Our laptop suddenly made a click and shut down, and would not reboot. Battery was charged. I called Pyramid Computers and took the laptop over. I had to return to bring the charger cord. I received a call the next day saying they had fixed the unit. Because we had used the laptop actually on our lap; dust and lint had been sucked in by the cooling fan. Automatic shutdown occurred when it clogged and began to overheat. They thoroughly cleaned the unit, which required dis-assembly. I waited about 2 weeks before wrriting this review to ensure the problem was solved. The computer is running like new. They recommended we get a flat computer board to put on our lap to avoid dust and lint getting into the fan, which we have done.
Regarding the lower grade on professionalism. They did not give me a receipt when I left the computer at their shop, nor did I get an itemized receipt upon payment (only the credit card receipt.) I also had to give them the password to open the computer, whcih I understand, but left me uncomfortable. Luckily, I did not store key credit or financial info openly elsewhere in the computer. I did run a scan upon returning the computer home, just to be safe. (I even do this when exchanging flash drives within our family.) They did warn me prior to leaving the computer that the repair could be costly if they had to dis-assemble the computer, which did happen. I had asked that they call if the cost would be high, but I did not receive a call until after the repair was completed. The cost may be a result of living in Alaska.
Overall, they did a good job.
