Description of Work: I built a platform bed. King size. I am a fairly good amateur carpenter but I thought I should get a pro to build the drawers (I did not do the top until the drawers were built). I first tried a guy who built them but made much too short. |Even though I had the paperwork to prove I had requested a bigger drawer he refused to redo them - and I had already paid him. The guy at Sanctuary Woods built the drawers quickly (3 days after I went to his shop). He came out to measure before he built them and the fit perfectly.

 + 1 moreMike with Sanctuary Woods did an amazing job on my kitchen hutch/office area. He came for a planning meeting and provided a rough draft drawing. When we hired him, he made an official plan of our project and required a deposit for half of the work and took one of my existing cabinet faces to help him match stain and design style. He quoted us a lead time of 4-6 weeks and completed the project within that time frame. He pre-fabricated all the pieces in his shop and then did the final assembly all in one day, which included rerouting some electrical outlets and wiring the area for under cabinet lighting. The finished project is beautiful and makes my existing cabinetry look shabby. If only I had the funds to redo my entire kitchen now! I have a few additional small projects in mind for future work.

Description of Work: Built cabinets for complete kitchen redo. Had several good ideas that made our kitchen much better. Designed a great pull out pantry in a narrow space. Once in the installation phase, it moved quickly and we were back in our new kitchen in the time predicted. I would hire Mr. Walley again.

I am an Interior Decorator and had a client who I needed to order a custom vanity cabinet for. The previous cabinet company I had ordered a vanity from really dropped the ball on this project, so I was in desperate need of another cabinet maker quick to get the project done. Sanctuary Woods owner put other projects aside to take care of this within a week. I was tickled to say the least. His cabinet was great, and he was very easy to work with. Punctual, did what he said he would do and delivered on time as promised. Will definitely use again.Ma

 + 0 moreGreat!! It took a bit longer than expected, but the finished product was well worth the wait. Mike took measurements during the interview and sketched some ideas right then, adding to my design and giving me other things to consider. We talked about various types of wood and pros and cons of each before I decided. He gave me a price quote and stuck to it, just adding the medallions I ordered. After meeting with me and my husband to review his detailed design, making a few adjustments, and answering a few questions we gave him the green light to get started. Mike did most of the work in his workshop; I went to see the progress twice. I also wanted to make sure the medallions for the arches would be the right size. Mike did a complete mock-up of the bookcases/shelves in his workshop for me to look at (very cool!), then he did the painting and re-assebled it all in our home a few weeks later. Mike and his son installed everything in 1 day, then came back to do touch-up and final painting. Do monitor progress and stress your deadline if you have one (I did not) I would definitely recommend Mike for future work!
Description of Work: I researched the community and interviewed 4-5 companies in my home to review my plans in detail. Do have them to your home to show them exactly what you want Do ask for reference and contact them; ask for their lessons learned on their project (One of Mike's references gave me a couple great ideas about my project - adding electric plugs on the top of the bookcases for extra lighting in the room or Christmas lights!) Do ask to see pictures of their past work (Mike had a 3" binder of before/after pictures of various projects he's done over the years; I could tell that he knew what he was doing) Do look at their hands! I wanted someone who not only knew what they were talking about, but also did the work himself - I didn't want a middle-man who had to relay my desires, that would leave too much up for interpretation. Do confirm that their state and specialty liscences / insurances are current (we didn't run into any problems, but it's better safe than sorry) Do expect to pay a small percentage up front to purchase materials Do ask for how long the project will take and for what extra costs might come up I had a blank wall 13' wide x 10' tall with an arched ceiling and wanted built-in wall-to-wall book cases & cabinets with some special features (pull out tables for computer/phone, electricity in the cabinets, several drawers for files, lights with dimmer, carved arches, 2 colors of paint). Do have a good idea of what you want (I had drawing/sketch to show what I had in mind) Do ask for their ideas on how to improve your design

This cabinet maker restored my hope that there are professionals in this profession.  + 0 moreExcellent. Mike's extensive knowledge about human factors parameters, design criteria and colors was most helpful to us for making decisions about the design. He then made a very good sketch of the design, including dimensions. During the waiting period he called more than once to advise of the progress. His work included little touches, like rounding the sharp corners of the prefabricated wood block top. He has been more than willing to give advice and answer questions after the product is finished. We damaged the surface on one part. Mike looked in his record to determine the finish in the damaged area, he advised us on how to go about the repair and even brought over a sufficient amount of the finish to enable us to restore the surface.
Description of Work: Mike worked with us to custom designed a center island for our kitchen. He then made a very good sketch of the design, including dimensions. After the design was approved he made the cabinet and installed it in our kitchen.
