Dustin Cox came out for the first estimate & told us he could get everything we needed done. He gave us the estimate of how much he would charge us & told us it would be 2 weeks to complete the job. Everything was fine. After that point it quickly went down hill. When we needed the estimate in writing, he came up with excuse after excuse of why he didn't have it. He told us one Sunday afternoon he would be right out to talk with us about the estimate and what materials we would need to provide. Seven hours passed and still no word from Dustin. We called him throughout the day & no answer. He finally shows up around 8:00pm that night and explains the estimate. That's when the lack of punctuality started. For 3 weeks, he would tell us that he would start on the house at a certain time, but would not show up at that time, he was hours late getting started. Some days he would work longer, somedays he would show up late and leave early. Some days he never even showed up. There were numerous times where Dustin would tell us that he would meet us somewhere at a certain time & would be an hour or several late without telling us he would be late. And of coarse when we called him, he never answered & if he did, he would have some excuse of why he was hours late. We understand life happens and he has kids and you may be late due to kids at times, simply because we have small children as well, but you can only use your kids & personal problems as an excuse so many times, not everyday. I was always told to leave your personal life at the door & to be professional by not bringing your drama to work. Dustin was very very unprofessional. Aside from never showing up to work on time or even showing up, he had no business and work ethic about him. When Dustin was at the house, he would talk to us about how he ran into all these problems and how he couldn't fix them now or about nonsense that had nothing to do with the house, or he would be outside on his phone talking. My neighbor told us that he stayed outside on his phone more than he was inside that house working. He was extremely slow about getting anything done simply because he was barely there or barely worked when he was there. He complained about things constantly about how he ran into problems instead of just getting it fixed. He wasted so much of our time by complaining to us when he could've been done with certain projects. Every time we would walk in, he would stop working and talk for 30 minutes. We realized then that he could not multitask & how slow of a job he was doing. We had numerous talks with Dustin, confronting him of all the issues we were concerned about. It did not change. He was still always late. Would still talk more than work. We found out that Dustin lied about a lot of things and try to over charge us. He would not get approval from us about all these "extras" that he had to do, which delayed the process. He would complain that he would run into problems and would have buy all these parts to get it fixed without our approval. He told us we needed reimburse him nearly $600!! Wow how that added up quickly without anyone knowing about it. When he would mention, "Well I would've been done with the bathroom but had to do this & that" The extra work he mentioned was actually requirements to put back together a bathroom. He would say that certain things weren't on the estimate, when they were. He just lied about so many little things. He tried to charge us for cutting out a medicine cabinet that my fiancé cut out!! Just ridiculous things! He would demand a check when the work wasn't completed, and then tell us, "If I don't have a check, I can't come to work". If he would actually come to work & finish, he would get his check! Remind you, we were nearly to week 3 on the construction and he wasn't even done with the bathrooms. So he went over the estimated date. The last night he was there, my step father had to drive 2 hours away just to talk to him and let him know he would not get any money til the job was completed. Who in their right mind would give someone money for an uncompleted job?? For the simple fact that they could've gotten their money and ditched us with unfinished work, leaving us in the dust. So he got mad for not getting money til it was done. We stayed at the house to supervise and make sure it got done. When my step father and Dustin started talking about the payments and how much he owed Dustin, Dustin calculated everything wrong, trying to overcharge us again. My step father had broken Dustins estimate onto a spread sheet & calculated how much we had already paid him. We found out very quickly that Dustin was unable to calculate simple math & that his calculations were wrong. He began to argue and cuss us. He wanted us to pay him for all these extra things he didn't get approval for and for things he didn't even do! We had to fire him before he started phase 3. After that ordeal, all he had left to finish up phase 2 was light switches in the master bathroom. He was on the phone with his wife trash talking us right in front of us in OUR HOME!!! We found out today that he did it wrong the light switch and wiring wrong!!! We are having to get an electrician to come out and look at it. This has been a very painful experience deal with Dustin Cox and we only post this review to warn other innocent families of his business, ABOVE ALL FLOORING AND REMODELING! It is worth paying more money to get someone who is professional in all aspects! The lack of punctuality, work ethic, honesty, respectfulness has made this such a horrible experience! Please be careful who you let into your home! This is not a post to bash him, this is simply stating facts that have plenty of witnesses and how unprofessional Dustin Cox is as a business man.
Description of Work: Dustin Cox, owner of Above All Flooring & Remodeling, was suppose to finish gutting out bathrooms that we already started on. He was then suppose to replace some sub flooring, dry wall, sheet rock, plumbing, replace sink vanities & shower/tubs, and all that required in rebuilding a bathroom. Once we was finished with that phase, he was suppose to lay carpet in bedrooms & luan where the other flooring was going to be laid.
