An older man was the only person in the store on the day that I walked in. I thought I'd found the right lamp for my needs and purchased it. Once I'd gotten the lamp home, I discovered that it was to wide for the space that I'd purchased it for...once I'd taken the plastic off of the shade I also discovered that the dual-layering of the shade had completely mis-aligned seams, a manufacturing error. Since I noticed that the receipt had a less than 24 hour return policy (not the law in Alabama), I went immediately to exchange the lamp for a more expensive one at the same store that I also liked. I walked in with the lamp (and one that I needed to be repaired)...and before I could finish my sentence "the lamp was too big..." I was told that there were NO REFUNDS if the plastic was removed from the shade...the man then rudely indicated a little sign taped to the checkout desk. I was not permitted to discuss EXCHANGE or the defective shade. I simply left...Now I know why this place is always empty!!! To follow up, I went and purchased another lamp from a different vendor in town as well as 6 others (total order was close to $1800.00 (I was furnishing a new home)...I hope the old guy enjoys that $175.00...you just lost $1625.00 due to poor negotiating skills and very bad customer service.
Description of Work: Sold me a table lamp but did not apprise me of the 'fine print'. Note their return policy is less than 24 hours from date of purchase. Very poor customer service.

This is my first negative review on Angie's List! My elderly mother gave us a floor lamp for the family gift this Christmas, but we had no spot in our house for it and wanted to discretely swap it for a needed desk lamp. Luckily the "Lamps Fantastic" name was on the side of the box, so today I took my family down to help pick out a replacement. A man at the door met us with a scowl and quickly stated there were no refunds. I said that store credit would be fine and he asked if I had a receipt. I explained the nature of the gift and my mother's age, but he could have cared less. I assumed my mother spent 50-75$ for the lamp and I was willing to spend up to another $100 to get a nice desk lamp for my office. Merchants like this are what is destroying small box retail. Save yourself and go to Walmart!
