It got fairly late and he realized that he needed additional materials to provide the best setup but at that point his supplier was closed for the day. He returned on another day to complete the services, explained what he had done and any actions that I needed to perform. Freedom Heating and Cooling also installed my furnace and compressor in the past and performs the regular maintenance service. They are very professional, have accommodated my needs, and have provided excellent service. I would recommend them.

+ -1 moreMy furnace was not working so I called Freedom Heating (they were the original installer of my HVAC system in 2010) last night at 8:30pm and was able to quickly set up an appointment time for first thing the next morning (today). The technician called me at 7:30am this morning and said he was running early and confirmed with me that was okay. The technician found there was a failure in the gas valve - since this was not a normal item carried on the truck he had to run to Birmingham to get the part. I asked how long it would take and he gave me an estimate of the time to get the part, install it, and perform a system test. Since this was an acceptable time-line I agreed to this. He returned on time and was able to complete his work as he estimated. The system is working perfectly now! The technician was knowledeable, courteous and professional. Grade A+ service!
Description of Work: Replacement of a "gas valve" on the furnace. The valve was not opening therefore the system would not function. Also, included in the visit was the semi-annual 'checkup / tuneup'.

+ -1 moreService person came and told me that my system was about to completely go out and that no repair could be done due to new regulations coming. Then two other men showed up. One seemed to be occupying me while the others decided what to sell me. They then gave me my options and I told them I would let them know. It all seemed a little sketchy but I had no other option since I needed a/c and they were on this site. I called the sales person to purchase the system I "had" to have. I left 2 voicemails on the salesman's cellphone and got no return call. That worked out for the best since I was forced to call someone else. The other company was very professional and told me that repairing the unit was an option and did so. I made it through the summer with no,issues and the unit still runs fine. When and if I need to replace this unit I will be spending my money with the company that treated me like they wanted to help me rather than make a sell.

Everything went well from there. They did a nice job installing everything .They came in sooner and finished quicker than we expected. They were very concerned with providing us with what we needed.

+ -1 moreTech #1 found problem (in wiring) and also pointed out some rust on the condenser panel, and claimed it would be best to replace the unit (coming up on 10 years old). Soon supervisor was called to verify refrigerant loss with his "calibrated sniffer". He verified the problem. Soon company rep #3 was present, and they huddled together to generate an estimate for system replacement, which I suggested they email to me. I never got the estimate, to my knowledge. Due to the cost of replacement, I had a total of five techs/companies look at the current system and give estimates. The most honest of the bunch, who has been doing HVAC work for 35+ years, looked the system over and said he didn't seen anything wrong with the present system--the minor rust was normal and not a cause for concern. He hooked everything back up, and charged me $39.95. It has been working fine ever since....

+ -1 moreTechnician was very courteous and professional and thorough. we walked through many items regarding the furnace and the condensing units. he took the time to explain what he was looking for and identified the problem i was having. However, he noted that there was no point to adding refrigerant to the unit since the efficiency is negatively impacted by having too much coolant. Not sure about that; regardless, i didn't observe him actually checking the current level. being winter, I didn't press the issue but the AngiesList deal that I bought included 1 lb of coolant which is why i ordered in first place. I intend to ask them to come back out in the spring and top that off. If they don't, I'll consider that the whole interaction was a fraud.

+ -1 moreThe service technician was pretty thorough in his inspection and worked on the tuning up the system and also changed out the filters. We got a fair report on the system except the fact that the system was drawing more power. One negative was that the technician tried to sell their annual maintenance and mentioned that system may be on the brink (issues with the capacitor) for selling the same. He also tried to mention the drawbacks of just having a home appliance warranty. I would have given all the best rating had this not happened as the rest of the service was done with honesty, integrity and in a professional manner.

+ -1 moreReceived the discounted offer from Angie via email. Stored it for awhile and used the service as the colder weather got closer. Called the service provider and they were able to come out the next day. Great service, nice repairman. Will do business with them again.
Description of Work: Serviceman inspected, cleaned and replaced all components to our heater and filters. He removed leaves and uncluttered the area around the heating unit. Cleaned up after all outside services were performed and then replace the inside air filter. Great job, cheap!

We had just bought our new home and I wanted to make sure the Heating and Air Conditioner were in good shape so I took advantage of the offer! I Purchased the deal and called the company to set an appointment. The individual on the phone was very nice and helpful in making the appointment to work around our schedules.The technician called to let us know aprox. when he would be at our home. Upon arrival he inquired about our system and we let him know we had just bought the home. I walked him down to the unit and he began giving me helpful information about filter change and duct work to be pro active in keeping the unit in good shape for many more years to come. The overall experience from this company and the technician were above and beyond for a first time customer. I highly recommend this company and I will be using them in the future for any repairs or services needed to keep my home under climate control. Thank you!

Description of Work: I was pleased with every aspect of my dealing with Freedom Heating, especially Justin Jordan, who came to check out my problem and get a quote for me. I was ready to get them to do the work but my son had a friend who wanted to give me a quote, so that is ultimately who I used. This had absolutely nothing to do with anything Justin and/or Freedom Heating did or could have done! I will surely let them do my maintenance as I have confidence in their ability and their integrity. I was very impressed with every aspect of my dealing with them.

+ -1 moreVery, very bad. Total Rip Off. This company would have to offer me a free furnace to set foot on my property again.
Description of Work: I had hired and paid this company though an Angie's list deal for 2 years to clean and inspect my HVAC system for 2 years. They came out in spring to "clean and inspect and top off the R22 coolant if needed " my HVAC, and told me my AC contactor and capacitor needed to be replaced (they were burning out and inefficiency) and also the furnace was cracked and needed to be replaced. I allowed them to replace the the AC contactor and capacitor, to the tune of $300 , but declined the furnace replacement. I did track my energy usage throughout the summer, and found that there was no difference between the amount of energy I used with my AC before and after the $300 parts replacement. The rest of the deal was that I would pay them a fee, and I would have priority for repairs. By the way, the conactor and capacitor cost about $30 together (Google it if you don't believe me). They came out this fall for the cleaning deal, and ended up sending 3 people to hard sell a new furnace AND air conditioner. They kept telling me there were large cracks in the furnace burn box, and it needed to be replaced immediately because the there were big holes and AC was leaking a lot coolant (there was no problem with it when I hired them originally to check and refill it). Again, I declined. When I went to start my furnace this fall it would not start. I could get the pilot to light, but the furnace would not turn on. I investigated, and found the thermostat wires to the furnace had been disconnected. Now I can tell you, only myself, and the technician from Freedom Heating and Cooling had access to my HVAC system, and I promise that I DID NOT CUT THE THERMOSTAT WIRES TO MY FURNACE. They apparently think that I am retarded, and can't find wires that have been disconnected, and think that I will call them for PRIORITY service for furnace repair and pay for it. I am here to tell you that Freedom Heating and Cooling purposefully cut the wires between my thermostat and furnace. The technician and manager may think that they were doing me a favor by making me call them for service and paying them $10,000 for a new furnace and AC, but I can see clearly what they did. This company will purposefully sabotage your HVAC system so they can make money. I have a MS in Engineering, and have tons of experience with electronics and mechanical systems, and I can tell you this company is not to be trusted. To the layperson, they put out a very trustworthy face. But to someone with the knowledge, skills, abilities, and tools to investigate their claims, the are full of it. Unfortunately for them, I am able to track down cut wires and figure out that something is wonky. They will charge you money for parts you do not need. I am fortunate that I was able to detect their duplicity before shelling out $10,000 to replace my whole system, and I implore you to find a different HVAC provider that is more reliable.

I felt much better about knowing the state of my 11 year old system after he came! I was very impressed with the professionalism of the technician and the company.
Description of Work: They came out and inspected my heating and air system, and did preventitive maintenance. I purchased a certificate from Groupon that was basically a two inspections/routine maintenance calls (winter and summer) for the price of one.

+ -1 moreI used a groupon for Freedom to come out to tune up and check out two Hvac Systems. After finding out they were in pretty bad shape I knew we had to replace them. I called another company (referral from my brother in law) to get an estimate. it was $17,000!!. I thought this was high. I called Freedom back to give me a quote. Ashley was very helpful in helping me understand what our options were. After conferring with the owner we were able to negotiate a price well below the other estimate. Our quote was around $14,000 and this was to include duct cleaning. They started the next day and found out all our ductwork upstairs needed to be replaced (it was too small to accommodate what we needed). About 70 percent of the downstairs needed to be replaced also. They completed all the work needed to make it right and did not ask for more money. The price quoted me was the price we paid even though there was extra work involved. Tracy and Jonothan worked very h****** the installation and were very courteous. They let me know what was going on. They also cleaned up totally after each days work. The installation took 3 full days. I thought this was great considering we pretty much had a total replacement of both systems. I am very happy with their work and will call them again.
