Member Comments: The tile was installed badly with excessive lippage, improper grout application, and improper floor preparation. According to the report of an independent flooring inspector that did an analysis following the tile installation: * "The (tile) installation exceeded the allowable tolerance for lippage." * "The application of the grout however was not done in accordance to manufacturer recommendation & industry guidelines." * "The subfloor was not prepared in accordance to industry standards prior to (tile) installation." * and finally, "Based on these tests, observations, history provided and industry standards available for this subject matter; the lippage, grout, and subfloor prep related concerns would be considered installation related. I found no manufacturing related concerns at the time of the inspection." Even with this report and attorney involvement on both sides, Gleem's Carpet One on Frederick Blvd in Daphne, AL would only agree to refund what amounted to 60% of the funding we had given them. We had to live with the horribly tiled floor for a year and a half while saving enough money to have the tile removed and new flooring installed. During that time, we could not walk barefoot in our house due to the sharp lippage of the rectified tile. Since the lippage also constituted a tripping hazard, we had to limit guests in our house during that time. Our flooring nightmare is now over...no thanks to Carpet One of Daphne, AL.
