The Neighborhood Plumber

Good customer service from the Neighborhood Plumber home office; friendly and warm. They provided a quote over the phone that was roughly mid-way between the other two quotes I received. I chose them because they are local to Alabaster/Pelham and I prefer to support local, family owned businesses when I can and for their quick scheduling. I called right when they opened for business and was able to get scheduled for service. The two-man team arrived within the 1.5 hrs time window they provided, sized up the job quickly and went to work. One started removing the old water heater while the other one got busy prepping the new water heater for install. The senior of the two was knowledgeable and approachable. No smoking or dipping during the job; clean pipe fitting joints; not messy during install; tidy clean up. The job was completed quicker than I expected. As of this review, we are four days past the install and there have been no problems. I would consider them for future work.

I've been using the owner, Steve, for 30 years, ever since we moved to this area.

They said they would be here between 3 and 5, but they got to the house at 2:30. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was very pleased.

They did a good job. I've been doing a couple of things. The gas line for the grill was around $80 or $90 and I think the water line for the refrigerator was around $200. My experiences with them are good. They showed up on time. Their work was very good. I have no problems with the quality of their work.

Very professional. Even let us know of a rebate available through the gas utility company that saved us $400.

We got a recommendation from a local plumbing supply house after I caused a major leak in our shower trying to replace the seals and springs in the valve myself. The man from Neighborhood Plumber arrived promptly and on time. The broken valve was in a very close space inside a wall so it was a difficult job. He replaced it without causing any damage and cleaned up thoroughly. It has not leaked since. While he was here we asked him to replace the seals and springs in our third shower.

The service man was on time, friendly, courteous and very competent. He did the work in a timely manner and cleaned up any mess before he left.

All calls to office were answered or returned promptly, amount charged was exactly amount of estimate, service person arrived right on time and actually finished 30 minutes earlier than I anticipated they would. Very helpful and hung the dishwasher high loop without charge. Competent, efficient, professional. I am quite pleased and will definitely use them again and would definitely recommend them.

Appointment was easy to set for next-day service. Arrived in middle of stated window, called ahead. Was prompt with fixing the problem and open to discussion. Overall good service.

I have used them before and my experience with them was excellent. I trust them so much that I left my back door open so they could come in and fix my faucet while I was at work on a Friday. He called me several times on the phone to let me know what he was doing and why he was doing it to make sure if it was acceptable to me. Then he called me when he was finished and I asked him if he wants my debit card number. He said me to call the office on Monday and give it to them. They are just an honest local company that you can trust to come into your house whenever you're not here and they trust you enough to tell you just to call back on Monday to give your debit card number so you can pay at that time.

They were very good. We just had no problem at all. All of their plumbers are master plumbers and they don't use a lot of apprentices.

These are honest guys who do a decent job. They came out originally on a late night when sewage backed up through the house drains. When it turned out to be a recurring problem, they didn't charge me for the second visit to unclog the same spot through the cleanout. I scheduled a final visit to dig up and send a snake with camera down the pipe to check for problems. Once they dug up the dirt around the pipe, it was quickly discovered that a backflow preventer valve was constantly clogging. They removed the valve from the sewer line, replaced it with straight pipe, and didn't waste any time with the snake. They could have tried to charge me for using the snake, anyway, but they didn't and saved me money in the process. I'd definitely recommend them for anyone in the area.

They were very professional and actually showed me how I could fix the problem myself next time. The price was very reasonable for the parts and labor.

We had them come out within the last 6 months for a leak in our garage. We have used them in the past and will continue to use them as needed. They did good work and haven't had any more problems with what they fixed. I would give them an A rating.

The plumber came out and replaced the valve within 30 minutes and the problem was fixed. However, I had called on a Saturday and so expected to be charged weekend prices. The person I spoke with on the phone did not tell me what those costs were. When the plumber was done as quickly as he was, I mentioned I had other work that could be done, but he remarked that it would be at the weekend rates, so I decided against it. I was shocked when I got the bill. I had been charged for an hours worth of work at $189 an hour. Had I known at the time that I was being charged for an hour I would have insisted that the plumber stay and do some of the other work that needed to be done. When I called later and spoke with the owner of the company he told me that they charge a minimum of an hour on top of the weekend rates. At no time was I told that they had an hour minimum. Again, I was expecting the higher weekend rate but not the hour minimum. In addition, I had more work that could have been done in that hour's time as the original problem was fixed within 30 minutes. It is incumbent upon the company to make their costs and fees known upfront, before they perform the work. They did nothing to help settle this issue when I called on several occasions. I feel I was over charged by $90 and didn't get an hour's worth of work from them.

They did a good job. Their price was high. I would use them again in the future.

Person performing the work was very knowledgeable, punctual, courteous, and finished the work in a timely fashion. He did not have any problems with answering questions and had no problem explaining what he was doing. I will definitely call this company again. I think it might have been a little pricey but you get what you pay for and I haven't had any problems since the repair.

We had a water stain on our ceiling below our master bath. We called Neighborhood Plumber and Kevin came out three hours later. I was worried that we he was going to have to cut the ceiling to diagnose the problem, but he went up to the upstairs bath and was able to determine that a faucet was leaking. He repaired that faucet and I had him work on the two other faucets upstairs to make sure we didn't have any further leaks. I was pleased with the response and professionalism of Kevin and would recommend Neighborhood Plumber.

They are willing to look at the situation and work things out. They give you the best price that they can. They do an excellent job. They are always very friendly and willing to listen to you. They ask you questions and they encourage you to ask them questions. They are good.

The Neighborhood Plumber did an excellent job and their price was better than three other estimates. I'm going to have them come back and fix a water leak under my driveway in a couple of weeks.

They investigated our problem and gave us a good estimate. They came when they said they would and they did a great job. I know they will back up their work if we experience any problems. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

This company was top notch -- a special company indeed in their quality of customer service, time scheduling and professionalism of the staff. Sometimes you feel like a hostage to contractors that you must call to do a job that you just can't do yourself, but they may be late, unreliable in their work, leave a mess behind for you to clean up, etc. BUT NOT THE NEIGHBORHOOD PLUMBER, INC. They discussed my problem with me on my first phone call, they sent someone out within about 4 hours even when I said they could wait until the next day because they were going to have to be working in my attic and it was already hot and uncomfortable there. The workman checked the problem, assured me I was right that it would be fine overnight, but told me what to do in case something DID go wrong (which it didn't). He arrived on time next day, pleasantly worked to upgrade my tank and finished quickly. Polite, knowledgeable, clean, efficient, reasonably priced - how often do you get to say that? GREAT!

I was very impressed with the plumber from Neighborhood Plumber. He knew right away what the problem was and how to resolve it. In less than an hour he had the bathroom toilet and the downstairs sink working perfectly. The prices at Neighborhood Plumber are also very fair and competitive. I will continue to use Neighborhood Plumber in the future.
