I called and they said my dishwasher was too new of a model for them to work on it. I thought this was rather odd but at least they were up-front about their capabilities before having me spend money on their services.
Description of Work: I needed my Bosch dishwasher fixed.

Description of Work: Cost was too high. They wanted too much to take a look at our dryer. We are still looking for someone else to work on it.

The oven door on a Jenn-air range would not close all the way. Appliance Service Co. Technician said needed new hinges. Hinges ordered and installed. This did not fix problem. Then, the technician said oven door needed new gasget. This was ordered and installed. Problem still not fixed. Then, we were told the oven door needed new receptacles . These were ordered and installed, and the door was even further ajar than before calling APC In the first place. A mechanic friend then took the door apart and discovered that the receptacles were bent. He straitened them, and the door is perfect. I have requested a full refund from Appliance Service Co. In letters dated July 28,2014 and August 12, 2014, and have received no response.
Description of Work: Left the problem worse than when they started.

Response from APPLIANCE SERVICE CO
1st of all the customer made the original diagnosis she needed hinges she requested on 3/24/14for us to order the hinges we didn't look at range prior. We went out on 4/8/14 to replace hinges she requested. Then on 4/28 we received a call door not shutting properly we ordered a new set of hinges did a part warr. Installed and called technical they stated to also replace receptacles which we did on 5/27/14 then on 7/24/14 got a call that worse then before then a nasty letter stating she doesn't want us back: Will split cost of gasket & receptacles and eat labor she owes trip - hinges in full: A check for 138.62 sent to customer 8/25/14 with copy of this letter.

The parts man was very helpful - determining which part I needed can be tedious, as the schematic can be difficult to decipher. He was patient, thorough and made sure that we had determined exactly which parts I needed/wanted. It took about 20 minutes total, as there were similar parts on the schematic - I appreciate his thoroughness, as I would rather take a little time on the front end than receive the wrong part, shipping, returns, etc. They called me when my parts were in; when I arrived to pick them up, they knew right where they were :) It is a pleasure ordering parts from Appliance Service Co/Arrow Appliance! I also use this company for appliance repair: Todd is our favorite appliance tech! And he is knowledgeable, efficient, quick (in a good way), happy to answer questions and give helpful advice Todd is our "Go-To" guy for appliance repairs!
Description of Work: I ordered parts for my Whirlpool refrigerator over the phone.

Description of Work: My 5 year old frig stopped working except for the freezer. I called them on Monday morning and at the time the person I spoke to said the repair person may not be able to be out that day because of earlier calls but would be able to be out by Tuesday. If he would be able to get out that afternoon, he would call me. If not, I should call at 0900 the next morning to find out what time he would be out. When I asked about the cost of a visit and diagnosis, he was able to tell me $100 which given the age of my frig and cost of a new one seemed worth it. | |Happy to report that Todd called me that afternoon and he came out shortly after. He was courteous and friendly and took off his shoes as soon as he entered the house. It took him about 15-20 minutes to figure out the cause of the problem and temporarily get the frig operating again. He didn't have the part with him to fix it long-term and he had to go back to the shop to figure out total cost and get the part or backorder it. He said he would call back before the end of the day. He did and the part was in stock and he gave a quote of $340. He said just call back in the morning if I wanted it fixed. | |So the next morning I tried to call again and again without being able to get through. No luck. I finally gave up and sent an email. No response. I called back the next morning and got through. The person I spoke to said the phone was down yesterday not only for them but several other businesses. Then she said she would pass on the message that I wanted the frig fixed to Todd and he would be able to call me back and tell me when he could come out. A little later when I wasn't in the house he called and left a message asking if I wanted the frig fixed. So I guess there was a miscommunication between the person I spoke to earlier and Todd. | |Anyway, I called back and got a different person. This person took my message that yes I wanted my frig fixed and I would be available for Todd to come it the next day. He responded that I should call back at 0900 the next morning to find out when he would come out. So I did and found out I was the first one on his list of service calls that day. He came out at approximately the time the person said he would and replaced the part which took about 10 minutes at the most. | |Overall, I was pleased with the service but the back and forth and the fact that I had to call each morning to figure out when he would be out and the miscommunication between the service person and the people I spoke to on Wednesday was annoying and delayed completion of the service. I would use this company again but do believe the company's communication system and process could use an overhaul.

The technition knew his product well. The cost of the diagnostic was applied to the overall bill when the work was completed. He was accurate, professional and really knowledgeable. These are traits lacking in many Fairbanks businesses. I would use them again.
Description of Work: They worked on my Sub-zero side by side refrigerator freezer.

Why would you charge a diagnostic fee if the customer is willing to give you the appliance for parts if the repair is not economical?

Technician thought it was due to occasional hard water from water utility. Said to wait and watch (with door closed to avoid spill), and see if it continues. He was correct. Have used them before, very professional and always know what's needed. Even showed me how to clean a clogged filter, to avoid needing a call out and save me $$ in the future.
Description of Work: Front loading washer leaking water when not in use that filled tub and spilled onto floor. Called them out to ascertain problem.

For the past 12 months, I have been deployed overseas and my family left our Fairbanks home to visit relatives in the lower 48. In that time, our house had a freeze up in December 2011 and we filed a homeowner's claim to fix the pipes, water pump, boiler, and appliances that were damaged. We called Appliance Service Company to fix the washing machine and refrigerator. We were not home at any point during the repair process, and our neighbor was allowing access to our home for the work to be done. When the washer and refrigerator were fixed, the washer was tested successfully for use, but the fridge was not able to be tested according to Aaron, the technician, because no water was in the holding tank to do the test. We set another date for the water test in the fridge once water had been delivered to the tank, and at that time, all other work had been completed, including a new water pump. Our contractor, who installed the pump, had unplugged it from the wall after his test was successful so that it would not run unnecessarily while the home was vacant. After that time, Aaron said he had been to the house, let in by our neighbor, and completed the test for the fridge successfully. When my wife and son arrived home more than a month later, they found that the water pump was plugged in and was not functional. At that time, we contacted our contractor, and he came to fix the pump, indicating that the motor had burned out from being plugged in and running for a period of time. The only person that had been in our home to use water was Aaron, from Appliance Service Company. We called the company, who denied that they had plugged in the pump and had caused any damage. Aaron also stated that he had in fact done the water test for the fridge, and the only way that water would have pumped into the home to complete the test would have been if the pump was at that time plugged in and primed by him to complete it. He repeatedly denied that he had been anywhere near our water pump, yet he alleged that he had done the water test. No one was living in the home or using water in the home at any other time. We repeatedly tried contacting the company and were met with rudeness and abrasiveness. We were left with a bill from the contractor who fixed the pump because of damages that we were never home to cause, and lingering frustration with Appliance Service Company, who have shown no respect to us as clients and have proven that their business practices as well as customer service leave much to be desired.
