Quote was received and work started after I picked up tile. was told it would be completed in 2-3 days. Working from early morning to late evenings/early nights. Tile was started and placed about 1 foot in center of all three rooms, when Rick contacted us the first night of starting and told us that he couldnt do the work for what he quoted, he had to go up. It was more work than anticipated. Since work was started, I didnt know what to do. He said we either go with higher amount or find someone else. We told him to finish, but not happy about it. A quote is a QUOTE. If you quote too less, you eat it and going further, know what to charge. If you never put down the tile, then let the homeowner know before starting about a possible change. NOT after beginning work. Days were from mid mornings to afternoons and lasted longer then anticipated. Rick asked to be paid on 5/20 and was to return to place more clear seal on steps and told us that the grout needed to cure. We waited two days and desperately needed to start moving furniture in and I texted him. He said that we could go ahead and seal it. I replied 'is'nt that part of installing tile floors?' - she said NO. It is an extra charge to come back and seal. Cost of the seal and labor. I was not happy - I told him I would seal it myself and did not agree with his decision. When quote was received, we had mentioned to him of painting our hood vent and thought the cost was included - after paying him, he said it was not and was extra also. We have not got the work done yet.
Description of Work: Install ceramic tile in foyer, dining room and den. Install baseboard, qtr-round as needed. trim out steps into den, trench concrete for floor receptacle and install.

We found Rick Stojanik through personal references at church because he helped with some local mission work where drywall was being replaced by volunteers at our church. He was also a volunteer on the job but led the group due to his expertise. Everyone came back raving about how fast and skilled he was. So we hired him. And we are VERY pleased that we did. He is good at everything he does. He even made a big recommendation that I didn't think of and it didn't cost anything extra but improved the final look tremendously. To save some money, my husband removed the old drywall before Rick began and when we received our initial estimate, we asked him to haul off the old material which we temporarily stored on our covered back patio. He agreed was never able to work out his schedule to get back to our house with a trailer for hauling. In fairness, he didn't charge us for that so we just paid someone else to come and get it. The important thing is the quality of his work was impressive enough that we would definitely hire him again. He told me can do just about anything except build a house since he doesn't have a builder's license but he can also build/install fences and pour concrete, etc.. I'm not one to hire a "handy man" who can do a little bit of everything because they tend to not be good at everything they attempt. But Rick isn't one of those people. He only hires quality employees to work for him and he pays them well so they are motivated to do good work for him.
Description of Work: Rick Stojanik hung new drywall in my living room plus added mud and then sprayed the wall with "orange peel". He also scraped the popcorn from my ceiling and replaced it with "orange peel". I can't remember exactly what we paid but it was a fair price.
