BES Construction LLC

This company seemed friendly and knowlegable. They spent time at the house evaluating our needs and recommending the size of the generator and transfer switch. They told me that they would take care of everything...installation, testing permits, etc. However, I found it odd that they asked for a sizable deposit ($2000.00) in advance. They also said that the balance would be due BEFORE any work was performed. After signing the original agreement, we elected to upgrade to a larger transfer switch. The contractor quoted the price of the upgraded switch (a sizable increase) and we executed a new agreement. All through this process, communication with the contractor was poor. We were dealing with a salesperson and the installer. They did not communicate well with each other and provided us with conflicting information. Over a two week period, the contractor made appointments to install the generator and then did not show up. The sales person was slow to respond when we tried to contact her. The installer and the salesperson both stated that they were ordering the transfer switch; however, they could not tell us when it would arrive. Finally, the installer committed to a date to set the concrete pad and the generator to be ready for the switch when it arrived. On the day the installer was to set the generator, he came to the house and told me he had "bad news". He said that they had misquoted the price of the upgraded switch and that it would cost an additional $900.00. I told the installer to discuss this with the company's management or owner. I told him that they had wasted over two weeks of my time, held $2000.00 of my money and done nothing. Although the installer took credit for the mistake, a case for "bait and switch" (no pun intended) could be advanced. I suggested that the company should absorb the cost of their mistake and perform the work as agreed. The company management declined to do so. Furthermore, they did not even try mitigate the situation nor make any offer to right things. All I can figure is that this company is poorly managed and seems not to care about their reputation. I personally would not do business with BES Construction or recommend them to anybody. As always, buyer beware!
