Description of Work: I hired Mr. Electric as an authorized electrician installer for a Cummins-Onan whole home generator. Their main office is in Huntsville with a branch in Birmingham. They were true professionals for most of the time here and day. Their work was done very well. The price was a bit high, as I believe the "authorized installer" almost gives them an exclusive monopoly for installing Cummins-Onan. I think this was about a 20% higher charge than what competing electricians of high quality would have done. Overall, the guys where nice, where here all day (10-12 hour job), took many breaks was hot that day, and got the job done.

It didn't go. See above
Description of Work: On Friday Jan 2 in the PM, I spoke with Jan. I was inquiring about an estimate for our business regarding extensive electrical work. I was told that someone would call me on Mon. the 5th. No one called or even bothered to call and reschedule. Too bad. Ours is a business with ongoing electrical issues. It would have been a good job

They were pretty expensive. They won't come to customer's house. They charge $49 to come to the house, which I don't understand. If one wants to fix anything, then it is $189 the first hour. The guy who came out charged $189 to put a switch. They did show up on time. They were courteous. I was not happy at all for the price. He had done a work for my mother a month before this visit. My mother is old, and I told her not to use him again. They are way too expensive. They are a trust-worthy company. I have an electrician; he told me that they over-charged her on the work. They are very honest about it, and they told me upfront what they are going to charge; so they are not dishonest.
Description of Work: I hired Mr. Electric to do some electrical work at my mother's residence in June. The power went off, and we thought it was a generator problem. One of the master switches had been tripped, and they put a switch for us.

The technician came out to give an estimate of the job, which at the time included re-wiring for a new electric stove we purchased. The estimate cost $70. This is included in the cost of the job if they do it. The connection to our kitchen ceiling fan had faulty wiring and did not work, as well as preventing the light switch on the wall from working . We also needed the wiring checked to connect a new electric stove. We previously used gas. Once there, he found that our wiring was not up to current code since the house was over 40 yrs old. The estimate of six to seven thousand dollars was prohibitive, so we exchanged our new electric stove for a new gas one and didn't re-wire. He completed the repair in the ceiling for the ceiling fan as well as repaired the switch connection on the wall. He explained why the wiring failed and what he was doing to repair it. It took about an hour and a half if I remember correctly. I was very pleased w/his professionalism and work ethic. I don't remember his name because this was over a year ago.
Description of Work: Reconnected power to kitchen ceiling fan as well as repairing connection to kitchen wall switch.

Very well.
Description of Work: Sockets of recessed lights in kitchen had burned out due to using bulbs with too-high wattage. The technician had to order one replacement to get the right fit and came back a day later. He also checked and replaced smoke detectors built=-nto the electrical system, and in one case, he had to replace a new unit twice until he got it to work correctly, which he did.

Our upstairs air conditioner kept cutting out for about an hour and then coming back on again. I called this company and they told me it would be a $29.95 call out fee. As soon as the electrician got to the house he said if I wanted him to do a diagnostic test it would be $144, of course I wanted him to find out what was wrong so I said go ahead. He spent hardly any time at all at the breaker box just giving it a brief look. He had no idea what was wrong, but there were two outlets inaccessible to him because of heavy furniture in front of them which he was reluctant to move. I told him I would take all the stuff out of the furniture and my husband and I would move it for him so he could come back and finish his diagnostic work. He said it would be $90 to come back! I called the company, talked with the owner, and the owner agreed that he would send this electrician back to finish his test free of charge so long as he did nothing else except test those two outlets. Anything else would be an extra charge he said. I agreed, but before the electrician could come out later that same day the air conditioner broke down completely, so instead of waiting for the electrician I called our air conditioner service engineer who came out promptly and found the problem within two minutes!! He went to the breaker box and listened, he could hear a hissing noise so he unscrewed the front off the breaker box (something the qualified electrician had not done) and put the palm of his hand on the breaker switches pressing them all and easing them a little. That is all he did! We both went upstairs to see what had happened, if anything, and the electricity had come back on! The air conditioner was working and the lights in the bedroom and bathroom underneath. So he asked me to stay upstairs to shout down when the lights went off while he threw each switch separately. When he had found the breaker he pulled it out of the box; it was so hot he could hardly touch it. He said "that's your problem, right there, but I can't repair it for you because I am not a qualified electrician; you will have to get them back again to replace this breaker." He charged me $75 call out fee. When I called "Mr Electric" again, naturally I was furious, so they agreed to come out and replace the breaker just for the price of the breaker. Another electrician came out (20 years experience he said) and he replaced the breaker and charged me $51 (I expected about $10). Needless to say, we will not be using this company again, they told me I would just be charged for the breaker! On top of all that, this second electrician stuck his company card in the breaker box without my permission, something I probably would not have discovered for a long time if it had not been for my husband checking up on the work he had done. By that time it would have been so well and truly stuck on that it would have been impossible to remove.
Description of Work: About one and a half hours was spent by rookie electrician searching for problem, then another electrician came later to replace a breaker. $144 charged for useless search, then further $51 to install breaker.

He was a little bit high on his price but he did everything he said he would do. The electrical work he did was outstanding. He did quote me a price and kept to it. He also he did not charge me for the surge protector.
Description of Work: We had a problem with the circuit when we turned on our stove. Our house is old and we had the old plug-in for the stove gutted and rewired. He also rewired everything that went from the outside of the house all the way to the inside circuit box. He also replaced the meter and surge protector for my house.

Whenever we need new bulbs on the outside they company comes in no time at all and replaces the bulbs. They workers are very friendly and have worked hard to please us. They do a great job.
Description of Work: We wanted to be able to see well coming up our driveway and going out so we had new lights installed on the outside of our home along the driveway. There was also small work done inside of the home. New wiring and a new box in the basement.
