Approximately three weeks ago, our television stopped working. The television was out of warranty just a few months and we had bought an extended warranty. We called the extended warranty service and they directed us to Samsung the television manufacturer. We were told that the only authorized service company was A/V video repair. The first time that they came they asked for a check. The technician helped my son get the television off of the wall and he identified the issue. The technician then helped my son put the television back on the wall. He left without providing a card, a receipt or any documentation indicating what the issue was. Since the technician came in a personal vehicle with no identifying signage, I had to call around town to identify who we had just given our check to. In about a week (on a Monday), the company called to say that they had the part and again, the technician helped my son get the television off of the wall only to find out that they had misdiagnosed the problem. I said at that time that there would not be any way of getting the television back down and that they needed to order the part and be back before the Thursday. This information was not related to , or the company chose to ignore our request. At no time did the company status us, contact us to let us know that there was not going to be a way to fix the problem before the date we had stated. Instead, they called on a Monday with the expectation that we would be there and that they needed to come on Wednesday. When the technician showed up on Wednesday, I had to send them back because there was no one to take the television down. I said that we had specifically stated that there would not be anyone here to do this if they did not provide the service in a timely manner. They left a message with me trying to arrange another time. I called back and explained that I was not happy with the level of service that we had so far been provided. That in addition to not getting the right part, we needed to have someone come out with the technician to get the television off of the wall. I felt that this was the least that they could do given the issues that they had in diagnosing the issue with the television. At this time I was told that they could not guarantee that the next part that they had ordered would work and that the television had to be down in order to service it. I stated that this was not an option. They stated that they could simply send the part back. I then requested to talk to a manager that said "The television has to be on the ground". When I stated that I was going to file a formal complaint with the better business and angies list. He said that I could call 1800 BBB, 1800 Angies list and 1800 I dont give a darned who you call. I then asked if they could simply just deal with my husband, the manager said "are you not capable of communicating what I just said to your husband?"At that point I hung up. I have already called Samsung and they are putting me in touch with another more competent service center that will ensure that the diagnosis identified is correct.
Description of Work: Charged us for a service call and did not provide the service. Misdiagnosed the problem and was simply incompetent.

Called AVS, had to wait a long time, but finally talked to someone. Told them my exact problem, type, model of my TV. Said they would send out a service man on Thurs at 4pm, it would cost me $91.00 but I could add that to the repair cost. I was home at 3:30pm. Got a call at 4:30pm informing me He was running late and was still in Tennesse, but could still make it by if I wanted him to. I said yes since I already waited so lont. He arrived at 8:30pm, came to the tv and checked it out for 10 mins and told me it as broke. Ok, I told him I already knew this, but he said they send out someone just in case it was a small problem he could have fixed. Told me they could come and pick it up Sat. morning, I agreed and paid him $91.00. Called AVS on Friday to confirm the time they were coming. It took 3 trys to finally get thru. The Manager came on the line and told me they were not going to pick it up becuase they could not find the parts to repair the TV, I told him you have not even took it in to see whats wrong with it. Said it could only be these 3 thing and any one of those parts are not in the system. That would have been nice to know when I first called and told them What brand my tv is. Anyway no service and out $91.00
Description of Work: My LCD 65 inch TV stopped working, would not show a picture using any source. It was a wall mounted set, so I had the TV already down and on the TV stand before the service man showed up.

During the April 2011 storm we had a power outage that surged back on before it completely went out for a over a week. After the power was restored we noticed that the right side of our TV was flickering. At first it wasn't too bad but after a short while the flickering seemed to involving more and more of the screen. I called AVS and they were very informative over the phone about my options regarding a service call and how to schedule an in-home diagnostic of the problem. I opted for the in-home check and the technician that came to my home was friendly and efficient. He left me with a lightening affidavit that I could submit to my home insurance company that described the nature of the problem and what it would take to repair the TV. It was nice to learn up front that the repair parts would be more than the replacement cost. I guess we will have to get a new TV.
Description of Work: We received an in-home service for our television.
