Fullmers Painting

The initial painting went well. A bunch of older high schoolers/young college age kids doing most of the work. They spent about as much time talking to each other as painting. Paint started peeling off a large section of soffit after the first winter now after second winter paint has started peeling off of additional sections of the soffit around the house. I repainted the first section myself being careful to clean, sand and prime and haven't had any additional problems. They used only a paint/primer in one to save time. Given the age of my house, more care should have been taken to prep the surfaces and a primer should have been used. I guess they were the cheapest option for a reason and you get what you paid for.

Excellent Job! These Fullmer guys and crew are affordable, quick and do A+ work AND Jerry Fullmer promptly returned every single phone call I made to him. It first started the morning of the day they started. We all agreed to be at the rental house at 9:30 a.m. Jerry called at 9:20 and said they were there. I told them to go ahead and start. When I arrived 10 minutes later at 9:30, they had already removed all the old carpet from the house and were ready to begin painting. They are painters but I had a vacant rental that I wanted A LOT of work completed because much easier to do when a house is vacant. So, I arrive at 9:30 a.m. there were two guys there, the owner Jerry and another worker. A few hours later I returned after doing errands and there was a crew of I can't count that high (I'm exaggerating but still point taken) on every area of my house. I had the inside and outside painted, my decks and both sides of my high wooden fence washed and stained, patch work repaired from previous tenants and they removed my carpet and put a stain odor killer on the floor prepped for the carpet layers and they patched and painted a bang up in my garage door. So, these guys did all of this in a few days and they did everything I asked and more! If they saw a needed touch up I didn't mention, they repaired and painted it all for the quoted price. A few days later I was there getting ready for the carpet layers and I thought I saw a missed area in the bathroom and when I called his crew was there 'Johnny On The Spot' to make whatever I thought was wrong was made right. This company was easy to work with, and answered every phone call and, or text promptly. They were so down to earth yet so professional! See above. After initial contact, we have not heard from this company at all. They called, said they would come out and then nothing!

There was no care taken with my furnishing while painting was happening. Items tossed into middle of rooms nothing was covered while painting leaving paint on furniture, floors, counters, and clothes (closet). Didn't paint behind toilets and its obvious to see its not done, cover plates were not removed before painting in most rooms, One painter decided to stand on my newly bought (2 day old dryer) and dented in the top corner and said nothing. Doors were not painted nor was door trims (that's apparently extra I find out after they finished) making the house look half done. Nail holes and minor dings in wall were never spackled before painting and just painted over. In less then a month I already have several areas where paint is coming off.

Jerry had his Anchorage guy Jeremy come do the estimate, quote and painting. The crew was 3-4 people, Jeremy included, and they worked early until late (10pm the one night). He called to make sure scheduling worked, and followed up afterwards. A few places needed touchups including a door that wasn't left open long enough to dry. He was happy to return and fix those areas. Sometimes it was a little hard to reach him, but this was because he was busy on other jobs until late. I was pleased with the work and have recommended him to friends.

Jerry Fullmer is a very nice guy and well intentioned. He provided a written estimate and warranty of his work and was happy to paint the exterior of our house in the way we wished. However, the work was less than excellent to say the least. His crew was rarely on time and difficult to pin down as to when they would actually show up. Scraping work was limited and the crew did a poor job of collecting the chips they did scrape. On several occasions we had to police the job site and make requests for trim work to be redone or properly done. Attention to detail was lacking; for example around window trim interiors were not completed or door bolts had areas of missing paint after tape was removed. Trim work was not completed in many areas and roller marks were obvious. I guess you get what you pay for - Fullmer was very competitive price wise. It's too bad the quality of the work was not better as Jerry Fullmer is quite nice to work with. I'd like to recommend him but he would need to increase the quality of his work and the professionalism of his crew first.
