new year on record in North Alabama. Temperatures were dropping into single digits, when we noticed that the heating system was literally shutting down as the temps dropped. We found A&A through Angie's list. They discovered that deadly carbon monoxide was leaking from the burners into the heating chamber. Over time, the floor separating the chambers had corroded away. A failsafe system that prevented the deadly gas from getting dispersed through out the house, shut the heater off. Because it was too late in the day to install a new unit, A&A arrived early the next morning, on New Years Eve, and installed the new unit in near record cold. Despite the cold A&A was friendly, courteous, and extremely professional. The 92 year old matriarch of our family was safe and warm in a matter of hours. Great company.

two visits required,, as a switch was determined in need of replacement, and needed to be ordered. Was efficient and professional. So pleased to see a female technician answer the call.
Description of Work: burner switch on range needed re.placement. Had purchased a large appliance voucher well in advance as it was a random indication of pending problem (indicator lite). I was told parts were no longer available. And while the vent system worked before and as she poked around it, it wasn't after she left. A very high priced service call to be told 'tough luck'. She was late to the appointment, but did call to say she was behind. Seemed like a nice person, but I wouldn't call this company again.

We are truly sorry you were not satisfied with our service. As I discussed with you prior to your Angie's List Big Deal purchase in the case of 30+ year old appliances, part availability is always a concern. Even though the vent was functioning while I was there and when I left, it does not surprise me that it now does not. Your stove had several knobs that were "worn" to the point they no longer functioned and that was one of the "iffy" ones while I pointing out to you while I was testing it. We try very hard to always be on time but unfortunately during your service appointment window there was a circumstance beyond our control. Again, we are sorry you were not satisfied, is there something we can "do" to satisfy you?
