 + -1 moreBottom line ... unless you actually know the person selling you a house, s/he is not your friend, s/he is selling you a house. Always keep that in mind. S/he is not really looking out for your best interest, s/he has no dog in the race, s/he is is just working for a commission. I'm not saying that is right or wrong, just ... it is what it is. Action Real Estate is just another business. They will find you a house, but protect yourself. As careful as I was trying to be, it wore me down and ... got me. But they got paid.
Description of Work: Sherri was a sales person. Her job is to get me into a house and collect her commission. I get that. She was energetic and eager to get me into a house with claims of being my friend and all the encouragement - great sales technique), then vanished immediately after the sale. Surprise! Also, me being new to the area, I asked and she gave ... oh ... 5-6 references for various other services (her opinion, I grant you) but none panned out as worth while (should have joined ANGIE'S long ago!!). AND ... as a traveling, out of state buyer moving to the area, it was a tiresome process which she SAID she would do everything to make good and 'in my best interest" ... turns out she bailed and this is going to cost me. I used her choice for a home inspector - bad idea, NOW I know - he missed pretty much everything in his cursory once-over. MAGIC CITY HOME INSPECTIONS - AVOID THEM, guy's name was Bill, a Certified Master Inspector - a WHAT? a CMI - HORRIBLE waste of money. There are MAJOR issues with this house that the inspector SHOULD have emphasized. I realize it was my decision and I realize the responsibility is mine, but ..... what is an inspection for?? What is a realtor for if not to be the professional/expert in helping the client make a good/smart choice. Bottom line, the Sherri and Bill did me no favors. :(
