"It is unfortunate when a client would feel this way, I'm sure it's easy to send text messages, and emails, unfortunately as we tried to explain, the photos are for ideas, there are 3 appointments and if you cancel with out going to all three, you might end up with the wrong idea, the photos are not just an idea for your home, they are many ideas for your home, and a designer uses these in the planning process that you purchased on Angie's List. During the second appointment the designer goes over the photos in detail, explaining the reasons for plant placement, and how each design is meant to flatter your home. If you were called away on emergency, the designer would love to reschedule that appointment, unfortunately we would never just email over photos and leave our clients completely uninformed. Some how being able I just don't feel that it's right to send a few text messages to a landline and not respond to replies to emails and then get on Angie's list to attempt to ruin our name. Our designers put an enormous amount of passion into each design, to not show up for your appointment after 3 hours of design time, can be very disappointing, and there is not a designer on our team that wouldn't beg for you to reschedule after that much work. I wish people could take the time to pick up the phone and call before writing reviews that bear such a devastating weight."
"Thank you so much for your feedback, it was enjoyable to work with you. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you."
The work was started on August 5th, 2014. Immediately there was confusion regarding what the contract said and what the Installation people saw as the problem. Therefore what was on the contract was revised, in several areas in the scope of work to be done. There were days when only one or two people showed up to work, making the job last much longer than should have been. There were constant problems while work was going on, and just today, ( I never got a heads-up call saying he was coming) when they came back to "finish" up......after they had gone I saw another problem, where the pipe had not been laid deep enough so that the wash off from rain caused the pipe to be exposed. I called and he came back to shovel more dirt on the problem area. Yes, just to shovel more dirt on the area! We got into quite an argument, I told him I was not happy with the work, and that escalated the situation. They dumped the displaced materials in the forest next to my home, I had asked that they bring it back to fill in sunken areas, but no such luck.....so I still have sunken places in the yard that I will have to have more dirt brought in when the yard is sodded. The workers also sloppy. I know working and digging in the dirt is dirty work, but my hose, my sidewalk, and patio still have red mud shoe prints. They tried to wash it off with a hose, so now another expense for me is to have the whole area pressure washed. All I can say if that I am sorely disappointed in this company and sadly would NOT recommend their services. I did pay the bill in full, although now seeing what was done, the cost was way too expensive!
"I want to say that we didn't have to revise the contract, but we did, after digging up the area we realized the problem she was having wasn't the problem that was showing on the surface. Drainage is tricky business, because water is tricky, as we could have came out and simply installed what was drawn up originally, we wanted to solve the problem, not just get done in a hurry. We brought went back to the drawing board and revised the contract according to the new information we had gathered by digging up the area. I'd like to say that the project didn't take longer the planned, but it did, we had to plan the project again based on the revision, different materials had to be purchased, and more digging had to be done. (I do want to mention here that no extra charges were charged to the client, as our goal was to solve the problem.) Is like to say there wasn't any footprints on the patio, but there was, red mud is a part of Alabama and in a single moment working when you walk across a patio and look back it's all over. We have taken new measures to ensure this doesn't happen again. However, 5-6 days of working in the mud, digging up her entire back yard that sits on a hill where the only access is the driveway, and the final result was a single set of footprints. I'm not sure I would clarify this as sloppy workers, but I do understand her concern. As far as pipes sticking out of the ground, these pipes were NOT installed wrong, they start at a high point and move along under the soil to a low point. The client was very particular that she would be handling the grass seed and lawn recovery process after we were done. This area is under trees, very shaded, and anyone who lives on the cliffs in madison will tell you, there is a lot of water that pours through. The water that comes across the top of the ground is washing away the dirt that was dug up, she has no grass, the past week or so prior to this we have had very heavy rains, water running across the top of the dirt is washing away the dirt quickly. We would love to solve this problem, but she made it very clear she was going to be handling this. However the client called us back after every rain while we were waiting to be paid and had us haul in dirt. Which we gladly did 2 times, finally, we had to draw the line. Sadly, it didn't go well, as we were completed with the work we had promised, and had completely solved the water problem, the final payment had to be settled. We enjoy our work and love to hear feedback, as we strive to be the best, White Shovel vows to study this situation and improve, because even though work was completed correctly, and the problem was solved, we never want our clients to go through any emotional stress while a project is going on, therefore we will be better. And we formally apologize for the inconvenience we have caused."

Our company is based on very low maintenance landscapes and to some people who desire more English garden landscapes and desire that they be low maintenance (trimming once a year) sometime it is just not possible. We thank you sincerely for your feedback and I hope this response reflects an accurate view of what our company has deemed most important in the busy age that we live in."

They arrived on time for the scheduled service and did a great job of distributing the mulch. They were very meticulous and the finished job looked great. The amount provided in the prepaid deal was perfect for my landscaping. If this deal is offered in the future, I will definitely take advantage of it. For slightly more than the cost of the mulch purchased in bulk, I got it installed. It is a great value.
"We thank you so much for your review, and I am glad the rough estimate fulfilled your expectations. Look for this deal next year around July it is a slow month in the company and a great time to take advantage of theses types of deals. I would love to hear from you about how we can do better with our professionalism. The team looks forward to working with you in the future. Thank you for your interest in our company."
"Thank you so much for your review, it has been an honor to serve you. All of our designers are thoroughly trained and monitored with detailed reports written for each appointment. We pride ourselves in being on the cutting edge of landscape design. The only Stock plants that we work with is having to do with stock that is available from local nurseries. We try our hardest not to order plants from outside North Alabama's growing zone as they do not adapt well with even a smaller change in climate, and it is one of the many reasons outside of quality that we are able to offer our record breaking 5 year warranty on our installed plants. Thank you for your interest in our company. I hope that you can forgive us for the misunderstanding. The team would be honored to serve you again."
