.We met contractor at Lowes and we bought all materials, which turned out to be about $2,000 versus the $1,000 we anticipated. The forecast by contractor was to complete project in 1 week. We visited the site many (over 10) times and only found them working 1 time. Some days no work at all. There were days went by with no work at all. It took over 3 weeks before they called and said "we are done". A walk-through led us to think the work had been done, although we could not see nearly all of the materials we had bought used. We could see that, contrary to their specific promise they would scrape old paint from wood windows before painting, the windows had not been touched ... not even painted. This was mid-afternoon on a Friday. They told us it would be Monday before their painter could return to take care of the windows. There was also damaged paint in the bathroom from installation of the tub, which they also were to repaint the next Monday. Only when our new tenant called us did we learn that the plumbing under the kitchen sink was not even connected. The water line underneath the toilet they had reinstalled was leaking and had soaked the bathroom floor. We had to hire a plumber to complete the work at a cost of over $300. The window painting was never done. A check on the internet afterward revealed many complaints about these men, including an "F" rating by the Better Business Bureau, because these men failed to respond to 7 consumer complaints to BBB.
