Went well. Came when he said. Did not damage yard or property. Removed debris. Left sawdust from stump grinding. Overall very satisfied. This is the second time I've used Kenny and his crew. I will definitely call them again and recommend them especially when the lawn needs to be protected during tree removal.

On my property there were several large trees that were down, dead, or partially fallen. I wanted the trees cut up and removed. The provider, Mr Malone, said that it would be best to schedule a daily rate of $1800.00 per day and that the job would take 3 days. This was not the low bid, but I took it anyway because I liked the provider. The job began on 3/19/14 and ended around noon-1PM 3/21/14, at which time I paid the $5400.00. The property is about 10 acres and all but one tree were in the back portion of the property, and not readily visible, but there was one large tree just behind the house which was cut down on the last morning. After it was down I saw that a prominent stump had been left and asked about it, and at that time the stump was cut flush. At this point I was told that the job was finished. I checked the other trees and found that each had a prominent stump, well above ground. I told Mr Malone that I had expected that removing a tree included removing the stump, although cutting it flush might be acceptable. Mr Malone said: and quot;Read your contract. If it says that the stumps are to be removed, I will remove themand quot;. At no time during the initial bidding process was stump removal mentioned. I assumed that the price included stump removal, especially since the bid was made on a time basis, not a per item basis. If I had been told that stump removal or flush cutting would not be included, then we could have discussed that. My recommendation would be that if you use this provider, read your contract and don't assume anything at all. Have everything spelled out. Just for the record, my contract called for 3 days, but there were definitely not 3 days of working time. Note that I paid for the 3 full days anyway.

Response from K & M's Professional Tree Service
This is Kenny Malone the owner of K,M TREE SVC and what I,m reading is not all true as we price jobs we tell the home owners that in a day price to and from the job some jobs take 10 min to get there and some take up to a hour and this job took 30 min one way if not longer and we own all of are tools and equipment so stumps are not a big deal so if the home owner calls me back I will grind his stumps for free K,M TREE does not have a ad in any phone book are any web so every customer means the world to my business so I will make this right no matter what it takes

The provider was initially a no show but after I phoned him I was told that there would be a crew there later. Only a small amount of work was completed and the provider committed to returning to finish the work the next day. He said he was short on manpower that week. When I returned home from work the next day I was surprised to learn that the crew had been back briefly to resume work. Needless to say, they only removed the tree limbs from the driveway, trimmed a large shrub in the back, removed debris from the front gutters, and removed leaves from part of the front lawn. What was left were the rear gutters, shrubs in the back, leaves in the back, and leaves in the front part of the yard (they were meant to be blown to the street). All of this work was discussed with the foreman who came out to make the bid. To add insult to injury, the company asked my wife to pay, taking advantage of her ignorance regarding the work agreement. I phoned twice to discuss the work and never heard back. $500 for the job seemed too good to be true....it was.
Description of Work: Provider committed to a number of things (tree trimming, leaf removal, gutter cleaning, shrub removal) and said it should take just under a day.

I contacted Kenny Malone on Tues., 9/3, and requested he meet me on site to survey all the work we wanted done. He said he could meet me the following morning at 9:30 am. He actually arrived a half hour EARLY - MIRACLE!!! We walked the property and I explained to him everything we wanted done, which was a lot. His crew is based about 70 miles from our property and he said the job would probably take 6-7 hours, so he quoted me a price of $1,450, which I thought was extremely fair. He said they could be there the following Monday between 7:30-8:00 am. We were supposed to have someone else come out to price the job later that day, but that person never showed up so I called Kenny and told him he had the job. Kenny and his crew showed up a little before 8:00 am on Mon., 9/9, and he instructed them on everything to be done. He gave them a copy of our quote sheet, told them to check with me on anything they were in doubt of, and asked me to remain on site until they were finished to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. What a hard-working crew! They never stopped for lunch, only to get something to drink periodically throughout the hot, hot day and actually did not finish until well after 4:00 pm. What an amazing job they did! We couldn't be more pleased with the results - every tree, every limb, every overhanging vine, etc., was removed and hauled deep into the woods, never to be seen again. I would absolutely recommend Kenny without hesitation if you want a great job at a fair price.
Description of Work: Kenny's crew cut down and removed an oak tree which was struck by lightning about a month ago at the site of a new home we are constructing. They also constructed a pathway into the wooded area at the rear of our lot, removed 10 + additional trees and trimmed numerous overhanging limbs, and hauled them deep into the wooded area so they would not be seen from the rear of our home. In addition, the stump of the oak tree was ground.

Kenny, the owner, answered the call and came out same day to give estimate. He also discovered that we had beetles killing the oaks and made recommendations for an arborist to follow up after they finished. We worked out a fair deal and he was ready to start the next day. His team was a little rough around the edges but worked well together and did a great job. They finished the job and more work that I added on for them all within the estimated time. Even with the additional work Kenny was not planning to charge me any more but I insisted. They are well trained, did a great impressive job and cleaned up 99% before leaving. No yard, house, or concrete driveway damage. The gravel drive we have has seen its better days but that was improved a little before they left - still not perfect. I would and probably will hire Kenny and his crew again. I highly recommend them.

Contacted provider by email Saturday. He called us on Monday and made a bid to do the work. We checked his insurance coverage and it was valid. We accepted his bid to have the work done. Work was completed by Wednesday. Kenny was very professional and provided exactly what was promised. We are quite pleased. By the way, still haven't heard from the other 2 Tree Services we sent e-mails to.

I used them a couple of times this year, the first job one was about $550. The owner, Kenny was prompt and thorough. He was mindful of the property, like when they brought their equipment, they put plywood down so it wouldn't mess up the lawn, grass, or anything. He was conscientious even when removing a small little tree that I wanted removed. He walked around with me and made sure that I was happy before I paid him. The crew was kind of scratchy but they were professional as far as dealing with them went and they did a great job I thought. I was pleased with them.

Kenny was on site the entire time and him and his crew were great. What started out as a 2 1/2 day job became 4 1/2 days. Our neighbors even commented on what a great job they did and what care they took in making sure that nothing was damaged, i.e. other trees, house, fence, pool, etc. We will definitely use them again.

We both knew a line of storms was blowing in that afternoon. He promised to watch the radar and to be here with tarp before the storm got here. Sure enough, he did make it and got the job done before the rain began. Tarped the roof and cut and removed the tree. The neighbors returned late that afternoon and were so grateful the job had been done. I do not know the price as the neighbors took care of that with Kenny. I would use them again, especially in an emergency response situation.
Description of Work: A tree fell on my neighbors' house while they were out of town for a long weekend. Once I saw it, and saw that the roof was damaged and had a hole in it, I tried to contact a couple of tree services I've used in the past but could not get in touch with either of them. Then I went to Angie's List, and saw that K & M's Tree Service had good reviews. I called, and Kenny Malone left another job in progress to come take a look.

These folks did a stupendous job! I'm a pretty demanding customer but Kand M exceeded my expectations in all regards. They picked up all calls and ndash; no voicemail. They were on time to the minute for all of their appointments. Kenny was polite and friendly and generous with advice and information. His prices were lower than his competitors. We ended up paying him more than he bid because his bid was lower for a larger scope of work than his competitors offered. His crew was polite and respectful. They hustled and worked like a bunch of fiends all day both days even though the temps were near 100. Their equipment is impressive and fully paid for (which is both a sign of good business practices and an indicator that Kenny's overhead and ndash; and consequently prices and ndash; are lower). He was fully insured. The team worked together like a well oiled machine. There were no missteps or mishaps. Nothing was damaged despite our near certainty that something would come crashing through our roof. One of the trees was six inches from the eave of the house and further hemmed in by a retaining wall, a gas line, and my neighbor's house. The job took a little bit longer than we expected but they still finished well before my stated deadline. They did such a good job that one of my neighbors had them remove a tree from her yard also. I am very nosey about and generally critical of contracted work but Kand M really gave me more than they promised. This shows a business ethic that is rare and refreshing.
Description of Work: Removed a sweetgum tree from a VERY tricky location. Trimmed another sweetgum tree. Removed a dead pine tree. Ground the stump of the pine tree. Trimmed and thinned two Oak trees. Removed a dying holly tree. Ground the holly stump. Ground the stump of a Dogwood that we had to cut down several months ago. Removed two Cherry laurels that were choked with vines and hanging over our power lines. Hauled away a bunch of yard detritus that we had generated. Blew off the roof, driveway, porches, and walkways. Raked and cleaned up such that there was no indication on the ground that any work had been done above. Protected the lawn and house from almost certain damage.

Hurricane Irene blew down two very large trees (20 plus inch diameter) that fell partly in to our yard. About a week later I saw Kand M working on trees in a neighbor's yard. I asked them to look at our situation and provide an estimate, with their opinion of how to split the costs between neighbors. Kand M came immediately and provided their estimate. They were asked to schedule the job, which they did. A day before they were due to o the work I was asked if they could delay my job by one day to give their workers some rest time. I agreed. They then came at the proper time and did the job. Their equipment was appropriate and the operating skills were excellent. The job was well done with care not to damage either yard. They met their price (650 for my neighbor 350 for me) even after doing an add on job for my neighbor. At the finish of the job Kand M cleaned the work area in both yards and hauled away all the trees and debris. Both my neighbor and I were happy with the experience.
Description of Work: Cut up fallen trees hauled away all debris, protected yards from ruts ensured no damage to irrigation system in the work area cleaned up after job

Great. Very proffessional and efficient.
Description of Work: A large tree in my front yard next to the street has been dying slowly for several years. There were large to medium dead limbs scattered throughout it, and one would fall into my yard or the street every few weeks. There were power and telephone lines on both sides of the tree. I called Kenny to get an estimate on the removal of the tree before it or one of its limbs fell and injured or killed someone. He gave me a good price and assured me that they would not tear down any of the utility lines around it. His crew came out about two weeks after the first visit and took the tree down in about four hours with no damage to any lines. They were more artists than tree removal specialists. It was a real pleasure to watch them work.

After the storm of 4-11-2011 in Birmingham area we had broken branches high in our pine and water oak trees in the front yard. (our neighbors on either side and all along our street had large trees blown over) KRM (their card reads K'M) were working next door and we asked them for an estimate, which was $175.00. See * below. They worked for about two hours of which 1.5 hours was spent on a very large limb in the pine that had twisted and split and had gone unnoticed from the ground view. It would have been a big problem later on - had not the workman in the aerial bucket not seen it and pointed it out. This, plus the original work required the bucket trick to be re positioned 3 times with 3 separate piles of limbs dropped neatly from the bucket. (If you' ve ever dealt with a spruce pine you know it's like wrestling with barb wire.) The clean up was through and the whole job was professionally done - aided in part by an experienced crew and investment in the right equipment by Mr Malone. * After the discovery of the additional work needed in the spruce pine Mr Malone was going to stick with the original estimate of $175.00 but we added $50.00 because we felt the additional time involved warranted the extra money. But he did not require it and was more than willing to stick with the original estimate.

The job took about 4 hours. Everything that was agreed upon was done. The cutting was sometimes a bit ragged, leaving a number of splintered limbs in places. The trees looked pretty bad until they re-sprouted shoots. Some minor damage was done to flower beds in dragging brush away, but nothing major. I found out later the power company would have done the job for free, however, and I think KRM probably knew this but didn't tell me. They were under no obligation to do so, however. All in all, they were OK and did what they bid on.
