As stated above, once approval was given for the move, which was 2 full weeks away, I never heard from their office. So I called a few times to make sure all was arranged and find out what time they movers/packers would be here on moving/packing day. I was told 4 packers would arrive between 8:00-10:00 a.m. Friday, October 12th and 4 loaders/movers and 2 trucks were arrive Saturday morning same time. Strangely, the day before packing day no one had contacted us about disconnecting our appliances as promised. Strangely, when I inquired on that Thursday, the day before packing day, LaDonna King brushed past that issue and said the packers want permission to pack on Saturday and also load on Saturday. We have a 3300 sq foot home with a 3-car garage and a full basement. I said I didn't think that would be enough time! I started to make further calls to see why things are being arranged right. On Friday, supposedly packing day - no one showed up to pack and our appliances weren't disconnected. The Atlas corporate office sent a new person, Kelly, to straighten things out. The appliance guys said they got a call out of the blue to come that day to disconnect appliances -- another sign that nothing had been arranged on our move! Kelly got 2 guys on their way down from Michigan to show up at 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon to pack. They took a tour of our house, were very friendly, we started getting some hope. They said the office was in transition and it was kind of a mess and Kelly was there to straighten it out. After showing them what needed to be packed, the next thing we know they packed up all their boxes, jumped in the truck and drove away without a word! No one called us to say if they were coming back. No one would answer our calls! We began to panic. We called the Atlas corporate office, director of operations in Chicago who said the packers said they were abused!!! What?? The truth was once they saw how much needed to be packed they didn't want to do it. No one would return our calls. We even left a message for the President, CEO of Atlas who never returned our calls. It was Friday 10/12 and the closing was on Monday 10/15. We were left, abandoned with no movers! Why, because LaDonna King and her office neglected to arrange the move and here it was move time and no packers or movers were available. The house could not close on 10/15 if we were not out. We were physically ill and emotionally exhausted at the abuse we were getting from this company. This company I guess didn't need $15,000 and never showed up to move us, never contacted us to say why, or help us in any way. At 6:30 pm Friday night we left a panic message for Two Men and a Truck at 3400 Belle Chase Way and they returned our call within the hour, packed us up the next day, moved us on Sunday, and we were out in time for the close. What Atlas and DMS could not accomplish in 2 weeks, Two Men and a Truck did in 2 days. Call them if you ever need to move . NEVER EVER CALL ATLAS FROM ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY BECAUSE EVEN THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE COULD HAVE CARED LESS. NEVER CALL DMS MOVING SYSTEMS -- THEY ARE LIARS AND TOO LAZY TO PACK AND MOVE US -- TURNS OUT DIDN'T EVEN ARRANGE IT ALL ALONG! It took us 2 weeks to get over the physical and emotional turmoil they put us through. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! How would you like it if on moving day NO ONE SHOWED UP! Everyone's nightmare, right?
Description of Work: First, DMS Moving Systems is now on 900 Powder Plant Road and the phone number is 205-424-4506 - a division of ATLAS -- want to make sure the company is the right one, but how many DMS Moving Systems are there in Birmingham, so this is probably the same one. On September 25, 2012 Relocation Consultant Rudy Williams came to our house to take a full inventory of our household goods to provide an estimate to move us from Birmingham to Aiken, SC about Mid-October. On September 27th we received an estimate. On September 28th we received a new estimate because the first one apparently was wrong and "not enough," in the amount of about $15,596.94. The same day I received corporate approval for said amount and established with LaDonna King a packing day of Friday, October 12th and a load and moving day of Saturday, October 13th. After they had our business we essentially never heard from them again. See below for for services performed --because there were none because THEY WERE A NO SHOW ON MOVING DAY!!!
