We met with several contractors and picked Saunders Bradford as one we wanted to provide an estimate. They came and listened very carefully to what we wanted, and within a week they provided a very professional written and bound document explaining all the work that was to be performed and the cost of each piece and phase of the work. They were not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but I was more impressed with the person I worked with and the manner in which they responded to my request. Prior to starting the work, they even offered suggestions on improvements in addition to what I asked for and provided photographs of other jobs they had completed as examples. We decided to add a paver apron to the new driveway we wanted based on what we saw. Once we agreed on a contract price and start date, they began with the demolition of the old deck and promptly took it down and hauled of the debris. I had made a one time statement that I wanted to retain some of the old 8' x 8' posts for later projects, and they remembered and stacked those off to the side after busting off the concrete. They even set up a port-o-potty for the workers so they would not be tracking into my house or using my yard as a bathroom. When they start in on the concrete pad for the patio for under the deck, they promptly notified me of an unforeseen issue in which we quickly agreed on a solution. They completed the pour of the concrete pad and within a few days were beginning constrution of the deck. We did have a slight design change which I agreed upon after they noticed that if they had stuck with a design, the roof edge would have pertruded beyoun the side of the house. I thought this was a good catch before they started framing and got to the point that it would have been too late to change. After framing out the upper portion of the deck, I realized that the height of the ceiling was not up to my expectations, but they were able to rework the framing to my satisfaction. They completed the deck construction and the roofing the over the deck. After much rain when and when we were not in jeopardy of chancing a bad concrete pour, they pulled up the old driveway and graded and formed the driveway ready for pour. They completed the concrete and added the paver apron. The paver apron was exceptionally done and was a nice addition to the original plan. The completed the inside of the enclosed portion of the deck and screened it all in. They cleaned up after all the work. This turned out to be a great looking deck and driveaway and we could not be more pleased. Very professionally done. My neighbors are giving all kinds of compliments on the work.
Description of Work: We wanted an old 12x24 foot open deck removed, which was 10ft elevated with a flight of stairs leading up to the deck. There was not a concrete paid underneath, only a concrete walkway leading from the driveway. We also had a large driveway that was cracking that we wanted removed. We wanted a new deck that spanned the full length of the back of the house and also deeper, where 2/3 were to be roofed and screened in, an the other third portion of the deck open on one side. the deck was to measure 14' x 32' We wanted a new concrete pad under the deck, approx 20'x30' in size, that would tie into a new driveway.

I wanted some things done to my kitchen. I wanted to pay as I went. He told me it might take a couple of weeks because of the old paint. They subbed out the painting. It took the crew about six or seven weeks to paint my kitchen. My kitchen is not that big. I would call Frank, and he said that it was something the painter should be doing. When I talked to the supervisor of the painters, he said that it was something Frank should be doing. They needed to smooth out an area and caulk it. It took a lot longer. If he had somebody out here doing what they were supposed to do. It would not have taken as long and my house would not have smelled as bad as it did for as long. They did a good job with the installation. I had to go in everyday and say and ldquo;shouldn't you be doing this?and rdquo; and they would say no. I would call Frank and Frank would call the other guy. It took a lot of extra effort to make sure that the job was getting done and I did not want to have to do that. It was simple little things that I was having to tell them to do. These were professional painters. The painting got done and was fine. After that got done and I had paid them, I told him I needed to get the rest of my work finished. I started asking him in July to get me a quote. He brought me samples of the granite and I told him what I wanted. Finally at the end of September, he told me what it would cost for the granite and the granite installation. He brought out different kinds of backsplash. He quoted me $8500 for the backsplash, the granite, and the appliances and to do my island. I told him to go ahead. I told him that I wanted to have it done before the holidays. He kept putting me off. He kept telling me I needed to go by and pick out a back splash. I kept asking him when he was going too get started and he said he was busy. Time was passing and finally I asked if he could just do the island. They installed that. I asked him when he could finish. He did not come out when he said he would. He said it will cost $2700 more than the original price and I was going to have to pay for the back splash. I told him I was not going to pay it. I called the company that I had bought the appliances from and they delivered them and the delivery guy told me about another company. They did not finish the job and then wanted to charge me $3000 more. Frank was a likeable guy. Then they wanted to raise the price for my tile floor. Things were getting uncomfortable with Frank and I. Frank would not contact me or return my calls or emails. I wanted to be fair. The work they did do was good. It was that they dragged it out so long.
Description of Work: Saunders Bradford started the work on my kitchen and did not finish. I dealt with a man named Frank who came out and quoted me a price for painting my cabinets; install my new hinges and pulls, which I had already bought. I wanted them to take out the microwave, redo that area, and install an oven. Installed the stove and the microwave. They installed the island. I paid them $2400 to install a piece of 4 by 4 granite and a grill, which seemed like a lot for what they did.

We had a deck installed about a year ago- before we had Angie's List. The finished product was poorly done. We knew of Saunder's reputation, so called them to check it out, and advise us of any needed repairs. Frank, in charge of home maintenance, came out and gave the deck a thorough exam. He found a number of issues, and informed us what it needed, but also what we could get by doing, and still have a very safe deck. He worked with us on the price. His workers were clean cut and very mannerly. They did an outstanding job, and we will certainly use them again!

Very professional, on time throughout the project, had great trust in them and great people to work with. They made us feel like we were the only customer they had. Our only issue was communication with pricing when materials went up but we would highly recommend them and the project turned out very well.

Job went well. some challenges with the bathroom fan installation. Finished job was good !
Description of Work: We had some screening on the ends of the home that needed replaced and secured and had them install a floor plug in the living room ( wood floor ) and installed a fan above the shower in the masterbath ( had to cut through tile ). The fan presented a bit of a challenge because of floor joists above but Frank came up with an alternate that works great. They are very professional and did a good job. Prompt and maintained good communication if they could not arrived as scheduled. A bit higher priced , but we got what we paid for. Good job overall would recommend for jobs you dont want to tackle around the home..
