My electric water heater had started leaking. It was 11 years old and has been used heavily throughout its life. I arranged to have George Plumbing come replace it through Angie's List. That was on Saturday evening. Sunday was Easter so I did not expect to be contacted that day as I did not state that the work needed was an emergency. George Plumbing contacted me first thing Monday morning and established that they would come repair or replace my water heater at 8:30 a.m. the following day. Two plumbers from George Plumbing showed up at my house at exactly 8:30 a.m., right on time. Both were clean-cut, did not smell of cigarettes or booze, and had a professional bearing. It turned out that the old water heater needed to be replaced. They had brought a new one with them. They removed the old water heater and had the new one installed in less than two hours. They removed the old water heater and cleaned up after themselves. The total cost including labor and the new water heater was about $635. That included a 5% discount on labor (but not parts) for using Angie's List to arrange the work. Bottom line: I was very happy with their punctuality, professionalism, and the quality of their work. I appreciate they were clean cut and did not smell like a bar. They were very polite, no cussing, etc. I felt like the cost of the work done was quite reasonable. I would certainly use them again for plumbing jobs around the house.

They were very good about communicating with me. I had added my mother's home to my subscription as we don't live in the same town. I was driving down to let them in and they could not have been more professional. The home was empty at the time and I let them in and left as I had some unexpected business pop up for my mom. They kept me updated by phone and let me call the office with payment information once they were finished. I returned to check it out later that day and it was done perfectly!

Quite a merry go round with what I hoped would be a simple two bathroom job in a 1963 year built ranch style home! The faucet/handles replacement in the shower of one bath went like clock work. I had previously purchased a Home Depot faucet, but the master plumber's explanation as to quality satisfied me so I upgraded to a Gerber model from him(I was able to return the Home Depot one with a full refund). Also, had to enlarge an access opening in the adjacent bedroom closet to perform part of the job -- and he and his helper nicely covered what had once been an open hole to a covered access opening. Turns out the 2nd bath was anything but cooperative. I had purchased a Home Depot American Standard model faucet/handles for the bathroom sink. My sink is housed in an old style wood and tile top wall length cabinet. Once the plumber removed the old materials, he discovered the galvanized piping inside the wall was also on the verge of crumbling (just like the piping directly underneath the sink). Unfortunately there was not enough space to maneuver within that section of the cabinet without running the risk of damaging it. I agreed to cutting a hole in the living room wall which backed onto the sink cabinet/piping access. Once done, work proceeded well, but as I watched the installation of my selected model, a particular piece snapped in half ----- so I chose a similar model from some they had on their van. (Of course, I got a full refund from Home Depot for that faultly one, too). The job was "finished", I was pleased, the master plumber contacted a licensed fellow to repair living room wall (he also showed same day and over 3 short time frames did a great job). Done! Not quite as a couple hours later I noticed a drip underneath the sink in the cabinet. No need for me to have worried, however, as immediately another master plumber and his helper arrived within 30 minutes. Within an hour the job was truly completed. I have had no problems during the week since then. I have other plumbing issues to address over the ensuing months. But I have no concerns about who will do the work -- it'll be GEORGE PLUMBING LLC.
Description of Work: Replaced shower faucet/handles in one bathroom. Replaced sink faucet/handles as well as replaced some 50+ year old galvanized plumbing in another bathroom.

Mr Greg George came out to do the estimate. And although he was more expensive than everyone else, I figured I would pay a little more for quality work. That turned out to not be the case. The stand up shower was in the wrong location of the floor making it impossible for a standard shower to fit into it, therefore we had to have custom work for a workshop shower, incurring additional unplanned cost. The french drains were not done correctly nor were they lined up straight. Noticable by everyone who has looked at it. The supply line to the building was 5 inches from the ground surface, which is way above the code requiremet for the freeze level. It should have been closer to 18 inches. They came back to fix this one thing and bent it down so that it would go deeper to about 11 inches, but the curved part was still higher, even if 11 was acceptable. His response to me was that his crew had done this work, therefore he didn't know it was bad. I told him that I had a deal with him not his crew and I expected him to get it right. It was his responsibility as the boss/owner for oversight of the job, which he obviously didn't do. (That is when he sent out a guy to bend down the supply line). This led me to wonder what other shortcuts and shoddy work had been done, that we have not yet discovered. We have been doing all of the other work ourselves. We are almost finished with the shop but have yet to test out the drains. Even though he deducted 100 dollars from the bill for the shoddy work, it cost us a lot more to fix the issues. We will never use or recommend him fo any follow-on work,
Description of Work: He was supposed to put in new (construction) plumbing for a workshop, with bathroom shower and grease trap, ahead of the concrete flooring being poured.

Response from George Plumbing LLC
We are sorry that [removed member name] was not satisfied with the plumbing work we completed for her new workshop. [removed member name] hired George Plumbing, LLC to complete the slab rough-in per the estimate we prepared. Usually, we are hired to complete the slab rough-in and install the water service. For this job, we were hired to complete the slab rough-in only. [removed member name] is correct to say we set the lines approximately five inches below the ground. We would have set the lines at least 11 inches below the ground at the time of the water service installation. Since we were not contracted to install the water service, we did not set the lines for water service installation. However, [removed member name] requested that we set the lines deeper, so we returned to honor her request.

The provider found a leak that was underground that had grown over the last 6 weeks raising my water bill by 300%. They found where the original plumber (home is approximately 4 years old) did not glue the pipes together at the meter. Excellent work. This is the second time in 3 months that I've had George Plumbing out to repair the original plumbers pathetic work. (Highland Park neighborhood). I will definitely use them in the future if I have a need... with the level of quality of the original plumber, I'm sure I will see them again.

We have used this company before and have had excellent service. They arrive when they say they will. Very professional and personable. Although we only booked to have dishwasher installed, when asked, they also looked at and repaired toilet no problem. Thank you and keep up the good work. No doubt we will be using them again and have no hesitation in recommending them.

For the emergency, I called at 8 pm and they fit me in the next day. I asked for and got a call-back to let me know the approximate time so I could run errands. The pipe hammer fix and new sink were a single visit. Both times, they were punctual. Once time, my daughter handled the visit by herself and felt completely comfortable with the workmen. Most impressive, George Plumbing has talked me out of more expensive solutions that I suggested, but didn't need. Have felt their prices have been good. Even when cutting into a wall to gain access to a pipe, they did a careful job and thus minimized the complexity of wall repair for me. I recommend them and consider them my 'go-to' plumber.

Both men (John & Boyce) arrived on time. Went to work immediately making an assessment of what tools they would need. One started to disassemble the old faucets while the other brought in the tools and new lines. Once the installation was complete, they did a check to make sure there were no leaks, then removed the trash and cleaned the area. They finished the task in less than one hour. Boyce presented the invoice and explained all entries. I gave him a check and received my copy of the invoice and they departed.

The workers showed up on time for both the estimate and the work. I hired them to install new valves to accomidate new Moen shower faucets. The work was done efficiently and very close to the estimate they provided. Not cheap labor at $125 an hour but a good plumber is hard to find and I feel they are about as good as it gets.

Called George Plumbing late this morning and explained that water heater had quit working, needed replaced. Nancy was very helpful/professional: she checked their schedule and informed me that someone could come out same day, and also looked up cost. We had two very professional men show up this afternoon as promised. They turned off everything, drained old water heater, removed the old and installed the new and disposed of the old for me. Would have been nice if old and cracked drip pan was replaced or at least removed, but I think that is not too big a deal. There was a lot of water still pooled under my washer and dryer that I cleaned up also. Overall, very happy with the prompt service. My water heater must have been going downhill for a while, because the hot water now is VERY hot. Do not have to crank the hot water on all the way for hot water anymore. Thanks!
