Knik Landscaping

Called several companies for quotes as I needed a new septic tank, this company being one of them. Was the month of March. This guy said everything he could to convince me not to put the tank in during the winter. "Oh the snow, oh the snow, oh the snow". Clearly they did not want the winter work which is fine. Just say so and spare me all the "oh the snow" gibberish. Another contractor jumped on it and all went well, done and gone in 8 hours.... Give these people one star as at least they called back.

Faster than expected, but the mess they made of my yard staggered me a bit. Would have really appreciated being consulted about location of inspection tubes, as one of them got located right in the middle of the access road to the back of my property. Also the tubes were installed cockeyed so they are ugly to look at. It would have been small thing to stand them up straight, and there was no rush to finish. I was told I could install special flush mounting paving caps for the tubes at almost $100 each if I didn't want to look at the crooked pipes. Not really what I wanted to hear after spending that kind of money.

It went well. Punctual. Professional. When asked questions, crew knew the answers. I did not use them for landscaping after so I knew there would be some cleaning up after ground dried up. I would use them again.

Not good. Last August 2013, I hired Jake of Knik Landscaping to improve my driveway. Once finished with delivering and leveling driveway he was paid in full. Come Spring thaw, all water drained in to the side of my garage and pooled there, which in time would eventually destroy the garage floor. I called Jake in March 2014, he came over, took a look and said ," no problem" once the ground thaws he will send a laborer over with a shovel and a level to fix the problem. He never got back to me. I called him again a month or so later, he then told me that this correction of the water flow would only take them a half hour to correct. THEN, I had to call him again , he came over a few days ago with his laborer. His laborer saw the problem right away. Jake then told me that he could bring in a small bull dozer and lower the ground on the side of my garage so that the water would pool in my backyard. Jake would just be moving the water problem from the side of my house to the back and tearing up a portion of my yard.. I have owned my home since 1997 and @ all times the water had drained downhill to the road. While he was prepping my drive in 2013, he told me that the water would would still drain to the road. Which it has not. He told me today that I have an attitude problem with him now, which I am sure anyone would if they were put through the same predicament. On the 11th, he stormed off to his truck and said he would return my money. Which he has not and which he denies he ever said that. I have had to chase him down 3 times this year. Jake had overestimated the amount of fill and gravel to complete my driveway. The sloping is wrong, it does not drain correctly and he says I am nit picking. This is my house and I feel I should be satisfied with the outcome, not him. I would never recommend him to anyone nor ever use him again. I am out money and time. I am not sure how to get this problem corrected. He made a mistake on this job, and refuses to fix it in a timely manner, if he ever will. Thank you for your time. He was also making fun of me and my yard. Strange he would do that.

It went very well. Driver was personable, and put the dirt where we wanted it dumped. Would use this service again.

Septic system working great, no issues other than cost and landscaping issue. Also needed to have property surveyed for new system to be located to code another $1,000 cost.

Very nice folks to deal with, Jake is a pro on the dozer and saved hours of work by doing such a good job. They came in in the morning and were done by early afternoon. This was just over 13,000 sq feet of lawn done. Very nice job for a fair price.

The job went great. The work performed exceeded our expectations. Jake is very punctual and professional and was always there with all the right equipment. He had great ideas for us too! I call Jake my go-to guy now for work, or just for advise.
