Thank you for posting your review. ABC Inc. has not met your expectations with the estimating process. We try hard to exceed expectation and we have failed in this instance. Information is best collected on a face to face basis which did not work for your schedule. We made an additional error in not figuring out a schedule that would work for you. To clarity all the information we have provided the below time line and some email content. As we indicated in the last email we would be glad to meet to discuss this estimate. March 18th 1:00 pm Phone contact by [removed member name] with John Ellison. March 18th 1:46 pm John Ellison email information and stated in the future we would contact before coming out. April 8th AM before noon Salesperson (Mike) left message to set appointment to see property. April 9th 11:44 AM - [removed member name] emailed inquired about getting estimated. 1:33 PM – J Ellison responded. Referenced Mikes call yesterday and looking to do job-site visit Friday 4/12/2013. “Hi [removed member name], Mike called and left a message for you yesterday, he can take a look and measure it up on Friday afternoon. My apologies for not getting back to you sooner, it was looking like spring for a little while and I was hoping for the snow to go down some as its much easier to see everything. In any case do you want to let your tenants know, I can firm up a time if necessary as we get closer and I would be glad to call them to set that up if you would like? Let me know, John” April 10th 2:51 PM [removed member name] emailed. Friday job-site visit OK. Renters have been notified. “Friday is fine. You can park in the back alley or behind the quonset hut, or pull in the driveway in the front.” April 12th 2:00 PM M. Mahlen went to job-site for inspection and measurements. Snow on the ground measured approximately 24”. April 24th 2:43 PM M. Mahlen sent estimate via email. May 20th 10:40 AM [removed member name] emailed about frustration with estimate. “Hi John, Just wanted to pass along my frustration at the "estimate" that was supposedly done on my residence. I was surprised, as this is not me, not my address and not my phone number. When I contacted John he said, "are you married"? I was concerened at the extreme price of the estimate and wondered if he indeed went to my house. He assured me that he did, though the "estimate" contains no drawings or measurements. It seems like a canned, extreme scenario as 1) this is not me or my address or phone, and the general estimate contains items and procedures that do not pertain to my house. Example, I have no gutters to remove. When we talked, I was looking at a reasonable costs, mentioning that one side of the house would probably not need to be sided, and/or that one side could be a less expensive product as it can not be seen from the street or neighbors. In addition, very little siding is needed on the front, as there is a garage door, and two doors. Of course, I realize that this might mean more work cutting around doors. Wonder if you agree that this is an over the top, generic "estimate". I checked with a couple of contractors, an architecht, and a friend who recently had there place re-sided. No one thought that this was in the ball-park. A friend also had an estimate completed by ABC, and it included measurements and simple line drawings. Thanks for your time. [removed member name] (not [removed member name]) “ 1:35PM J. Ellison responded via email. Will look into questions on concerns with estimate. “Hi [removed member name], I will look at this, we may have confused you with another customer by the name of [removed member name], (with similar first name). And Mike did make a mistake on your physical address, however he did look at the right house, I will look over the estimate in detail and get back to you, I remember you did ask for a "Shake style" shingle and perhaps that is what he used for his estimate....? In any case, I will get to the bottom of it and be in touch in the next day ot so, thanks, John “ May 21st. 11:15 AM J. Ellison provided answers to questions and concerns of [removed member name] email (May 20th 10:40 AM) “Hi [removed member name], I have attached a "revised estimate", thanks for bringing this to my attention, Mike had made an addition error, if you add up the line item cost on the original estimate he sent, you can see he made a mistake of $7,137.50, my apologies for that. Apparently there was some confusion with another customer and a similar name......(phone number, name and marital status), I think that was why Mike asked if you were married as he was trying to clarify, sometimes its difficult to keep everything straight especially if we have not had the opportunity to meet everyone in person. We also used the "Job address" instead of your physical address, I have corrected this on the estimate. Mike did look at and measure the house at [removed member's address], is that the house? I have attached a photo to be sure. There is a very small gutter that would need to be removed, I have deducted that from the estimate. We do not typically make drawings for a siding quote, if your friend received a drawing from us, it is most likely for something other than siding, perhaps it was gutters or windows? When we first spoke you had told me you wanted some type of "Shake" to emulate the look of a shingle as you said you would prefer that rather than the typical horizontal style and Mike did price out that type of siding, which is more expensive. I have reviewed Mikes pricing and your job, I know it is not a very large house, unfortunately It is not a simple job, there are a number of items that add to the difficulty and cost, if you are serious and would like to meet we would be glad to discuss those particulars in detail. Please let me know, John “ Photo of building attached with this email. Revised estimate total $32188.50 (attached with this email) June 24th [removed member name] posted review.
