Deceptive business practices! After being reassured several times that I would ONLY pay the listed out of pocket expenses ( listed on a form that I signed), I am now being told that I have to pay what the insurance company refuses to pay. During this whole process I was told that the insurance company has to pay and not to worry. Not once was I told, nor did any Apex employee ever indicate that a possibility existed that I would have to pay anything more. Well, apparently the insurance company was in the right to refuse, so now Apex is coming after me. Had I had known upfront that this would be my cost this wouldn’t be an issue. I signed this paperwork over a year ago and could’ve easily saved the extra money. Now I’m having to scramble to come up with a couple THOUSAND dollars right in the middle of the holiday season. I absolutely regret ever contacting this company!

I called and they very promptly sent a claims manager. Once they saw I was only a repair job and not insurance, they stopped returning my phone calls. They took over two months to return the last phone call, and still did not send someone out . I would never recommend these folks to anyone I know
Description of Work: ridgeline tiles blew off during hurricane (about 6-8).I needed them replaced.

They came to inspect the roof and gave us an estimate that ended up being much higher than others so we did not hire them. Their estimate for painting the house, which was also needed was more than twice that of other companies.
Description of Work: Needed estimate for a small roofing repair

A representative came out and looked at my roof. They came back out when the insurance adjuster came out. (I realised later this is a ploy by them to get the adjuster to write up as much as they could so that apex could later fats talk you into taking it all and have your check wrote out to apex. I asked the Apex representative for a quote several time which he absolutely would not give me. He kept explaining that they base their price off of what the insurance company gives you. They try to make you sign an agreement saying they will represent you in dealing with your insurance company and your check will be written out to them for your convienance. To make a long story short.....Apex wanted to try and charge me about $18k to do a job another reputable company did for less. Though Apex may do good work I would not suggest anyone use them until they change their business practices.
Description of Work: Came out and tried to swindle me out of 18 grand to replace a roof

Angies list info area "we want all the details"... I'm afraid this section won't hold it all so I will just hit the highlights. 1) Apex Roofing subs out their roof work to a 27 year old mexican who ran his own "roofing construction company". He and his assistant speak good english... everyone else involved with the work did not speak a word. The "job supervisor" was even younger and had no experience roofing. Apex allowed this sub-contractor to start tearing my roof off down to the wood on a Wed. knowing Thurs. night was coming strong thunderstorm and possible tornado activity. What did the mexican roofers do? The through a large blue tarp over the part they had removed down to the plywood. Thursday it was overcast so they decided not to work and left the tarp held down by some single bundles. At 8pm on that Thursday night I heard dripping in my bedroom office and went upstairs to investigate. In seconds I ran back down stairs to warn my wife that if there was anything she wanted to keep she had better get it out of the attic! Rain was pouring in from every gap in the plywood and running down the rafters on to electrical switch, insulation, AC unit... everything under 40% of my house. I tried for 4 hours to carry buckets and place tubs down to mitigate the damage. The Apex roofing job supervisor could not be reached by phone and was according to his neighbor spending some quality time in detention from a domestic with his wife (I came to find out from his neighbor). Apex stated everything would be repaired "like new". That was over a month ago and I have missed 5 Saturdays (so far) of my life (plus 2 week days) to spend the day at home while their people fixed my house. Apex contractors parked a dumpster in front of my wife's garage so I had to let her take my car to work while I lost a day at my job on one Monday. So far over a month into this and workers do not show up when they are scheduled multiple times. Yesterday, I was scheduled supposedly 2 weeks ago to have insulation company come to my house since it was one day that I did not have to work for a holiday. I call to check on it and the Apex contractor told me that the insulators could not come yesterday. So he now wants to know what day that I can not go to work so they can come in the house to blow the insulation that Apex Roofers "experts" allowed to get soaked! I am livid!!! The Apex contractor sent some guys (one spoke a few words of english) to remount the ceiling fans in the 2 bedrooms which had to have all new sheet rock put in for ceiling. All 4 of them show up in a small Honda sports car and have no tools so have to borrow mine. I swear... I am not making this up! Roofers and workers numerous times borrow my ladders since they don't have an actual work truck. My wife and I had to move the entire contents of 2 bedrooms, closet, office furniture, and computers into my den and my master bedroom for over a week. Apex Roofing contract workers first english words they learned apparently are "I'm sorry". How appropriate... "SORRY" is the most descriptive and nicest word that I can use to describe this debacle of epic proportions. Negligent, incompetent, disorganized, awful quality, are a few more descriptors. BTW, I contacted the Apex Roofing Mobile Alabama area manager to come out to see what kind of disaster his people wrought on my nice 2750 foot home in a nice neighborhood. He was more interested in talking to me wife about people that they may know from her years as a teacher in inner city Mobile. Thus far I have made one phone call to the owner of Apex Roofing who is based in northern Alabama in Pelham. He was very responsive about my complaint of being stood up for an appointment scheduled with the Mobile area manager (making me late for work). The Mobile manager told me for the very first time in his life he missed a meeting (the one he had scheduled with me one morning making me late). His reason... he was up late and slept in until 10AM. So... I still do not have my house back - and will have to spend another Saturday coming up while CIMA Builders (the roofing subcontractor Apex uses and who is responsible for the disaster my wife and I are currently living through) come to poke away at the work that they STILL have not finished. *My advice to myself - if I could go back in time - is "don't even let the Apex Roofing salesman on my property!!!" NOTE: The ONLY reason that I have not filed suit against everyone involved in this roofing horror story is that Apex decided to not charge me for the deductible that I was scheduled to pay them.
