Frontier Woodworks was referred to me by a friend (they had kitchen cabinets and custom trim work done), as well as another contractor I trusted. I needed 1500 sf of wood flooring installed (Karhs engineered floating floor can be sanded and refinished twice) in my 1961 pre-quake house with uneven floors. My house is also an open floor plan that wraps around a fireplace stack in the center, with adjoining rooms and long runs of hallway etc. We daringly hoped for seamless wood flooring throughout and did not want to take chances with a random installer selected by the product provider. I interviewed 3 flooring installers and Jeff was the clear choice. He and his crew were prompt, professional, courteous, straight-shooters, and by reputation skilled. Jeff also, incidentally, builds quality custom furniture. Jeff and his crew prepped my grossly uneven floors, undercut the stone facade of my fireplace, and beautifully installed the Kahrs flooring with care. They were quiet, clean and methodical. They encountered several glitches, which they worked through professionally, and they made mistakes, which they took great care to make right. After the install Jeff and I reviewed 3 trouble spots, which they had diligently worked to make as right as possible. I understood that my subfloor was flawed beyond repair from the earthquake and I was prepared to accept the best install possible with some flaws. So we shook hands over the flaws and I was happy with the work. 2 months later one of the trouble spots started to worsen. I called Jeff to inquire about touching up the flaw and he promptly came out to inspect. He worked us into his schedule and showed up with his crew to repair the problem. Jeff went above and beyond. We couldn't be happier with his work, and these days it is hard to find the level of integrity he showed. Regarding price, I am giving Jeff an A even though he is not the cheapest. Nor is he the most expensive. His pricing is fair and transparent. With Jeff you are hiring a skilled, conscientious crew with integrity that backs up their work. Fair pricing and superb value.
