Ultra Nice Painting

We had 3 estimates from reputable painting companies. Ultra Nice Painting was the lowest bidder and available before the other companies. Once we realized the savings, we added to the job and we were still below the next lowest bid. It was almost to good to be true; but, talking and working with Kevin, I knew we had a solid company. When they were done...WOW! I wanted to move back in myself! We were doing some other things around the house to get it ready for the market once again. Kevin and the crew were very easy to work with: Professional - Trustworthy - Good Communication - Flexible - Courteous. Ultra Nice Painting is TOP SHELF! We highly recommend them and would definitely hire them in the future.

Kevin did a great job! He answered my questions scheduled me quickly and arrived right on time with his crew. All the work was done very professionally over three days, very pleased with the job he even did a great job, in the end, cleaning up afterwards. Highly recommended!

It went very well. Kevin provided us with the project cost immediately after visiting the work site to see what we wanted done. We needed to postpone the start date by a week due to scheduling conflicts and this was happily accommodated by the contractor. Very punctual. Kevin and Monty showed up right at 7:30 AM on the three days they needed to complete the job. The wall over the fireplace is poor quality cedar paneling that required two primer coats and a lot of caulking before the paint could be applied. Even though the extra coat of primer and caulking required additional materials and labor, the work was performed at no additional charge. Drywall texturing along the hallway in a high traffic area near the kitchen that showed a lot of wear was also performed. We are very happy with the results and can recommend Ultra Nice Painting without reservation. We plan to use again in the future.

kevin promptly returned all calls and showed up to work when he said he would. he gave me a quote (not an estimate) of the cost on the day he came to look at the project. he said he would start the job the following week. a couple of days later i called him for a price to add a second bedroom to the job. he told me the cost, and it was not a problem for him to do this additional work. this was a 3 day project. on the second day, i asked him if he could add 2 exterior doors to the list. this was not a problem. he repaired a hole in the sheet rock that we talked about when he came to do the quote. but, he also repaired hole in the second bedroom that i had not mentioned. there were other flaws in the walls that he repaired without me specifically asking. the walls in my house are "textured", it was built in 1978. there were several areas that needed to be re-textured. he had the proper equipment to do this and it matches the surrounding areas perfectly. kevin and his crew are professional, hard working, timely, honest, skilled and pleasant to be around. i would recommend them to anyone, and would certainly hire them again.

I had scraped the popcorn off the ceiling and it was in need of repair. I contacted Ultra Nice Painting to come and take a look. Kevin Nice was very prompt in responding to my request for a quote and we immediately set up a meeting at my house the next day. I explained to him what I wanted and he gave a few suggestions. An agreement was made & time schedule for him to come over and skim coat the ceiling. On the appointed day, he showed up on time. I needed help removing the ceiling fan which him & his partner took care of with no problems. However, he did not bring any lights so I scrambled around the house trying to find lights that would work for him. Once that was taken care of he had the ceiling done in no time. I had a few holes that needed patched & the light fixture hole was bigger than the light so he fixed that too. Due to scheduling conflicts and other appointments, after skim coating the ceiling he was scheduled to come back out 2 weeks later. This time, he came with lights and proceeded to sand the ceiling, patch a few areas, and paint the final color on the ceiling. It turned out fantastic and he even reinstalled the ceiling fan!! There were only a few issues that came up. 1. He didn't bring lights the first day out. 2. On skim coat day, I said I had drop cloths already down & I told him he could just leave them there. However, on sanding day I did not realize the amount of dust that would be left on the drop cloths so I was left with quite a mess to clean up. I feel he should have mentioned this and suggested to pull up the cloths and use his own plastic sheets. But lesson learned, I'll remember this for the other ceilings that need skim coated.

Arrived on time as promised and finished within the time frame provided. Excellent work.

Kevin & crew left the house mess free. Kevin has a great personality, friendly and down to earth. He doesn't beat around the bush and was very honest. That helped with our decision to rehire for a larger job, thanks Kevin & crew!

The job went very well. I'll admit there were a few issues to deal with, but Kevin and crew got after it with a positive attitude. Would defiantly use them again and will recommend to others.

The living space is as big as two rooms and we wanted it painted brown with red trim. All of the painters were friendly and they wanted to be sure we had everything perfectly done. They actually cleaned after they finished each area and vaccummed.

Kevin came out, inspected the work to be done (a small bathroom and only the bottom half of 2walls plus one piece of drywall to repair a small portion of closet) and said he'd have a quote for me in a day or so. After 5+ days I called him since he hadn't called me. Over the phone he gave me an offhand quote over $2,000. I then sent him an email and asked for a written estimate and he provided one. $2,300 -- 2 men, 3-1/2 days. It was twice as high as the next highest bid ($1,200). He seemed to be knowledgeable and I would have liked to have him do the work but not at that price!! I had another contractor do the work, it took him 4 hours to hang the drywall and tape and mud everything, and then came back a week later to do the sanding and texturing. One person, 8 hours. Total cost including materials and framing one wall was $700. I have all the written bids and it was such a big difference for the very same work. I've learned a lot from this experience! It's the first time I've used Angie's List and it came in handy to go through the process.

They showed up exactly on time and made sure that they cleaned up behind themselves which most contractors don't do. I highly recommend Kevin and his crew to anyone that wants the job done right the first time!

About the second week of July 2014 I contacted the owner (Kevin) of Ultra Nice Painting and left a message. The owner called me back the next day and we made an appointment on July 23rd for him to come to my home and provide an estimate. The owner was on-time, but as we walked around my home, I noted that he did not take down any information on the notebook he was carrying. We discussed painting 1 bedroom, 1 living room, I hallway, 1 bathroom, 1 stairwell up to the second floor and possibly the kitchen, which had already been painted aside from the ceiling. Seeing that this was my first painting contractor, I mentioned that I was sure that I would have further questions. He also gave me a verbal estimate of $1500 inclusive of moving furniture. I asked whether that included the coupon which he was advertising and appeared taken back by my asking this. If you don't ask...you don't know! I asked for his opinion on a few issues and he answered my questions at the time. As he walked to his vehicle, I requested a written estimate which he could email to me. He agreed. On August 6th, I had not heard anything from the owner of Ultra Nice Painting, so I emailed him. I received a READ receipt that same day from him opening my email. Again, since this was my first painting job, in the email I requested further information such as: What would be the cost difference if you also painted the trim? What is considered to be ?trim?? If this includes doors, is that a different type of paint as in oil based due to the finish? What type of paint were you going to use and would the ceiling paint be a different type from the wall paint? How many coats would you be applying? Is the paint washable? Do you warranty your work? I am not sure if you also took into consideration the kitchen wall paint since it appears that the stud markings have moved down into the top of the wall area. I didn't think that any of this was over the top, so again I waited...and waited...and waited. If he wasn't interested in providing an estimate that was fine, but as a SMALL business owner myself, the ONE thing that I hold sacred is PROVIDING THE CUSTOMER PROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE! As of this posting, Kevin has still not bothered to contact me, hence the posting here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 08-16-2014 OWNER RESPONSE: (VIA EMAIL) Paint estimate After more consideration I realized my price was to low . It would take $1800. In labor and around $500. in materials. So $2300.00 to two coat your project. There is not much to warranty paint sticks. I would be first coatings with kilz 2 water boarn latex. Then would top coat with Rodda paints master painter. This is also a latex product. I could paint trim but to repaint trim I would have to sand all trim, prime with a good primer then finish with top quality latex enamel. The cost would be around $1500.00 for labor and $300.00 for materials. Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. After leaving your home my taste buds tasted like nicotine I would not have replied back to you but I can't have negative statements on Angies List. You seemed like a nice person and I didn't want to seem to good to do the work. NOW YOU HAVE CHANGED YOUR ESTIMATE TO $2300 FOR WALLS AND CEILING ONLY! Then as an added "bonus" you want to charge me an additional $1800 to do the trim? TOTAL cost for painting the first floor of a small starter home = $4100!!! Adding all these additional items and costs reflects only on your inability to provide a home-owner a fair and current cost. You knew that I smoked when you were here, as well as my stating "Obviously I smoke", so your initial estimate should have included taking everything into consideration. I asked you when you were here whether it would take one or two coats... you did not respond. I asked you about the kitchen... you said nothing. I asked you about the trim... you said nothing. From your comments here, I can only conclude that the only reason you are NOW responding is due to my post on Angie's List. I had not planned on posting anything, but you gave me no recourse. You have acted irresponsibly and unprofessionally to my requests. And by the way... YOU also were NOT running for the door gasping for air either! Nice try though! I have no further use for you or your unprofessional behavior. Maybe you can locate potential customers with blinders on who don't ask valid questions, but you will NOT try to sucker me into your "costs". When you give someone an estimate, it sure doesn't triple on paper! BUYER BEWARE OF THIS ONE!

Everything went extremely well. Kevin and his employees showed up and were very professional. They patched the hole the first day and made an appointment to come back and paint once it was dry. I found Kevin very easy to work with. They matched the paint exactly and left no extraneous mess. Highly recommended!

Kevin was prompt and professional, respectful of the house and didn't leave behind a mess. Extremely fair pricing and kept to timeline I requested.

He showed up. He negotiated the price with me when I had a bid that was cheaper. The quality of the work, they didn't cut in very well. Later when I was putting blinds in I noticed they did a really bad job around the window. The also splattered paint on my air loom quilt. They should have been more careful with the paint and cutting in. He showed up on time. The clean up wasn't real great, pretty half hazard. He left a paint brush on a rag on the counter top. I had to clean up a little bit.
