+ -1 moreI've had Cooks Pest Control for over 5 years and have had great experience with them. I recently purchased a home in Birmingham and was able to transfer my service from my old home to the new. Since the newly purchased home was vacant for 2 years there were alot of spiders, ants, and roaches present. Cooks Pest Control had to make a few trips to get them all, but they have been very knowledgeable, professional, and easy to work with. I recommend their services to anyone.

+ -1 morePerson arrived on time. Did not look at the house. Did not inspect anything. Called his supervisor and was told to tell us that, because our house has Dryvit, they would not go any further until the Dryvit was modified to their requirements. This was to be a minimum of 6and quot; above grade. When asked about the appearance of said changes and saleability in the future, my wife was told to just paint the exposed areas. And then he left. VERY rude. VERY unprofessional. These changes would have a very large impact on the saleability of this home in the future. Curb appeal would not be pleasant. No business from us, Cooks!
Description of Work: Our current termite bond is being cancelled due to termite company's underwriting changes. We requested an inspection/estimate from Cook's. Did not go well.

+ -1 moreI paid for general pest control and for a fire ant yard treatment (small house, small yard). It took 4 months to stop the millipedes from invading our home from the yard outside, and after 8 months of treatments our yard is still completely infested with fire ants. The service man is very nice and professional, and we've been relatively free of most bugs and whatnot inside the house, but I feel that we are not really getting our money's worth for this year of service. We will not be using them after the year expires.

+ -1 moreI feel the price is reasonable for what we get. My only issue with the price is that the mosquito treatment seems a bit expensive because I don't know how effective it is. We have been with them for about 6 months, since we moved into our home. They are very professional and friendly. They call ahead and let us know when they are coming. If the weather is bad they will reschedule so the service won't wash away. We can call them anytime and they will come back out. Corey is the guy who comes to our home and he is just great. Very friendly and helpful.
Description of Work: They come every month for outdoor pest control around our foundation. We have termite abatement and they treat for ants, roaches, and mosquitos.

+ -1 moreI am relatively happy with them. I pay them monthly. They don't come in until I am bothered due to the ants. The experience has been great. If I do have a problem, they are very prompt in addressing it.

I haven't had any roach or other insect problems since they have started treating me. They should be here today. I would use them again in the future.

+ -1 moreThe whole process went very smoothly. The initial consultant showed up, evaluated my house, and then sat down and drew up a sketch of the property and a quote. All the Cook's employee's that have come out and I've spoken with are very passionate about their job. They know PLENTY about bugs and other pests! Service was performed quickly and on time. Will update if things change.
Description of Work: Had an initial consultation and signed up for Termite service and Pest Control service. Termite protection included 20 Sentricon termite posts installed (varies from house to house) and monthly pest control services were subscribed too. While not the cheapest, I feel their services are very much worth it.

+ -1 moreFollowing Mr. Nelson's visit, Mr. Rick Wilkins called me on Monday of the next week and set up an appointment to come out on October 10, 2011. In fact he showed up about 10 minutes early. Mr. Wilkins explained the procedure to and quot;bug proofand quot; my home, as well as, wrote a thorough note of the service on the Service Report/Invoice. I had already paid Mr. Nelson $105.00 for the initial service. Each following month would be $35.00 per visit which I think is reasonable. Description of Work: First, Mr. Greg Nelson, an Inspector for Cook's Pest Control visited my home. He was punctual, professional, and a very pleasant, likeable gentleman. Mr. Nelson explained to me his company's "Perimeter Protection System" in terms that I could easily understand. His knowledge was very thorough as he informed me of the several types of bugs and insects Cook's service contract covers "WITHIN A TEN (10') FOOT COVERAGE AREA". I was not even aware of how many types of insects exists! Due to Mr. Nelson's representation of Cook's Pest Control, I acknowledged that they are a trustworthy company, especially since they offer a 110% Satisfaction Guarantee. I was informed that Mr. Rick Wilkins would be contacting within a few days to make an appointment to service my home, which he did the following Monday.

+ -1 more3 years ago when I moved into my home I discovered a problem with carpenter ants. Cook's immediately sent someone out to diagnose even before I was a contracted customer. We immediately signed a contract with them for general pest and termite control, and have been happy with their service ever since. They call the night before they come to give you a heads up, they ALWAYS were protection over their shoes to protect your home's floor and carpet, and we've never encountered anyone that wasn't polite and professional.

+ -1 moreNot a good experience, I do not like to be pressure sold.
Description of Work: I am sure that the company is a good one because they are so well rated on Angie's List. However my experience was poor. The sales lady was a very hard seller trying to get me to buy services that I did not want and throwing figures around concerning termites to try to panic me into buying immediately. She did not take the time to find out anything about the home or the needs we had and instead drove hard for a large package that she was sure we "Had To Have" right away. When I told her that I did not want a termite bait system but a barrier she brushed it off and told me that this was not possible; only one way was available in AL and that they sold it. I am a professional Buyer and know when I am being pushed by a hard sell situation. I recommend getting them to slow down and make sure, ahead of time, that you know what you want and that you check with other providers before you use Cook's Pest Control.
