I had an excellent experience with this company. King Roofing replaced the roof on my home. I am very happy I chose this business. I called Mr. King a few years earlier for an estimate about a leak I had. It turned out to be pine straw and leaves built up in the valley of my roof causing water to back up. Other roofers insisted I needed a new roof. Mr. King was honest and told me there was no reason for me to pay for a roof replacement. He cleaned out the debris at no charge. It stopped my leak immediately. He refused payment and told me to just clean it out every fall when I had my gutters cleaned and it to call him if I ever had any actual roof issues. We recently had shingles that started to fall out of place and King Roofing was the first one I called. I knew he was honest and I remembered what he did for us. This time he told me I had hail damage and took pictures of my roof. He also met my adjuster to help me with my claim. They kept my yard clean, his crew was very polite, and the job was done quickly. Most importantly, my roof looks great. I am very satisfied. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs a roofing contractor.

After completing the work, we gave him a check for the full amount of his estimate. After receiving our check, King made the comment that he wasn't sure if he had figured the number of shingles needed for the repair correctly or not. I asked him if we owed him more money and he stated he needed to contact our insurance company to see how much they had paid us for the work. I didn't understand why he needed to contact the insurance company about how much they had paid us, because that had nothing to do with how much we owed him. If they had paid us less, we would still have to pay him the amount of the estimate. When he learned our insurance had allowed us more for the repairs, he reappeared with another bill for an additional $1080.00. It was clear that he under-bid the estimate in order to get the contract and had every intention of coming back with an addiltional bill once the work was done. The contract had fine print that stated we would have to pay for any additional shingles needed for the work. We expected it might be a few more shingles at the most, with maybe a couple hundred dollars if he had miscalculated. His final price ended up being nearly 20 percent more, because of his miscalculations. He advertises as being an experienced roofer. I would think someone with so much experience could provide a more accurate roofing estimate. I would not use him again or recommend him to anyone.

Mr King did find termites where the roof was leaking and he did repair it, however a couple of months after the repair, the leak reappeared. Mr. King came out and said the problem was debris under the tiles. He stapled the tiles down and swept off the roof.. In 2011 with continued problems with leak around the fireplace I got a contractor to lift the roof to keep help with drainage around the chimney. In 2012 I had another leak in a totally different place which was over the front porch. I called Mr. King and he said he would call his insurance. Then no response. I called him after a couple of weeks and he said that his ins would not cover it because I had work done on the roof. I had to get that contractor to state that he did not damage the roof even though where is was leaking was in a total different area. Finally after many back and forth he said I needed to replace the roof and the problem was the way the porch was built. needless to say I called another roofer

Mr. King put the roof on the house I bought last year. It has the expensive 30-year architectural tiles, and is still under warranty. When the home inspector submitted his report, he noted a problem with the installation of the roof, which was to be fixed before closing. Mr. King claims that he made the repair. The first good rain after moving in, I noticed a leak and called Mr. King - he never called back. After 4 or 5 weeks, I called him back - he said he lost my number, but had looked at the house and said the roof had hail damage not covered under warranty. He said I'd need a new roof and should contact the insurance company. The insurance adjuster said he saw no hail or wind damage. Two other roofers who did estimates said that they saw no sign of hail or wind damage. One did say that the warranty on the tiles had been voided when the tiles were placed because they were not staggered as the manufacturer installation instructions specify. Another said he wouldn't say anything specific about another roofer's work, only that he saw no damage and that any problems encountered within the first 8 years and unrelated to damage are usually the fault of the roofer and should be covered under the roofer's warranty. Another roofer said that he had done an estimate on the roof a few years before because the previous owner of the house had been having trouble with the roof and the original roofer. Do not use this roofer. He does not stand behind the work or honor the warranty. For argument's sake, I got him to do an estimate - it was more than twice what was shown on the receipt from 2007 and higher than everyone else who did an estimate. He didn't even feel guilty enough to offer a discount!
