First, there is a communication conflict between an employee and the owner.  The owner leaves the sale of the used appliances to the employees. An employee showed me a washer and dryer set.  He said that he was waiting on a part for the washer.  The employee quoted a price of $250.00 for the set after the washer was repaired.  I told the employee that we had some issues to resolve at the house such as water pressure and filter the well water before we could test the washer and dryer.  The employee said no problem.  He would give me a two month warranty in order to get all the above issues resolved.
When I went to pay for the set after the part came in, the owner was there.  He took me into the office and told the office manager to write up an invoice for $350.00 for the set plus $20 for the delivery.  I said that the employee had quoted $250.00 -- same as the Craigslist ad.  The owner got all frustrated and told the woman to charge $250.00, $40.00 for the part, $25.00 for the delivery, and give me an one month warranty.   I should have walked at that point but I needed a washer and dryer.  I spoke to the employee on the way out.  He winked at me and said the would honor a two month warranty.
I got the water issues resolved after a month.  We tried the washer and it worked well.  When we tried the dryer, it would shut itself off.  I thought it might be lint in the dryer, lint in the dryer hose, and/or the length of the dryer hose.  I cleaned the dryer and dryer hose.  The problem continued.  I called the company.  They said they would send the employee out.  This is our second home.  So we are that there all of the time.  The employee could not come while we were there.  I have a good friend with a key who can be there in five minutes.  To make along story short, I called and called the company.  They assured me that the employee would call my friend and come out quickly.  He finally came out sometime the first part of March.  The employee ran the dryer without any wet clothes in it for about 20 minutes.   He said the dryer was fine.  We continued to take our dirty clothes back to Birmingham after every trip.
Finally, we had my daugther, son-in-law and two grandsons down to visit the last part of April.  I had to have a dryer.  I bought another used dryer.  It so happens to be the same GE make and model.  It worked immediately.
Two weeks ago, I went by the business and relayed what occurred above to the owner.  I told him that he owed me a refund for the dryer.  He said he would give me half.  I said no because the dryer never dried a load of clothes becauseof a faulty switch.  He finally agreed to refund me $125.00 which is half of the set.  He told me that he would have the employee come by on Saturday to pick-up the dryer and give me a check.  The employee did come but the check was for $100.00 instead of $125.00.
With the behavior of the owner, I was sitting at the bank on Monday morning when they opened.  They did cash the check which I was afraid would not happen.  I called about the other $25.00 but the owner would not return my call.  In fact, he and his company did not return dozens of my calls.  
Finally, I called some of his references on his website back in April.  Two of the four said they had quit using this company.  The other two references did not return my call.  This company also goes by the name, "That's My Handyman."
