My garage door had stopped working. Wasn't sure what exactly was wrong. My daughter and her husband were staying at my house. I was out of town and looked up Angie's List for repairs, found John with A Plus Garage Doors. I called and left message, not even 5 minutes later John called and said he would stop by that afternoon. We set up time, he came and fixed garage door. During Tropical Storm Ida, I noticed water coming in under my garage door. I had previously noticed this but never to the extent that it occurred during Ida, not even during Hurricane Ivan. Water was coming in as fast as I could mop it up. I thought the rubber gasket on the bottom of the door needed to be replaced. I called A Plus the next day and left a voice mail message. John returned my call within 10 minutes and arranged to come out the following day. He referred me to another company that sells the brand of door I have, indicating that he would have to install a metal fitting in order to replace the gasket. He said that the metal piece would not be needed if I used the company which sells that brand of door. However, I wanted him to do the work because of the review I had read on Angie's List. He estimated a cost of $90. He came out the next day, examined the door and determined that the gasket was OK. The concrete has a slight dip in it where the water was coming in. He adjusted the garage door opener to make the door close more tightly. Then we tested it by blasting that side of the door with the garden hose for a few minutes at a force much greater than anything a hurricane could do. Just a small amount of water crept in at the very end of the test. There is another solution to my problem, installing a rubber threshold on the floor. John did not want to do that unless I experience serious leakage in future storms. He lubricated the door to quiet the squealing noises it was making. When I asked how much I owed for the call, he said nothing. He was here for half an hour and had driven across town to get to my house. I paid him $35.00, which was my idea, not his. John is polite, knowledgeable and personable. I will definitely call him the next time I need any service on my garage door.

My 18yr old son backed in to our garage door on Friday afternoon. I searched the phonebook for a company that would be open on Saturday and found only two. The first one I called said they could not come out until the following Wednesday and they were very rude. Then I called A Plus Garage Doors and the man on the phone was very professional and understood that I really didn't want to go all weekend without a door. They came out real early Saturday morning at 6:00am to install the door due to they had a full day of appointments to do. The door was installed by 7:30am. I was very impressed with the quality of the work, door and quick installation. I highly recommend this company to anyone who needs a garage door or a repair. They are true professionals!!!
