NOVA PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

Overall experience, HORRIABLE! After being shown the home and putting in a deposit to hold it we were told we would need to wait 15 days while the owner moved out. 15 days turned to 40 before we were able to walk through the home & get the keys. The home was a wreck & we were told since the owner was living there they could not make them clean it. There was dog urine upstairs in the spare on the carpet & this came as a surprise seeing we were told this was a no pet home. I provided the property manager with paperwork from previous rentals stating the great condition my homes were kept in & was allowed to bring in our 1 dogafter putting down a large pet deposit & had pay an extra $50.00 a month to have a dog . LOTS of little things gone unfixed but a major problem that struck huge concern was the heat. The heat in this particular home was not operating the way it should. There was a 20 degree difference in the upstairs & downstairs at all times no matter what temperature you set the thermostat at. This was called in several times & if anyone was in AK in early 2009 you would remember this was a COLD winter. After two months of Nova sending out maintence men to tell us "yep, your heat isn't working" I set up a meeting with the owner/manager of Nova. By April we of course didnt need the heat as much but our electricty & gas bills were through the roof from having to turn the temp up to stay warm along with the portable heaters being plugged in & ran for two months. IWhen I met with the owner I brought in all bills & rental payment stubs as well as a estimate from Klebs heating to show that the heat was inop.& how much it would cost to have it fixed. I asked that since the heat was never fixed & our bills were through the roof that Nova reimburse some money for the bills each month that the heat was inop (3 months) through the cold winter. I was told it was not responsibility to make sure the heat worked since they were just managing the property. I was in shock that the response would be that they are not responsible for the tenants heat. Really. I am pretty sure the the landlord tenant act states otherwise. I explained I was at my last resort by talking to him since the issue wasn't getting resolved by the other Nova employees and since he wasn't to help either I was going to have to go to the better business bureau. The entire attitude of the meeting changed and I left the building with half of the 3 months bills paid. I honelstly would have rather had heat since I was payign for half the heat & still freezing. At our final inspection the heat was still not fixed & there were several other things NOT fixed since August 2008. Overall impression was horriable & there are several other customers I have spoken with that are not satisfied with this property management either.
