He is excellent. He is a one man show and he does a great job. There are sometimes that I call him and he comes out that same day. He charged me for the fan and the service charge. He used a refurbished fan. He tries to save me money when he can. It was a lot better than the one I had. He is absolutely excellent. I think the price is reasonable. I think that $75 is a reasonable amount to come out and check things out. I will continue to use him. He comes out once a year to service my whole house system. He changes my big air filter that I have in the attic. He can clean the filter. He is very good about that and does not charge me for things that I don't need. He is a very good guy. I have recommended him to several people.

Justin figured out there was an "airlock" in one of the lines, flushed it, and now we have toasty floors upstairs.

I first contacted Cowles Heating on the 2nd of September to come in and look at the boiler and set up a service date. When I asked about the price of the installation I was given a ball park $10,000. I was fine with this price because it would have paid off in just a few years of the cost of savings versus heating oil. John gave me the information for the finance company and I called the finance company and was approved for the $10,000 on the 3rd of September. This was before an offical installation estimate was given or before he ever saw my house or my needs specific to my installation. On the 4th I contacted John and he stated he had not received the paperwork for the finance company and after talking with the company, they assured me they sent the information and would resend it to him. On the 5th I contacted John again, he stated he had the paperwork and set upan installation date of the 17th. My first mistake was not having a date for them to come out and look at the installation site prior to the 17th. On the 16th I had not heard from them so I contacted John to ask if everything was still good to go, he stated they had not done the preview and would have to do that to submit the final paperwork to the finance company. He stated it should not affect anything and at the latest the boiler would be installed by Friday the 20th. I would have been fine with this since I again, failed to make sure they came out and previewed it. On the 17th the installer came out and took pictures and stated there is no way $10,000 would cover the installation price because the system by itself was $9,000. He gave me a rough quote of $12,000 and said the paperwork would be done and submitted to the company within the next day. I contacted John again on the 18th, 19th and 20th to check on the status of the paperwork and each time I was told it was not completed yet. When I contacted John on the morning of the 20th I stated I wanted the paperwork to be completed by the end of the day or I would find someone else for my heating needs since I had already waited 15 days and three days over my inital installation date. When John heard me say this he simply replied with, "I am trying my best," and proceeded to hang up on me. I feel I had been exceptionally patient with this company and took responsibility and understanding for some of the delay. It should not have happened because this is suppose to be a well established company in the community, not a start up. I do not like that my initial price quote was off by $2,000 or more, and I still am not sure if I would have been approved for the higher amount so my time might have been completely wasted. John had no idea on the price of any of his components. Finally the complete lack of service or follow up, is this the kind of service I could expect from them when I needed them in an emergency at -50? Hopefully my experience was isolated, however I will not recommend them to anyone I know.

Late evening of the eve before Christmas Eve our furnace quit unexpectedly. No only was the timing poor, but the temperature was about -40! We called and the fellow responded promptly, with all the tools and parts needed to have the furnace running again in under an hour. He really listens as you describe the problem, and is an excellent diagnostician.

I called Cowles after I got home from work and noticed a puddle under the pipes from our heating system. The technician that answered was at another work site and let me know that he would be able to stop by after he was done, and gave an approximate time of about an hour he also let me know ahead of time that it was after hours and that it would be a little more if I wanted him to come out that night or wait until Monday morning. I had opted for the immediate option since we would have been without heat in the house if the system was out of water to circulate through. He showed up sooner than he had said looked at the system and noticed that the return line had not been welded all the way around. Long story short he showed up charged us for an hour and fixed our problem with out spending one second longer than he needed to and met my expectations for quality of service. I will definitely call Cowels again when I need work done to my Heating system.

My previous owner had used them. They are punctual, available, and professional. I like their price.

They were good.

They came down right away and got the job done. The guy who came looked friendly. He looked at it and knew exactly what was wrong with it. He had the part with him to repair it. The guy was very nice. He was here for about an hour. He was very fast at what he did. I have not had a problem since then. HE checked it out and suggested to get someone to come and service it before the next winter. I will definitely use them in the future.
